Wow...thank you all SO much for your kind words and support ♥️ I truly feel blessed to have so many incredible people here on this channel...
While I may not have time to respond to every comment, please know that I did read it and greatly appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts, encouragement, and personal stories with me. I'm honestly at a loss for words, but I do hope you all know how much you mean to me.
I truly believe that following our hearts and having the courage to be vulnerable, and sharing our true selves with the world is what we are all called to do. I feel so grateful to have this opportunity to share my journey with you, and wish you all the best on yours.

Im a PT and i dunno i feel that you should have finished your degree just to have it... because you obviously have some type of passion for it and classroom work is VERY different than working with patients. However I understand that you have a creative side that you want to pursue which is great1

I might admit: as a engineering student who just finished his first year of studying far from home with pretty good marks, I started watching this video with instant judgement, even though I really like the content of your UA-cam channel, and your thoughts and ideas in general. It takes a while to realise that this judgement is nourished by my own insecurities. I know that what I've chosen to study is really what I will enjoy doing in life, but still, the feeling that something's missing or that there's something I don't know about doesn't let me go. Wanna let you know that this video gave me food for thought and the desire to find what is missing for the even bigger happiness and persnal fulfillment. Thank you and wish you all the good luck and the strength to succeed in your life choices.

Leaving school to pursue your dreams is not a weakness nor a sign of failure. It's an act of bravery. Just like how you were brave enough to post your situation onto UA-cam to share with your viewers. It takes courage. Just know that we are all here for you and will always support you! Thank you for being so open with us, it's not easy. Just know that nobody else's opinions of you matters; if you're happy doing what you're doing, forget them. You do you!

Everyone commenting is being very nice and uplifting but I noticed a lot of the people are making it seem as if she is dropping out of college and isn't getting a degree. She has a bachelor's degree, that's a huge achievement. She may be dropping out of getting a doctorate but she can go many places and get tons of jobs with the education she has. So yes she should do what she wants and follow her dreams but she is highly educated and has a degree to fall back on. So she is not failing out of school really, just out of school to be a particular career. Follow you dreams honey, you have gotten far the way it is!

I have never been passionated about it... sometimes I cry so hard because I'm unhappy or just OK most of time... But I just can't leave it... I mean.. Ihave been here for 4 years and I don't even know what's my real passion in life.... I'm so happy for you, for been so brave. But it's so heartbreaking for me...

Carly Ruíz - You're always on time to pursue your dream career. Studying medicine doesn't just end when you graduate, you need to study constantly afterwards and keep up with the new technologies and techniques. It's a career in which you gotta be 100% interested or else it will be a hard and unhappy work life.... I'm on my 2nd year of med school. It's hard and I know it will just get harder, but I'm positive that passion is the key to success :)
Just follow your dreams! Better late than ever!!

bh b you only need a bachelors degree for med school in America. Everywhere else you can get in after HS.

    • @TheAbleeblee

In New Zealand we have a one-year 'health science' program and your grades in that year can get you straight into med school. If you don't get in, you can go down the postgraduate route which requires you to complete a bachelor's degree but most people officially start medicine in their second year of study.

A lot of people feel like you do. Im 21 and in my 4th year too and sometimes i also feel lost, i mean it is pretty stressful and not as glamorous as we all thought before we started, but there is something in it for everyone. Theres countless possibilities after med school though. After you could switch careers, and you'd have a pretty impressive cv as a doctor. You can go into research, health service management, do a 2nd degree in biomedical engineering, public health & politics.. the list goes on! Don't feel like you're stuck, feel like you're blessed to be in medical school and excelling! Best of luck in finding your passion :)

time off is always good! I think that you'll either continue doing what you wanted to (go back to school) or maybe even realize that you're passionate about something else. i graduated from undergrad last year and I'm doing the same!

    • @monkiram
      @monkiram 7 років тому +8

I did 4 years of undergrad, directly followed by med school and I'm in my 3rd year now. I plan to take a year off before starting residency and everybody I know is freaking out about this because med school is already so long and expensive and nobody understands that in the grand scheme of things, 1 year is so insignificant. I'm so burnt out, I can't finish 3rd year with all its exams and work while doing major extremely difficult board exams and doing residency applications all at the same time :(
Since we're all talking about how stressful school is, I thought I'd vent to the internet lol

I'd be lying if I didn't say that I feel as though you are making a mistake....but that doesn't mean YOU ARE making a mistake. Only you know what's right for you and your life. Myself or anyone else doesn't have the right to tell you that what you're doing is wrong. I'm 26 years old and used to feel quite similar to you. My entire life I wanted to be a psychologist. I started university and loved it at first but like you said..my mind was always elsewhere. I loved writing, painting, traveling and being creative. I felt like I was persueing the career in order to please my parents & in a lot of ways I was. I ended up taking a lot of years off after wasting a ton of my parents money. Then I realized my passions weren't so focused and if I was going to get all the things I wanted out of life, I needed a real job. I started a bachelor's program for my RN and didn't start loving it until recently. I finally feel like I'm on the right track and I'm glad that you do too. This comment isn't to discourage you.. my sister has her doctorate in PT and loves working w her patients in the hospital but that doesn't mean it's for everyone. The reason you're so upset is because you feel like you're letting people down. Perhaps you are BUT those people aren't going to matter in 30 years when you're stuck working a job you absolutely hate and thinking of what could have been. I wanted to be creative but didn't have a plan as to how to make an income doing so...you do. Not everyone needs a degree to be successful. If your heart is in it, you're happiness is all that matters. School is always going to be there; your platform on SM may not be. Take advantage of it and have faith in yourself and screw the people who are trying to tell you you're making a mistake.

    • @christinasmith8338

Michele Hatch She does have a degee though, a Bachelor's, which is a huge achievement in of itself. She can get a ton of jobs with this degree so her dropping out isn't the end of the world she is still educated. She is just not getting the degree she needed to be exactly what she wanted before which is perfectly ok. She still has a degree and can go many places with what she has. So she may not be as educated as she would have been but she still is so she has room to do many things.

    • @angelg8445
      @angelg8445 6 років тому +5

its not the "college" its a doctoral program. Getting into PT school is very competative and attaining a bachelor's in exercise science is difficult. I was in PT school and dropping out was one of the hardest things and worst things i ever did. I do plan on going back but its easy when u are young. Im sorry but I feel like a few more years of school would have been worth it. Finishing PT school in 3 years is easily attainable. This is a mistake. Social media is a hobby and I hope she decides to go back.

College may not be "everything" but it is undeniable that it is a plus over people who haven't gone to it more often than not. At least for employers. Yes, your intelligence isn't necessarily correlated with going to university but when you're looking for a job, people will care. Sometimes even if you're looking for a job in a field unrelated to what you've been studying. Because it shows that you can follow schedules and can deal with deadlines and have a sort of work ethic so to speak.

I spent 4 years studying things that were not useful to me at three different schools. I wasted my parents money, I hated my life, I hated the thought of working as a hairdresser and I hated myself for not making a change sooner. But I forgave myself, I needed those experiences to grow, and at the RIPE age of 25 I am starting again and trying to make a life for myself. I wish I had been as clear-minded as you. You are the change I want to see in the world. We are a privileged generation, you can go back to studying anything you want at anytime if you so choose. We all go through different stages and if you follow your true path you will come closer to happiness. You do you boo, I'll be over here 'mirin. Namaste, peace and love

You are so smart, it would be easy for you to finish. Even if your heart wasn't in it. It could always be a back up job. I don't know if that is possible for you at this point. I can see so many things in your future. You are so smart. I wish you the best. I hope you do well with this choice that you have made. Don't feel bad it's your life it's your choices. Dear Caitlin. You are so brave for making this decision. I think not many people are brave enough to follow their heart and that's such a pitty and a waste of happiness. We live to figure out what life is about and I think (one of) the most import things in life is to learn to be the most loving/caring/honest person you can be. to love yourself, others, animals, the world.. and follow the path you are meant to follow. You made this decision and you are spreading this message. You have your priorities streight.
only you can feel if you're on the right path. I just want to say you are such a talented woman, so genuine, warm-hearted, smart and creative. You will figure it all out. it's gonna be okay.
(Also, I wanted to say that you don't have to listen to un-supportive people. most of them are probably unhappy themselves but not courageous enough to follow their heart. ) You are the only person that knows what is best for you. Keep believing in yourself, just like we believe in you. Lot of love 💕

So, I just wanted to say thank you so much for making this video, and I'm proud of you for having the courage to take the jump! Good luck with everything, know that we, your subscribers, are here to support you.

I am happy. I am. And I can tell you are, and you will achieve so much.
So again, congratulations, and I wish you all the best on your new path! I will support you as much as I can!

Thank you for your vulnerability and showing others what this looks like.I was always amazed at how you managed with graduate school, u-tubing and all your meal planning, prep, shopping, yoga and social life so not surprised that your passion was slightly misplaced in school and that you found your way 'home'. Way to go kiddo!! You never know where this will take you one day, and who knows, it may well include some form of PT along the way?? Or not! Best of luck, love your channel and your energy!

Here's the thing... you have everything going for you. Go ahead and try it. If it works, awesome, you win. If you don't, you will be fine. School isn't going anywhere. Your grades are good and you can always go back, if that's what you choose. You have youth on your side and you only have to take care of you for now. Life is different when you have others who depend on you, like if you had children or a spouse. Be free and take the chance while you can. Good luck! 🍀👍

My mom told me I'd be a starving artist--real supportive--I told her I couldn't talk to her while I pursued this. But, I listened to myself & now I work 2-3 days per wk from 2-5 1/2hrs as a colorist and run the salon, am debt free & own our first house. Those that challenge your dreams, I say, "Bring it on and use it as your fuel that you will succeed." This will be the best decision & forge the path to complete your dreams. Well, there are jobs that are more secure than others, and finding work and making enough to get by can be extremely hard. However, some people value other things more than security and stability. It all depends on what one values in life. I personally get really anxious thinking about not being able to pay the bills and the possibility of being homeless, so a stable job that I enjoy and working towards a really long-term plan is something that I value but not everyone is like that. If this is what makes Caitlin happy in the long run, kudos to her for going for it.

You are not alone. This year I graduated from high school and thought I needed to go to a big and well known university to pursue a degree in elementary education. I got into every one I could ever think of but life happened. So instead of going off to university like all my friends, I found myself going to community college this fall. I was angry that my plans hadn't gone the way I had planned it but I know God has a plan for me and my life. He also has a plan for you. I understand how you feel. I completely understand dropping out because you've found an alternative career path that's very successful and I think that's a perfectly great option.
However, I don't think it's a good idea at all to drop out of school because you don't feel passionate about the classes. I'm in my 3rd year of medical school and my first term was unbelievably stressful to a point it was very difficult to cope. I considered dropping out every day. But eventually I learned to deal with the difficulty and managed to get through the first 2 years which are the most difficult. 3rd and 4th year are rotations, so learning in hospitals and clinics, and they reminded me why I decided to go to med school and now I'm so grateful I didn't drop out when it was hard. I discovered that most of my classmates had the same feelings, they were unbelievably stressed, considered dropping out, and most did their best to keep going and were grateful that they did. Nobody likes class lol. That's just how school is unfortunately, but it's worth it in the end when you have a degree and so much knowledge that you didn't have before :)

I agree! The thing is I didn't just not feel passionate about the classes, I did not feel passionate about the CAREER in general. i fully support your decision to do this. i understand the struggle of balancing an interest in science and a passion for creative endeavors as well. i'm thinking of pursuing environmental studies at NYU for my undergrad (i recently transferred here.) i love film too so i think i'll minor in that and/or animal studies. you are arguably one of the most hardworking people i've seen on youtube and i'm so proud that you've accepted this part of yourself. you're obviously incredibly intelligent. you have your bachelor's degree in a science which in and of itself is an achievement, but having this youtube channel on top of that just shows how amazing you are. let me just say this right now: *it is NOT a bad thing and it doesn't make you less intelligent to pursue creative fields instead of a STEM career.* being right AND left brained is an incredible thing but i know how hard it can be. i wish you the absolute best and if you're ever in manhattan feel free to message me (:

Here you've been so honest, so i feel the need to be too. The last few months i've really started watching you a lot. I found you not only inspirational as a vegan, being a vegeterian myself, but also academically.
Ive started university this year, and our system in europe is very different to how things work for you guys in the States. I've been told the first year can be very rough, but as i had always been an extremely successful student, i didn't think much of it. I was working hard on all my classes, working all weekends on a job i didn't really like ( and i've worked constantly all trough highschool supporting myself, no summers off, no holidays no vacations, EVER) and i really thought i could make it. Honestly, i thought i HAD TO make it. And i was watching you and you were so good at everything you do, and i was like, heck if she can, i can too.
Fact is i cant, i've reached breaking point, just like you cant. I'm tired, i need a break.
I was feeling really down on myself today, because i did really poorly on two exams i had this week, and my first thought was '' How does she do it? why am i not that awesome?''
And now i come home to this video. And honestly, I never liked you more. You finally look human, and real, and very.. relatable?
I support you 100%, and maybe I don't fully agree with your decision but i appreciate it so fricking much, that you decided to share this with us. I'm so glad you got this weight off your chest. You are an incredible, inspiring and beautiful human being and even if you dont end up seeing this ever, i still felt like writing it down.

Everyone keeps asking me what school I'm going to and what I'm doing next year, but all I can tell them is that I'm not going to a specific school, although I do plan on taking courses and studying plant-based nutrition in the future, whether it be at a college/university or not. What I really really have felt the urge to do lately, from the bottom of my soul, is to travel and find who I am on an even deeper level than I already feel now and I am so so excited to do it. And I can 100% relate with people not supporting the decision not to complete school. It hurts my heart to see you cry in this video! You're so sweet and I have been so inspired by you. Basically, I want you to know that you're not the only one who feels this way and that if no one else supports you, know that I do (not that you really need my support). Chase your dreams and follow your heart

Gurl you have to do you. Life is short and as long as your happy and paying your bills, do what you love. Many people would kill for that chance. Good luck 🍀

My goodness Caitlin! It makes me so sad to see you cry. Thank you for all of your inspirational words and messages. You're an amazing person and what you did I'm sure was so so difficult, but I'm happy you chose your passion. I'm so happy you were able to do that and I wish you the best. I've always been that person to stress over everything out of my control in life and especially when it comes to my education. I do have goals of pursuing a career I'm passionate about and I feel like the universe again has aligned and has sent this video to me for a reason. The reason being that I've been so stuck between two different majors and just choices I make for extracurriculars that relate to what I want to study. This is just another great thing that has come to me this weekend that has helped me choose my passion over what others think is best. I know what is best for me in terms of what I want to do and you sharing this is just so amazing and I'm so so grateful! Thank you! Love you and good luck!

You have my support 100% Maybe one day you'll decide to go back to grad school and get your doctorate but for right now... you've found your calling. It has made you happy. And from what I've seen, food and being creative was an escape for you. And now that you have realized that this is what you want to do right now, you can brain dump all those creative juices into your socials. Grow in ways you never thought you could and we, your veggies, will stand behind you and help be your rock so you can blossom and create the sunshine you need. Please please please don't think that we are disappointed in you. You're human, just like us. You show us your raw self and so we choose to give you love in return. I'm excited to see what the soon future will hold for you. Wipe the tears away, eat a mango, soak up the vitamin D, and go for it. You got this! We got your back!

Dear Caitlin! Please, don't be sad! Some may disagree but I think you made the right choice because doing what you love most, following your heart, and being happy are the most important things in the world. You are already very successful and I know that even a greater and brighter future awaits you. Just know that a lot of people, including myself, love you, admire you, and support you 100%. :-D

I'm on the same page with you and i totally relate to what you said about your mental & physical heath taking a toll. Having to go through the motions of something your heart just isn't in anymore is so exhausting. I always thought i was going to be in the medical field and major in biology, but after the hardest year of my life at school, i realized that biology and the school i was at just wasn't meant for me. I've always had a interest in languages but never took it seriously but now i'm switching schools to become a sign language interpreter and am going to be self teaching myself french. I know that being an interpreter won't make me as much money as being a physical assistant but i know it'll bring me more happiness. Thank you for this video Caitlin and thank you for helping me realize that nothing else but my happiness matters ❤

This is my favourite video of you so far. I loved watching you cry and feel all those emotions and feeling release from saying things you've wanted to get off your chest for a while. I cried with you because I've been through/going through the same thing. I loved seeing you be real, be human, cry and feel pain because it makes me realise how beautiful people are. So thank you Caitlin, you've touched me allllll the way in Scotland :)
