    Awesome job guys. Any way I could get the plans. I would love to build one for mine this season. Tired of waking up to a pond on the inside of the hub.

    Hey guys, awesome video. Thinking of doing something like this... what kind / model heater is that?

    • @fishnmar
      @fishnmar 4 роки тому +3

      The heater is the Mr. Heater Blue Flame Propane heater. We love it. The hub is insulated well enough that we leave the blue flame thermostat at the lowest setting and it actually gets too hot in there the most of the time. Best to you!

      We use an indoor outdoor carpet and to date, and with various ice conditions, the floor and carpet have not stuck to the ice.

    What is the insulated floor made out of?

    • @BadassTackleTV
      @BadassTackleTV  5 років тому +4

      The insulated floor is comprised of waterproofed underlayment (for weight purposes) 1 x 2's which are also watersealed and 1" foam board.

    we always run a floor in our hubs you don't need the insulation just getting off the ice 2 inches is all you need. and leave the snow so floor sits level and insulates for free. takes me 5 min. just lay the floor drill sweep put house up

    • @fishnmar
      @fishnmar 4 роки тому

      Pretty much what we do, however, we have found that with the insulation, we are able to be in our hub for a week at a time and not cause our heat that we run inside to melt the flooring into the ice to make it harder for us to take it up upon leaving! Best to you Quack Killers

      @@fishnmar makes sense we do 2 to 3 day trips and the heat still melts a little. never been froze down yet or even a prob. we use 2x2 frame and runners then plywood. either way its awesome been doing it for 4 years and don't see anyone els really doing it

      @m3mhunter 2 роки тому

      @@dennysmith5235 Agreed. I think the floor would be fine but I will guarantee that green indoor/outdoor carpet is not coming up after any water penetrates it. A guy is going to be boiling water and getting it to release in patches... or laying down salt for the same effect.

    So my good friend has a new Otter Monster Lodge and he built an insulated floor just like this. After spending two and a half days out of a plan for day trip the floor could not hold back the amount of water from underneath. He only heated it enough to enjoy comfort not overheated. We are trying to figure out a way to make it not flood. We believe the floor needs to be separated from the ice or this becomes a flooding nightmare every time.
    Anybody discover a remedy for this? We have plenty of ideas to share.
    And to all that are knocking this idea clearly don't love fishing and they don't go out for more than 2 days

    I think you did a great job on the tent floor setup. Too bad it takes multiple people to install and setup the unit. I am guessing that you can install some type of heat source to heat the inside beside the sun. I have heard that most of rhe lp heaters have carbon monoxide issues. Can the tent handle a wood burner with a stovepipe through the window?

    • @BadassTackleTV
      @BadassTackleTV  Рік тому

      There are people who have added the feature of wood burning stove...its another DIY project on youtube but yes, it can be done!

      For people that don't like to be out on the ice directly like little kids, wife, etc, it works great to keep them warm, and a great sense of security. Also, Wyoming doesn't allow for leave in place huts and the ice doesn't get thick enough for a substantial amount of weight. We spend days and nights out on the ice so lobg term comfort is our priority. I'm liking the idea of the big screen. 🤔
