If you're considering UBC housing for the Spring 2024 intake, there's something you should know about the New Totem residences, which isn't widely advertised. I was assigned a room in Orchard Commons, which is fantastic and modern, offering some of the best views. However, I've realized that the connected single rooms in New Totem are noticeably larger, and the bathrooms there are more spacious too. Additionally, there seems to be a common opinion among students that Orchard Commons doesn't have as strong a sense of community as other first-year dorms. Of course, this is just my perspective. I love ur room!!! I just got accepted and am going to ubc next year! I really wanna live in orchard commons in a single connected room! Is there anything you did that helped you secure this room. I know it’s all randomized but did you do anything to better your chances?
congrats! i’m going this fall too- a friend who went last year said told me to only select single connected as preference on the residence application so that’s what i did. not guaranteed but it worked for him so yea
Hi I have a question! When applying for the residence they ask you for a preference and I was wondering if I can leave some of them blank. (Not old enough / doesn’t want six bedroom etc)
