When I heard them play the first verse of this before Breaking Out live, I thought "Man, I wish they'd do a full-on cover of Silent Running, I love that song!" I can die happy.
Really underrated; I love the dark atmosphere. The bass throughout the song is great, the synth sound fits really well, and the whistle at 5:10 is amazing.
Love the original. But I must agree that the darker sound to this version fits the lyrics better. I also like the guitar rifts more. This song makes me think of In the Air tonight, which they also covered. The music for The Cover up is so fitting within their vision of the Rockman franchise
They FINALLY did it! A full cover of their beautiful rendition of this song! Honestly I always thought the Protomen's version of Silent Running was better than the Mike and the Mechanics one 'cause the original ounded a little too upbeat for the subject of its lyrics.
I don't know how and I don't care how, but this cover is better than the original song. The sound is more consistent with the lyrics, the tone is more grounded, even the vocals are stronger.
I was listening to a classic rock station and the orginal of this came on, and it was on my mind, and I was going to add the original, and then bam, I see the protomen did a cover. Hell yes.
Tempest and a Computer In concert, the band will play this, then at 1:58 starts Breaking Out. So, it's possibly in between How the World Fell Into Darkness and Breaking Out. Possibly Light calling to the people of the city?
I think, in concert, I Drove All Night was played separately, like in the Encore. But, storyline wise, I could see it going in between Light Up the Night and The Climb. It's believed that Joe was intoxicated on the drive back to the city to take out Wily's Tower, so imagine him drunkenly singing "I drove all niiiiiiiiiiiight..." on his motorcycle for the long drive back XD
Seriously guys, when are we going to see act 3? How many years are we going to have to wait to get some of that sweet sweet act 3? I'll pay for it this time, I swear!
If you care, you already know but if you don't I care I care to tell you. The Protomen's albums take place in the Megaman universe, Album 1 is Megaman confronting Dr Wily and Album 2 is a prologue about the fall of Dr Light and the rise of Dr Wily. The Cover-up (this album) is a series of covers/fictional interstials about another character (Sniper Joe) who serves as inspiration for Dr Light to create Protoman which is the inspiration to create Megaman. Its convoluted and a soap opera and I friggin' love it.
Please can someone write down what is she saying at the end, starting at 5:25. I'm not a native English speaker, so it's hard for me to hear. Her speech is missing in the lyrics🙏🙏🙏
@Beavis It is mostly not able to be heard or makes sense. "For greatness and beyond" "He has been gone for almost 18 years, but his dream is alive as it ever was"
During this pandemic...and Trump....and America crashing into the night...🌙...This song almost feels prophetic...and like it was written for this dark era. Who knows our future....STILL...If they find this message, tell them we tried. 💜💜💜

All the covers in this album fit so well with the universe The Protomen built it's actually insane.
HAAANDS down... the best cover I have heard... I went and ordered it very well done and 'covered'
This song is so 80's it makes me think hard about 80's movies and the good-feel feeling of the 80's. Love it.
Zeithri Do you happen to recognize this one? watch?v=bAJEyrvvWFA

Jesus christ this is powerful.

This song is so perfect for Mega Man, the 80s and today. I always thought that this was our future in the 1990s.

oh god yes! I've wanted them to do a full recording of this for like forever!
I don't know how and I don't care how, but this cover is better than the original song.

Protomen are shit fuck game based music. This song is shit compared to the original.

Their total eclipse of the heart cover is the definitive version and no one can convince me otherwise

Great cover.
Dope
This is a bloody good cover
If only they recorded their cover of "Against All Odds" and put it on the album too.
They did an awesome ballroom blitz cover that I expected to be on the album. I was a bit disappointed.
+Kafei Houraisan Aizawa you know what i was hoping for? that invincible/mother mash up... shit was bad ass
I could totally see Dr. Light singing this at the end of Act II.
Darkmage1293 I think it was supposed to take place right before Emily, Dr.Light's wife, was killed. it was either that or right after The Hounds.

Ashley Teel That could be true. Where does "I drove all night" fit in then?

+Ashley Teel There's a good chance he was drunk the entire time XD

They said on their website that now that this is out, there is nothing between them and Act 3, meaning it is next.
Yes YES YESSSSSSSSSSSS!
Blues They've also made the joke that whenever someone asks, they add three years. XD
I'm from the future. We're still waiting
so many years this comment is old
I dunno if I can go with "better than the original", but it's pretty damn good.
No way....didn’t know they did a cover of Silent running ...
Every time i hear the original come on the radio, it feels hollow. This version has so much more energy
Fuck yeah great😍😍😍😍
This is better than the original
I love this song, such powerfull lyrics, mike and the mechanics original version sounds a little dated next to this, but still a great song.
What is the speech at the end from?

The original song is the best, prophetic. Which side are you on.....?
damn idk if i like this or mikes version better they are both epic. goosebumps
they screwed up the lyrics by substituting
During this pandemic...and Trump....and America crashing into the night...🌙...This song almost feels prophetic...and like it was written for this dark era. Who knows our future....STILL...If they find this message, tell them we tried. 💜💜💜
STARTED OFF SLOW, PICKED UP FAIRLY WELL! STILL PREFER THE ORIGIONAL!!!!!!
