I love how some of the " New " sounds are still nostalgic to older players because some of them were changed within a few years of minecrafts release. Like the chest and door sound effects.
I didn't play Minecraft until it launched onto the Xbox 360, because my family and I didn't have a laptop or computer that was for leisure, and those door and chest sounds were with that version right from launch. . . . I still don't have a laptop or computer for leisure, but that's just because I would rather not risk any sort of malware ending up on any systems I also file taxes or store confidential work data. Different emails, usernames, passwords, search engines, et cetera, all so I can be as careful as can be. Phone and console are leisure, and they even operate on separate internet wifi than the at-home laptop and computer. Overkill? Likely. Can I afford this overkill? I wouldn't be doing it this way if I couldn't.
Just get a laptop or desktop and isolate it on your network and set it up with a fresh account and email, that way it has no way of communicating with your other devices or work accounts @LastRookie
Random fact: The old “walking on grass” sound is still used in game, used for when you break any dirt-like block that isn’t dirt in the game. (grass block, podzol, pathway, farmland, snow-covered grass block, etc.)

I don't think anyone here knows what walking on sand sounds like. While the new sounds are particularly still stylistic, the quieter and less obnoxious sound is closer to real life
the even older version of fall damages were even better, you have someone that groans very violently and gruesomely like it's as if your character is in so much excruciating pain
they should make it where you can choose what sounds you want in the options. I personally like the old fall damage, splash, and door sounds but prefer the new cow, chest, and bow sounds. It would be great to be able to customize it to my liking.
I never liked this indigo dyed water. at the time I liked texture packs that changed it to a better looking color and I liked that shaders made them transparent and reflective (even though my pc could barely run at 15 fps). I'm glad they changed the water texture, it's peak rn
14 year Minecraft veteran here Water splash New > Old (Old one was just super loud and especially annoying when swimming) Chest Opening New > Old (you'll see why) Fall Damage New < Old (just love the sound of the ankles absolutely crunching below you) Door New < Old (this is why) Explosion New < Old (the new one kinda cuts off and it's kinda weird in my opinion) Hurt Sound New < Old (I mostly miss the fact that Steve had a voice, and it just made more sense than bones cracking, especially when dying in lava or water) Cow Sounds New > Old (same thing as the explosion, the old ones cut off and are just super loud and annoying) Bow Sounds New > Old (it just makes more sense to me) Grass Walk New > Old (old sounds were, once again, really loud, and the new sounds just sound more grassy)
i think the current hurt sound isnt a bone cracking, its just a general hit sound im pretty sure it was because they needed a gender neutral hurt sound when alex was introduced, so they just made it a ticking noise
Maybe it's hard to believe, but not all people remain with Steve as skin, and change go other characters where the deep manly voice doesn't fit when you take damage. Also, if you're constantly taking damage from mobs, hearing that hurt sound spammed will get annoying real fast.

Honestly I think old Minecraft is so nostalgic (Still got 1.3 on my PS3) but newer Minecraft looks and sounds so real it's uncanny! (Xbox Series S version is unbelievable)
As someone who has played since alpha, I totally understand missing the old sounds due to nostalgia. However, as a sound designer, all of the new sounds sound so much better to me.
I personally preffer the old sounds purely because of nostalgia. They will always hold a dear place in my heart. Other than that the new sounds are better. Just be honest everyone and agree with me that you like the old sounds just cause of nostalgia. No shame in it.
@@aspookyscaryskeleton1474 I think that was what made Minecraft when Notch primarily worked on it so special, every mob was made most of the time for the reason of being very unique and distinct rather than just being a new one in the roster. Hell the very last 2 updates Notch worked on (Beta 1.8 and 1.0) added the damn End and Villages, both are extremely iconic today.

This feels like a trip to me being around 6-7 years old, and standing next to my big brother as he played Minecraft during 2010 and 2011 on our first computer with a flat screen. And to the time when little late, I got permission to make my own world on my brother's profile. (I was a scaredy cat and only played on creative mode.)
