One of my great memories: My wife had to go out of the country for a few weeks and I was tasked with picking the daughter up from school. I had to take off of work to do it and warned her to be ready for pickup. She was late every single day the first week. I warned that the following Monday was going to be difficult. I used a work truck with a PA that didn't look like it should be legal on the streets, put on the hillbilly costume, black out about a third of my teeth and drove though the parking lot calling her name and broadcasting over the PA that her Maw had promised that she'd help fixin' the vittles etc. The look of horror on her face is something that I will treasure forever.

My wife asked me to drive carpool and pick up our oldest daughter from school. She was a high school fresman at the time and had no idea I was picking her and the other kids up.
I was waiting for her in the car, and when I saw her leaving the school, I got out and announced to the world "hey Hilly (her name is Hilary) Mom asked me to give you and your friends a ride home, so here I am, sweetheart!"
All the kids laughed. She and the others got in the car. I had a polka CD ready to go and blasted it through the speakers as we got in the queue of cars leaving the lot. Hilly slumped in the front seat to hide.
When we left the parking lot, she told me that she had never been so embarrassed in her life. I turned and smiled to her friends in the back seat, then replied, "Hilly, I haven't even tried to embarrass you yet."
All in the car laughed but her.
    It was a good day.

As a female teenager in the 80s, there was nothing that made our dads happier than embarrassing their daughters. Our friends couldn't wait to see what our dad was up to because they were glad it wasn't their dad!
My dad had a history from when I was about 10 years old of embarrassing me. I couldn't wait to go to college and didn't need to worry what he was up to every day.
Dads love their daughters and will still try to embarrass you when we are in our 50s and have them grandchildren!
We paid back and embarrassed our kids, too. Now they have children, and they need to embarrass them.
It's generational torture, but I have memories that were so embarrassing when I was 16 years old, and now, at age 55, I'm glad my parents loved me so much to be so silly. I wish we had some video, but I have the great memories.
I miss my Mom and Dad so much. I would do anything to have them try to embarass me today.
Appreciate how much your patrents love you!❤

Literally the definition of mistrust and trauma lol. Only bad parents do it and perpetuate it. Emotional security is important with growing children, and most parents ruin that before puberty, an already trying time for kids.

@@a-a-rondavis9438 Oh knock it off lmao give me a f'n break. I recently just got out of high school myself & personally went through this as did a lot of my friends, it may seem like the worst in those moments but from experience I can tell you it aint trauma OR mistrust in the slightest. Ppl nowadays use trauma for every dam thing. We're kids, not stupid, we know it comes from a place of love and bonding. We may act like we hate it in the moment but will cherish that type of stuff forever. The most healthy and lovable families I know went through this. All of us would laugh about it together in classes and during sports. The amount of times I heard from ppl who didn't get this type of love say they wish they had that type of affection shown from parents is astounding. Its a great part of growing up in those "trying times".

I love these clips because all these children will (hopefully) grow up to appreciate these moments that made them cringe so much years before. It's a cliche at this point. But if you do have loving and caring parents? Don't take their love and attention for granted ever. Us privileged people truly have no idea how many children and young adults missed out on this sort of fun and affection
