Man this video has got me thinking. I’m 37 and just started piddling on my board again after a couple decades. All the tools and supply’s available at work to make this rail. Thanks for the inspiration.
Thanks for the video! do you have some tips to make sure the rail dont move back and forward once we slide it? I dont think I was able to balance the one I made. Manny thanks!
You can put rubber pads on the bottom, or just make it really heavy! So you can fill the tube verticals or horizontal with sand. If all else fails just bolt it to the concrete
Into The Dirtshop Hey! I'm a scooter rider(I hope you don't hate me). You know you've done something right when you see all the positive comments that you are getting! The finish product looks so legit. Hats off to you!
Heads up to welding noobs. Do not weld galvanized metal with out a respirator or really good ventilation! clean it up first. you will get a better weld.
RavingRyan no way it's $5k. You can buy a new flux core welder for $90 the one I used came with a mask and welding material out of the box which will work just fine, I bought a 2 wheel bench grinder for $25 used, you can find that hand held grinder for about $100 new and metal from a scrapyard for a few cents a pound.
Can you please let us know where you can get such a pipe? I can't find anything anywhere that is a thick gauge. Most is thin like for exhaust pipes. It looks like that was used for something before. Can you let us know where you got it from? Almost reminds me of a structural support pipe. Thanks
awesome video, did you just spray paint it with any regular spray paint? Looking to do this soon and I was thinking of what to spray it with so it doesnt get rusty and keeps grinding.
Guys this is a good idea! Never build a rounded grind rail because you will never get used to it. Always use flat rails because you can get used to the balance on it and then when you feel bored using the flat rail for a while, you can start using a rouned rail because you already learned the balance on the flat rail and it wont be hard to grind on a rouned rail. Thanks😎
And these measurements are what i told you. place the legs to the side of the pipe. Take a pen. Draw the circle. As it all depends on your pipe .. that is exactly the measurement you need.. the one from YOUR pipe.
Look @ all these haters. Btw, a lot of men have those tools in their garage. With the exception of the bandsaw, I do. Question though, how big is the pipe? Length/width. I dont skate, but considering making one for some neighborhood kids.
If you cant slide on a rail without wax... you don't have the proper skills :) Practice dude. Get your ollies down well and and get some control. You can slide any rail, really any without wax... even really rusty ones.
alright everyone grab your welder from your garage..... who has a welder? lol
+ehvv in Pittsburgh, every household has a welder
ehvv me...sorry u don't have
Lol
I have 3 I'm only 14 every should have a welder
Into The Dirtshop i like in pittsburgh and only 1 of my friends has a welder no one else i know does
*For those with no welder*
•Buy rail (metal shop/hardware store)
•Precut at shop
•Drive to a Muffler shop
•Pay for weld
•Drive home
• *Skate*
That’s been my go to when I was a kid. Ask a Parent or Sibling to drive you.
JJE thanks man good stuff
Into The Dirtshop
It’s a different approach but still DIY. Gotta share the knowledge just as you have. 👏🏽
Thanks that’s awesome
I guess I’m not making a skate rail.
Billy Noresco there is a vid on keenramps on how to build a rail and super cheap
Rent a welder once you learn a skill you have it forever
Edit: or pick up a old rail from abandon skatepark etc
you wild for welding without gloves lol
Fax
wtf i have been working on a metal workshop and i didnt use gloves one single time, sometimes not even glasses, hahah just close your eyes.
AQ 99 im already dead inside
ZiLaR well..
Dequarius Forester he’s just gonna go blind not die 😂
Dude looks really dope. Looks like it came straight out the store. 😍😍
yo thanks bro!

Awesome. I'm going to school for pipe welding and I'll probably be adding a lot of cool features to my towns skatepark
Thanks! awesome man!
Gotta love that flux-core!!
Back before I got a bottle

You can put rubber pads on the bottom, or just make it really heavy! So you can fill the tube verticals or horizontal with sand. If all else fails just bolt it to the concrete
All that in 30 minutes! That’s crazy.

Lim YK hmph... scooter... no offense but I literally got ran over by a scooter the other day😂
- GamerGuy130 - No offense but who the fuck cares?😂😴
Nice! I wonder if instead of cutting a circular shape in the square tubing if you could just cut two slits in the tubing to butt it up? 🤔
That could work as well!
Holy flux core welds batman!
Nice Job B!
Thanks man!
Heads up to welding noobs. Do not weld galvanized metal with out a respirator or really good ventilation! clean it up first. you will get a better weld.
And you wont get galvy flu.
"How To Build A Rail In 30 Minutes!" or, if your like me, "How To Build A Rail In 4 Hours And $5,000 Later"
RavingRyan How $5k???!??!!!?
mumsa hul The tools
RavingRyan can you list the tools you bought please?
mumsa hul I didnt buy any, because of the price

Check your local recycling yard they typically have thicker pipes
the back feeble was tiigghhtt haha Man I need to make a rail and get back into skateboarding!
definitely dude make one!
badass fabrication
Thanks dude!!
Gloves genius
Definitely need a flat rail soon, I’ve been dying to start those but most ledges are too high for me atm and most curbs around my city are rounded.
Definitely build one of these in a flat rail version!
Can you make a pole jam? I'm learning how to wield in school this year and I want to make one.
+
Tyler Grogg awesome idea, I'll see if I can weld one up in a few weeks here
Tyler Grogg hi check out destroying the bmx grind box
love that tiny wheel sander/grinder. Anyone know what they're called or know of the exact product he's using?
That’s called a bench grinder! Thanks for watching
How much was that handheld bandsaw thing? I've never seen one before!
Good job man!!!
Thanks man
This was awesome. Great build/video!!!
thanks man appreciate you checkin it out!
awesome video, did you just spray paint it with any regular spray paint? Looking to do this soon and I was thinking of what to spray it with so it doesnt get rusty and keeps grinding.
If you want a professional finish that will last longer you’ll need to get it powder coated
I just spray painted it
Well I think I'm going to buy one finally
Nice! Maybe a buddy could make you one if you know somebody?
Hola gracias...Ya empiezo a hacer uno y por eso via su video...👍
awesome!!
Nice vid! Definetly trying to make one at school
sick!
Love the pace and style of your video dude!
+Stuff I Made thanks!!
damn this is so cool!
Thanks!
What time of welding is this? Flux core or gas?
well done !
thanks!
Btw how much did all this cost in order to make the rail?
Nice man I recently made one but with a square rail instead of round
awesome! i love riding flat bars! how did you make it?
sick dude!
Metal active Gas welding ?
You’re awesome 👍🏼
Thanks man
Dude how do i keep the rail not moving while i am boardsliding on it?
Jump higher, put grip tape on the bottom, use sand bags, screw it to the concrete, skate faster
last two videos have been top notch, love it. gotta send me over some stickers.
+benjaminbuilt come and get em!
Nice bro
Thanks!!
What is the funnel and tube gas extracted you are using when you are welding?
Nice buildl! keep your ass safe lol
hahah ill try!

Into The Dirtshop No worries man im always here to help people from mistakes! Nice rail tho i love it
Im making mine in school rn in my welding class
That’s awesome!
Anyone knows a special paint/.. which makes the rail slippery and prevents your skis/ board from scratching?
Powder coat would be the best but it will still get scratched eventually
it looks like a floor bar for gymnastics
dont ever say that in the skate community
hahah!
@@Not.Reese777 omgg i am so sorry 😭 that was 4 yrs ago... i even started skateboarding last yr :((
30 mins. of building, 1 and a half year to get the enough savings and get the materials and tools necessary to build
Bruh how a welder can be like 90$ lmao I have 3 in the shop out in our barn
@@tuckermcvey a welder yeah but also you need an angle grinder and other shiz. if you dont have a job 150$ can take a lil time to get.
@@MThompsonvought you can also rent tools from home depot or lowes....
nice work dude
looks great
+HendrikJL thanks!! It was a fun one!
+Into The Dirtshop i can totally imagine that. i would love to build something like this on day.

I am going to build one!🔥
🙌🙌🙌
Sick!
thanks yo!
Cal you tell,em the dimensions of the round tubing?
I believe it was 3”
Awesome Thxxxxxxx!!!!!!!!
Nice
Cool vid
thanks!
Where did you get the leg pipe from
I think it was from a weight lifting bench
Good video bro
Eddy Bonilla thanks dude!
If you can please say the height length . I really appreciate that
18” tall or so. 7 feet long I believe
What paint did you use
Just some black rustoleum spray paint
Awesome video check out destroying the bmx grind box
i like his scooter
Lol
What kind of paint did you use?
Just some rustoleum spray paint
@@IntoTheDirtshop Thank you!
for the base plate it's 3/16" right? not 3/8" cause is almost 1/2" and that's pretty tall compared to what you have.
Sakoun Chillen yea I think I used 3/16”
soo sick !!!
thanks man!
I thought about buying a 300 dollar welder for this purpose.
What are the thicknesses of the plate and round tubing
Plate was 3/16 I think and the tubing was schedule 40
How much was the bandsaw please?? And how did you measure the half circles for the legs. Great video.
... dude. lol
He has the pipe.. You just need a pen
Dan P I meant what are the measurements.. For cutting out.
And these measurements are what i told you.
place the legs to the side of the pipe. Take a pen. Draw the circle. As it all depends on your pipe .. that is exactly the measurement you need.. the one from YOUR pipe.
Dan P that's not really what you said before. But thanks for explaining it to me.
That is exactly what i said before :) You just did not (want to) see the obvious.
But honestly .. the wielding is the part that is not easy.
Fucking beautiful bro! Making it this weekend 🤙🏼
awesome!!
How far from the ends of the rail are the legs
Probably around 8” or so
do you have a link to the welding tutorial?
Sorry I never made one! But there are a ton of videos on UA-cam
the foot plates must be stronger
i put some strives in 45 degrees angle on it
They could be but this works out great!
wow, that intro made me clinch up lol. Awesome video and style dude!!
haaha i had to take one for the team!
that was,,,bad ass bro!-
haha thanks man!
Awesome!
thanks!!
Cool man!
thanks brotha!
What kind of welder is that
Lincoln MIG!
I need one rail how much by I livsalia from calornia
When the welding memes pay off
Lol
Dope!
Thanks!!
Look @ all these haters. Btw, a lot of men have those tools in their garage. With the exception of the bandsaw, I do.

It’s 2.5” pipe, approx 7 feet long or so and 14-16” wide legs
@@IntoTheDirtshop thanks, good video btw 👍
Kris Carman thanks man!
Ooh yea👍🏼
👍👍👍👍
3:53 when you try to talk to your crush
lol!
Now I just need to buy a handheld bandsaw, $80 of scrap metal, a wheel grinder, an angle grinder, and a spot welder. Should only cost me about $900.
Can you give me the measurements of the stand
I think it was 14” wide and 10” tall or so
I have a homemade rail and it doesn’t slide at all I wonder if I need to paint it first
TMO_TV you need skate wax
Paint helps as well as wax
If you cant slide on a rail without wax... you don't have the proper skills :)
Practice dude. Get your ollies down well and and get some control. You can slide any rail, really any without wax... even really rusty ones.
Plz
I already have the pipe for the main part
See below!
I think buying all of the tools and metal is more money than 150
Yes it is definitely more than that
Into The Dirtshop because I was going to make of buy a circle rail
👍👍🔥🔥🔥
Thanks yo
How high is the rail
About 14”
14 inch?
Dion yes
The welder probably costs more than a premade rail
it does but now I could make x100 rails!
what the tall cm ?
probably about 30 cm
Very nice video. I wish i could weld. I wish i could skate. Heck, i wish i was better at video editing too.
haha thanks man! all fun! you should def give them all a shot!
I would pay this guy to make me one
Into The Dirtshop dude same!
Also, for it's use, those welds are fine but for anything that would require it have a good amount of pressure, I don't think id trust it.
Skip on the cake fatty .. and all is good :)
I thought that this was for fingerboards bc of the thumbnail lol
Haha!
why aren't you wearing gloves when u weld lol
Because he is a man lol
or lazy
lol
Lol you wild
🤙
If you look closely you might notice it's time lapsed...
No one wants to hear your crazy farfetched conspiracy theories. Next you'll be saying that the earth is flat... c'mon now.
I JUST USED A PVC PIPE AND NAILED WOOD ON IT
