That's really great to hear Nell, congratulations on the move - really pleased it might have helped. Thanks for taking the time to leave a kind comment.
Today's the day when my transfer begins. 2 years of hell with 3 network as they changed their call settings and no one could hear me. Time to go with giffgaff on a cheaper deal as I'm not fussed about these latest phones.
Hello, get the PAC code from the old provider, and give it to the new provider - hopefully you only have one PAC code, and the new provider should have a box on their website for you to enter it to make the change. Hope this helps
Great video, very professional. I know which network that is and it is very consumer friendly when it comes to that network to that network, but I've found better value with a network called VOXI which not only provides more data on the cheaper options but doesn't throttle the speeds after a certain usage and with a tenner you get unlimited social media usage (Snapchat, messenger, WhatsApp etc) without touching your data and with 15 you get that plus more data plus unlimited usage of services such as UA-cam or Netflix without touching your data. Seems like a no brainer for me
Excellent video. Just what I needed. A quick question - did your old provider automatically cancel your direct debit or did you have to do it yourself? Many thanks.
Hi, thanks for the v. kind comment and question. Yes, I deliberately had no contact with the old provider to see what would happen and they cancelled the account. I think a scheduled payment went through and I even got a refund for the days not used. It took a few weeks to sort itself out because I was on a monthly contract - this was with Virgin. Hope this helps and good luck with the move!
Thanks for the question, from memory it was the letters and numbers. Think the site you enter them into to make the move will let you know if the code is invalid or incorrect. Good luck with the move!
Hi Harry Thanks for the kind question -- I'm not an expert, and this might not answer your question, but if you are 'out of contract' - so it's just a rolling pay monthly contract, this does cancel the contract and shut down your account. That's what happened for me, I didn't have to call Virgin Mobile once. I'm sorry, I don't know what happens if you move number and you still are in the middle of a 12 month or 24 month contract. My guess is that you can still move but you might still have to continue the payments. Hope this helps!
If you are in the middle of a contract you'll probably be charged a termination fee plus your regular bill. If that makes sense. You will probably have to pay a bill anyway for the next month, at least that's what they guy in the shop told me today
So sorry to hear this starkey. If it helps theres an easy complaint form on the ofcom website. That's really frustrating to hear though. Good luck with leaving them
Had a contract for 1 year and I'm fed up. I spent all my teens and 20s without being on contract. 1 year into my network, they've increased the price and its gobshite compared what other networks can offer. EE can do one. Mugs.
Thanks for the kind comment and so sorry to hear this - putting the price up mid-contract is outrageous, what's the point of a "contract" when it's so one sided. Hope you get out soon, good luck
Hi Paul Thanks for the kind comment and question -- In my case, with Virgin Mobile - I deliberately didn't contact them at all to see what would happen. I think the Ofcom rules are that the network must shut down the account once the transfer has been made and final bill paid. It took about 4 weeks after the transfer that I got the final bill and I might have had a refund on the half month. I think most networks have a 30 day notice , so it's just rounded to that month's bill. I didn't do a thing and everything was closed and no more direct debits were taken out. Not heard from them since - bliss! Good luck with your transfer - just go to Ofcom's website if you have any problems - and thanks again

Congratulations for moving! And thanks for the kind comment -- sometimes they send a message to the new sim card, but it sounds as if you might not have that yet if the phone is on order. Either that or the login for your new network might show some kind of progress - good luck with the new phone arriving
Thanks for the kind question DarioCLB and sorry to hear this. How long ago did you quit them? Do/Did you have an online account with them: you might be able to get the PAC code via their website. Or you should be able to port your number from them to where you are now (which I'm assuming is what you want to do) The Ofcom website might also be able to help - you shouldn't lose your phone number just because you have left them. Hate to say this, but the last option is to call Vodafone to get a PAC code to port your number. Good luck and hope something here helps.
Hi thanks for the kind question - hope I'm understanding it correctly. I think I went through this with my Dad - he got a new phone but it had a micro SIM rather than a Mini Sim. I had to call the company, but they were able to send a SIM that had the same number. Hope this helps and good luck with the new sim
I'm due to change over to a new provider this week, will I need to cancel my DD on my bank account for my old provider?? I want to go over to a sim only deal with Tesco and coming away from EE..thanks!! 🤗
According to Ofcom, if you move your number by PAC code the old provider should just close your account and not charge you, or refund anything due. If it were me though, I'd probably cancel the direct debit anyway! If it helps, I didn't bother on mine with Virgin (moneygrubbers) Media and the account was all closed safely anyway. Hope this helps and good luck!
Hi thanks for the kind question, sorry it's taken a while to reply. Hope I'm understanding the question correctly: You don't need to cancel before switching to a new sim - it should shut down automatically... but that's assuming you're 'out of contract' which is how I was when I switched. The account shut down automatically on the next month and I didn't have to contact my old network at all. I'm sorry that don't know what happens if you're still in a minimum length contract - I don't know if the payments continue or if you get a different number after your original number has moved. Hope this helps and good luck!
So our phone number is tied to the sim card? My phone developed a fault so I've picked up a new sim free phone, is it just a case of putting the old sim in and transferring any data across from the old phone via USB cable or Bluetooth? or will have to contact my provider O2 to notify them I'm using a new device?
Hi thanks for the kind question - yes, just transfer over the old sim. Forgive me I don't know what kind of phone you have or what kind of data - I have an android phone so everything is linked to my google account and I just sign in with that on the new phone. I don't think, you need to notify O2 if the SIM is the same size it should all just continue working. Hope this helps!
I'm getting like this prompt "We've tried to process your PAC, but there is an issue with the information you've submitted. Please check that you have provided the correct details and try again. If you have already used this PAC code and submitted it when purchasing a handset or SIM, don't worry - your switch is underway. We'll send you a text as soon as your number has been transferred to us." any idea about this?
Thanks for the kind question and sorry to hear about this - Are you getting the message randomly? Or did you request a PAC? Either way I would contact your mobile network because it sounds like someone typed in the wrong PAC code and it's linked to your number or if you requested it that they don't have the same date of birth. Fingers crossed and hope you get this sorted, thanks.
Hi I have lost my phone and giffgaff sim. I’ve got a new giffgaff sim and want to keep my old number. But I can’t receive a PAC without my old sim! Help?
Hi Paddy - thanks for the kind question -- if you're staying with the same network you dont need a PAC - PAC is only for changing networks, I believe. I would get in contact with GiffGaff via their website or directly on the phone - they should be able to transfer your number over to the new sim. Hope this helps and good luck!
I have bought a replacement phone as i lost the one before and i liked it so i got an exact replacement. However due to losing the phone, i also lost the original SIM. I want to use that number and be able to buy a new sim which will come with a new number and then transfer the original number to new sim card. Also with that i am unable to text for a pac code. I am unsure what to do. Is it still possible to do without your original sim?
you need to contact your current provider to report the SIM as lost so you can get a replacement. if you did not have any account in place then this process will be harder, maybe even impossible.
Hi thanks for the kind question I think you'll have to call your current provider for a sim card. You could instead ask them for the pac code over the phone and just make the move with that. Good luck, hope it works out well
Hi Mas, sorry only just seen this message -- your network should make that move for you so I don't think this text method would be right for that, but let us know how you get on!
This is the only way to get a PAC code these days as customer service staff are not to have access to them and no more requesting online because of sim swap fraud, it's very difficult now for fraudsters to obtain PAC codes unless you tell them the PAC code and the way they can get hold of it is if a fraudster calls you pretending to be the new network. If you are on Three you will be asked your date of birth. If you are not out of contract most networks will tell you how much you might have to pay in termination fees. You can request a PAC code anytime even if you are still in contract
Thanks for the kind question The reply is correct - the new sim will be given your old number when the transfer is complete Hope this helps and good luck!
Thanks for asking - I'm not an expert, but I would think you would probably need to do another PAC transfer back to the previous network. Hope you find the answer
Hi, thanks for the kind comment. This is the first I've heard that pay as you go can't be moved. If you text the PAC number do they not give you a PAC code? If not, are you able to get a PAC code from the vodafone website, if you have an account on there? If you have problems or are being blocked from moving, there is an easy report form on the Ofcom website, but Vodafone should provide you with a pac code whatever the contract is I'm not an expert but hope this helps
The details are here: streetwave.co/mobile-networks/how-to-get-a-pac-code-from-vodafone-o2-3-or-ee If you call customer services again and are told you can't get a pac code, tell them the call is being recorded for evidence to give to Ofcom and see the response. Also if you have a twitter account tweet them what you have been told too because it sounds like a rogue call centre lout trying to keep up their targets for non-leavers. If it's true, it's Classic Vodafone.
Thanks for the kind question - I think you either go into the pay as you go account on your new network, or call the new network and give them the PAC code to transfer your number over. Once its moved the old account will just stop. Hope this helps
Hi thanks for the kind question - no, I don't think you do, if you want to stay with the same network. Just pop it into the new phone any time. Hope this helps and good luck with the new phone @donjon8352 !
Hi dear now i am waiting the transfer. I have only one divice/phone! When the transfer will be done may I need another another phone to restart my phone? And when swich off my phone?
Hi Tsegaye - thanks for the kind question! Wow, okay, this is an unusual situation for me, so I'm not sure I'm the best person to ask, but here goes. Do you know if your phone is locked to the network you're leaving? If not, then you're right - I think it's just a case of swapping sim cards on the day of the transfer. If your phone is locked, you can get the network you're leaving to unlock your phone - I think it costs about £10, or you can go to one of those high street phone screen repair places to unlock your phone. Otherwise it wont work with your new network's sim card until it's unlocked. You can tell if its unlocked by just putting the new network's sim card into your phone and seeing if the phone can 'see' the new network. I hope this helps. Good luck!
Thank you very much indeed Sir!!! Still my new sim card network is working!! They are processing the transfer!! Thank you so much for your useful tips!!!
Hi Sir Oswald - thanks for the kind comment: Hmmm that's convenient isn't it! Bet there isn't a technical hitch when you're being billed. I wonder how Ofcom views technical hitches... Good luck with the move and hope it works later!
@@DADDELIVERS I sorted it in the end...I took the phone to the local tesco mobile shop and showed them myself. They didn't comment on the technical hitch replies, but did sort it. Cheers
Hi - Sorry I don't know if your 'old' network will refund you for any days not used, so you might want to time it to not lose a month... but bear in mind it can take a couple of days for the phone number transfer to be complete. Good luck!
@@DADDELIVERS Thanks you really explained it well. Im changing in about a week Not sure if i should order my new sim now. Im definitely going on to a new month my contract finishes on 21st march And the renew is on the 18th every month

I've tried to set up my new network with my new service provider online . But I cant. What do I do?. As I am in the middle of waiting for the switch over. My mobile number is not been recognised. Should I wait until the switch over has finished then setup a new account online with my new service provider?.
I'm trying to setup my new account with my new service provider online. But I cant. As my number is not being recognised. As I am keeping my old number. Sorry for not being more specific.
@You can eat in class!! I mean the transfer is already happening they said it will be done by Monday. But I am talking about setting up my new network account online. When I put in my mobile number it does not recognise it.
Hi LaChari, thanks for the kind comment and sorry to hear this. Think this was only brought in by Ofcom to be able to move from a current provider to a new one. Which, as you say is no help if you've closed down an account with a phone network. Hate to say it but if it were me, I could only think to call or visit the website of the old network. The new network might be able to help as a first port of call though. And apparently it has to be done within 6 months to avoid losing the number permanently Would love to know how this works out, good luck.
@@DADDELIVERS ok I explain how it's happened. I'm not English but i live in uk, about 2 months ago i went back to my country and my sim didn't work after 2 or 3 days. I texted for help to te website and said to me they fixed the problem after a month and that I had to activate the sim and send the PAC because the sim was blocked(still don't know why) know I decided to buy a new sim with a new plan I'm keeping to ask for help to switch the number from the old sim to the new one but they say always the same thing (that I have to request the PAC) but they don't wanna understand that I can't if my sim doesn't work and I don't have signal so I honestly don't know how to do. Btw thanks for the quick reply ;)
@@lachari5832 Thanks Lachari, so sorry to hear this. Your English is excellent Just to make sure -- because this is confusing, and I am not an expert... but... When your SIM was locked, you sometimes need a PUK code (not a PAC code) to unlock it. Here's the definition of a PUK code "The PUK (Personal Unblocking Key) and PUK2 are used to unlock the PIN and PIN 2 codes respectively if your SIM card is blocked. A PUK, which is sometimes known as a network unlocking code (NUC) or personal unlocking code (PUC), is a unique sequence of eight digits that your network must supply, as long as you fulfil certain criteria. As indicated above, a PUK is required when you want to unlock a phone. You’ll need one in the event that your handset is locked by your current network and you want to use a SIM card from another network. You’ll also need to get a PUK code in the event that you mistakenly enter the wrong PIN code and you are automatically locked out." So, I am just checking in case you need to unlock your SIM... Sorry I can't be of more help
Hi Heidi Thanks for asking - I'm not an expert but I think it's only for moving to a different network. If you're changing SIM cards your current network should arrange the switch. Hope this helps?!
Sorry to hear this - is this right from the start? I wouldn't know what to do if the ee account was already started with payments set up. Can I ask, is the new ee account fully set up? If it is, I can't see what to do other than calling ee to fix the problem - which isn't ideal. Hope you manage to make the transfer and fingers crossed ee sort this out. Thanks again for the kind comment.
Yh i have set everything up and i dont have credits to text or call ee there mant be having a pove chat soon yes i was from the start if you can contect ee fpr me i asume u jave that power
Might be a daft question but could i use a PAC to switch the number within the same network? I have a few months left in my O2 pay monthly contract. I have just recently set up a mobile contract with Samsung which includes an O2 sim contract with a new sim. I rung O2 up to pay for my remaining months in my original sim contract and move my number but was told canceling my contract early deletes my number. I am reluctant to believe this 100% so am hoping to find a way via online or text to move my number.
Im going through something similar with vodafone. Apperntly you have to get a PAYG sim from another network and transfer your number on to the new PAYG then transfer it back again to your new sim
Hi DragonMan - I am so sorry - I've only just seen this message - that is really awful behaviour from O2, especially as you offered to pay. The comment below looks like a good option, or diverting your old number (which looks like you're willing to pay for anyway) to the new phone for a few months and making the transfer when your contract is up? Good luck - that's a really tricky situation...
Honestly haven't tried to do anything since then, just been continuing with my old sim even tho my new sim works fine & even has more data on it. Maybe I'll try to ring them up again and hope for a different response so I don't need to wait until July or Augest to start using my new sim.
Hi thanks for the kind question - hope I've understood correctly. They send the PAC code to you, so that you can give it to your new network. Text the number on screen in the video and if they need a date of birth they will reply with a text that shows you the format they need the date of birth. Mine was DD/MM/YY Hope this helps!
Hi Thanks for the kind question - I've found that once the phone number transfer goes through, then the old network closes the account and refunds any over charge. Hope this helps

Today's the day when my transfer begins. 2 years of hell with 3 network as they changed their call settings and no one could hear me.
Time to go with giffgaff on a cheaper deal as I'm not fussed about these latest phones.
Good Luck Nathan, and thanks for taking the time to leave this kind message. I'm still with giffgaff and find it so much easier!
Do I enter the new provider PAC CODE or the old one when changing number
Hello, get the PAC code from the old provider, and give it to the new provider - hopefully you only have one PAC code, and the new provider should have a box on their website for you to enter it to make the change. Hope this helps
Clear as Crystal. 👍👍 Thank you nice man, from an Old Man. 👴

Good luck J - thanks for the kind message!
Thank you soo much they literally texted me back instantly
That's great to hear - glad this might help and good luck with any move 1C3Y!
Seems like a no brainer for me
Was voxi worth it? Because I am going to switch to it and I want to know if it is good
Thank you for this valuable information, I'm your new subscriber 🙂👍

Thanks for the very kind message Robert, I really appreciate it. Was worried it was a bit slow and long! Good luck with changing networks!

Thanks for the v kind comment Terziak - some moan that it's too long so glad it might help!!!
The Pac code is it just numbers or the 3 letters in front of the numbers and the numbers together
Thanks for the question, from memory it was the letters and numbers. Think the site you enter them into to make the move will let you know if the code is invalid or incorrect. Good luck with the move!
Still helpful in 2023
Great stuff - thanks for the kind comment!

Hi there, was wondering if u knew whether requesting the PAC code automatically cancels the contract u want to leave?
Hi Harry
Thanks for the kind question -- I'm not an expert, and this might not answer your question, but if you are 'out of contract' - so it's just a rolling pay monthly contract, this does cancel the contract and shut down your account.
Your doing better than me as there refusing to send it
So sorry to hear this starkey. If it helps theres an easy complaint form on the ofcom website. That's really frustrating to hear though.
Good luck with leaving them
Useful video, is the info still relevant in 2024?
Hi thanks for the kind message.
I think the number to text is still working and is relevant, hope this helps!
Thank you So much
Very useful
Thanks for the kind message abcdefu chan!
Hi very helpful video can i ask did you need to contact your old provider to cancel you contact? Thanks
Hi Paul
Thanks for the kind comment and question -- In my case, with Virgin Mobile - I deliberately didn't contact them at all to see what would happen.
@@DADDELIVERS great thank you

Thanks Willowmoon, I appreciate it!
If you want to move to the same network as me, click on this link and GiffGaff will send you a SIM card for free.
If you use it, they'll give you money off your first bill and give me a reward too!

Good luck Mina! Hope the transfer went over okay!
Thank you for showing, During the ordering of the new phone I provided my pac code, How do you know they have started the process?
Congratulations for moving!
And thanks for the kind comment -- sometimes they send a message to the new sim card, but it sounds as if you might not have that yet if the phone is on order. Either that or the login for your new network might show some kind of progress - good luck with the new phone arriving
Well done.
Thanks for the kind message, I appreciate it!
My problem is I can't text anyone nor call anyone because I quit Vodafone so right now I can't do anything. What am I supposed to do
Thanks for the kind question DarioCLB and sorry to hear this.
How long ago did you quit them?
Do/Did you have an online account with them: you might be able to get the PAC code via their website.
Or you should be able to port your number from them to where you are now (which I'm assuming is what you want to do)
The Ofcom website might also be able to help - you shouldn't lose your phone number just because you have left them.
Hate to say this, but the last option is to call Vodafone to get a PAC code to port your number.
Good luck and hope something here helps.
What about transferring your new number to the same network but a new sim?
Hi thanks for the kind question - hope I'm understanding it correctly.
I think I went through this with my Dad - he got a new phone but it had a micro SIM rather than a Mini Sim. I had to call the company, but they were able to send a SIM that had the same number. Hope this helps and good luck with the new sim
V helpful thank you
Thanks for the kind message Teresa!
Hi dude ur vids worked
Really pleased it works, thanks HamzaSharafPlayz!
@@DADDELIVERS that's great thanks so much!! 😊
Thank you! Do I need to cancel my current contract before switching to a new sim or will this be done automatically?
Hi thanks for the kind question, sorry it's taken a while to reply.
Hope I'm understanding the question correctly:
You don't need to cancel before switching to a new sim - it should shut down automatically...
but that's assuming you're 'out of contract' which is how I was when I switched.
The account shut down automatically on the next month and I didn't have to contact my old network at all.
I'm sorry that don't know what happens if you're still in a minimum length contract - I don't know if the payments continue or if you get a different number after your original number has moved.
Hope this helps and good luck!
@@DADDELIVERS That's brilliant thank you! It's all sorted now. Thanks for your help!
I think you have to pay whatever coontract you have left for example if 6 month you have to pay that. It's all a scam. Personally speaking.
thanks for posting

Also turning their volume so low deliberately or not answering.
YES thanks!
The times I've had to repeat I cant hear them....
I'm getting like this prompt "We've tried to process your PAC, but there is an issue with the information you've submitted. Please check that you have provided the correct details and try again.
If you have already used this PAC code and submitted it when purchasing a handset or SIM, don't worry - your switch is underway. We'll send you a text as soon as your number has been transferred to us."
any idea about this?
Thanks for the kind question and sorry to hear about this -
Are you getting the message randomly?
Hi thanks for the kind question
I think you'll have to call your current provider for a sim card.
You could instead ask them for the pac code over the phone and just make the move with that.
Good luck, hope it works out well
Hey does this work with staying with the same network? I want to keep my old number but i want to transfer it to a 5G sim
Thanks for the kind comment Nicholas - great info here
As I'm switching network providers. Once it's done do I need to keep my new sim or old sim in as i'm keeping my old mobile number?.
Thanks for the kind question
The reply is correct - the new sim will be given your old number when the transfer is complete
Hope this helps and good luck!
Can you change back with the same old sim? If can how ?
Thanks for asking - I'm not an expert, but I would think you would probably need to do another PAC transfer back to the previous network. Hope you find the answer
Thank you
Apparently i cant move my pay as you go number from Vodafone to another network?..it was a contract but now its pay as you go.
Hi, thanks for the kind comment.
This is the first I've heard that pay as you go can't be moved.
If you text the PAC number do they not give you a PAC code?
If not, are you able to get a PAC code from the vodafone website, if you have an account on there?
If you have problems or are being blocked from moving, there is an easy report form on the Ofcom website, but Vodafone should provide you with a pac code whatever the contract is
I'm not an expert but hope this helps
The details are here:
streetwave.co/mobile-networks/how-to-get-a-pac-code-from-vodafone-o2-3-or-ee
If you call customer services again and are told you can't get a pac code, tell them the call is being recorded for evidence to give to Ofcom and see the response.
Also if you have a twitter account tweet them what you have been told too because it sounds like a rogue call centre lout trying to keep up their targets for non-leavers.
If it's true, it's Classic Vodafone.
Where do yu send txt tooo😢?
followed steps got new pac code, but i am pay and go what next ?
Thanks for the kind question - I think you either go into the pay as you go account on your new network, or call the new network and give them the PAC code to transfer your number over. Once its moved the old account will just stop. Hope this helps
❤
👍
Do you need pack code with new sim free smartphone and with same same sim card

@You can eat in class!! The old one because I am keeping my old number
I can't understand how can I send the message without signal because of course my old sim doesn't work
Hi LaChari, thanks for the kind comment and sorry to hear this. Think this was only brought in by Ofcom to be able to move from a current provider to a new one.
Which, as you say is no help if you've closed down an account with a phone network.
Hate to say it but if it were me, I could only think to call or visit the website of the old network.
The new network might be able to help as a first port of call though.
And apparently it has to be done within 6 months to avoid losing the number permanently
Would love to know how this works out, good luck.
@@DADDELIVERS ok I explain how it's happened. I'm not English but i live in uk, about 2 months ago i went back to my country and my sim didn't work after 2 or 3 days. Btw thanks for the quick reply ;)
@@lachari5832 Thanks Lachari, so sorry to hear this. Your English is excellent
Just to make sure -- because this is confusing, and I am not an expert... but...
When your SIM was locked, you sometimes need a PUK code (not a PAC code) to unlock it. Here's the definition of a PUK code
"The PUK (Personal Unblocking Key) and PUK2 are used to unlock the PIN and PIN 2 codes respectively if your SIM card is blocked.
You’ll also need to get a PUK code in the event that you mistakenly enter the wrong PIN code and you are automatically locked out."
So, I am just checking in case you need to unlock your SIM...
Sorry I can't be of more help
Can you use stac code for same same network?
Hi Heidi
Thanks for asking - I'm not an expert but I think it's only for moving to a different network. If you're changing SIM cards your current network should arrange the switch.
Hope this helps?!
Im tying to port an a lycra number to ee and it says my ee number dosent exist even tho it sent it texts
Sorry to hear this - is this right from the start? I wouldn't know what to do if the ee account was already started with payments set up. Can I ask, is the new ee account fully set up? If it is, I can't see what to do other than calling ee to fix the problem - which isn't ideal.

Hi Craig - yes - if you can get one from the Network you want to change to.

Never put your card number in pal
In what format do I send the PAC and date of birth?
Hi thanks for the kind question - hope I've understood correctly.
They send the PAC code to you, so that you can give it to your new network.
Text the number on screen in the video and if they need a date of birth they will reply with a text that shows you the format they need the date of birth.
Mine was DD/MM/YY
Hope this helps!
Does texting pac stop the direct debit to the older mobile network
Hi Thanks for the kind question - I've found that once the phone number transfer goes through, then the old network closes the account and refunds any over charge. Hope this helps
