A tip for those planning to buy one of these:
If you plan to add hardware cloth around the outside to keep raccoon hands from reaching through the cage portion to snatch your babies' head through, install it BEFORE you assemble the sections together.
You'll thank me later!!

Has anyone added an automatic door to this coop? The metal framing around the door has me concerned.
I bought this coop already assembled from somebody who put a "Run Chicken" automatic door on it.... Due to the sliding door being on the outside, I guess the guy installed the automatic door facing the inside so that if there was ever a malfunction with it, he could still slide the manual door to close up the coop. The automatic door was not going to be big enough to be bolted into the metal frame on this coop, so he built a wooden frame out of 1x2 wood and screwed the automatic door onto that, then screwed the assembled wooden frame/auto door to the metal framing on the inside where the sliding door is when it's closed up. It's perfect actually, and because the auto door closes onto the frame instead of on the coop floor, it keeps all the bedding debris out of the track.

It fit in my truck bed with the tailgate down so it should definitely fit in a trailer
So. Since this coop is just painted with a primer, would Cabot wood protector weatherproofing work as a topcoat. I like the actual color of the coop and dont want to change it but want to make it as rot resistant as possible.

Great video guys. I have a question. The metal pallet that the box comes on, is that part of the coop assembly? I noticed the metal the box is on is pretty bent and looks the same as the steel you've assembled.
That is the base to the coop. U have to unpack everything to get to the base.

Do you think it would be hard to replace the vinyl roof with a tin roof or other metal roofing?
No. I think u could probably make that work if needed.

No sry. Just make sure that the clean wood shavings are changed out regularly and I’d check the roof for leaks. That’s kinda weird.
