    This came up in the feed and I watched it much more knowledgeably than the last time. Great work. Also your voice has a different quality in those days.

    Simon is a Wizard!!
    I cannot imagine him trying to figure everything out. How he decided to apply that effect or that behaviour and everything is born.
    Too much wisdom and so, thank you very much for sharing with us.
    We can learn lots of small things in every tutorial of yours.
    Great! Congratulations!

    that is the mostly informative tutorial in Motion, even if you don’t want to make Cell Devision, you have to watch this tutorial, it is pandora box inside!
    Thank you Simon!

      Amazingly for me, pretty much followed all that you did, and why it was done. Thanks for this. I'll have a go at recreating this!

    Simon,
    thank you for taking the ‘gaussian / levels’ effect, that has amazed me since I first saw it, to an astounding level with your prolific compositing skills. It has been about 4 years since I have discovered your wonderful Apple Motion series, and have meant to send my thoughts to you upon seeing that first Fiery Star tutorial that captured my imagination; I have been a student and fan ever since!

    That Gaussian Blur/Levels adjustment for the cell division alone is absolutely brilliant

      To be fair it's one of the oldest tricks in the compositor's handbook (with countless very powerful uses) but I'm more than happy to take the credit for "inventing" it ;-)

    I've been watching this same video for 3 days now.
    Admittedly I did my own as I listened although it took me 5 times trying.
    So after spending 5 full hours doing the show and tell with this vid, I was able to come up with a replicate of your work!
    I've subbed! :-)
    It's not often I see posts That are coming from someone that has practical knowledge working with Motion.
    I will be watching more of your vids.

    Thats amazing. Although my BG is almost totally overpowered by something so the clouds and particles are hardly visible, but thats a problem to fix later. Love it.

    • @SimonUbsdell
      @SimonUbsdell  5 років тому

      Thanks. I think your problem might be that you've put the background inside the master group where it's then being affected by the lights. I realise I didn't make it completely clear that I was excluding it from the master group when I made it.

    Hey, Simon. Great video. I've just discovered your channel and have had a look at your content (and subbed). Your knowledge of Apple Motion is tremendous, and you've a great teaching style, except a little fast for me as I'm just getting into Motion. I think if you did a series of beginner videos in a playlist you'd blow up like Blenderguru did when he did his donut tutorials. Still, best tutorials on Motion I've found so far. Thanks for the knowledge share

    Another great tutorial, thanks Simon. I love this effect and wondered if it was possible to achieve the effect with text included in the cells? I have tried but cannot achieve it as the text too is blurred, and have put the text in alternative group but that doesn't achieve the effect. Many thanks.

    • @SimonUbsdell
      @SimonUbsdell  4 роки тому

      Are you wanting the text to "blob" or not to "blob"? I can't quite visualise the effect you are asking for. Thanks.

    • @alankelly5456
      @alankelly5456 4 роки тому

      @@SimonUbsdellThanks for the reply Simon. How about - if the first cell, before the split had a text to say ;first' and then as the cells split the first cell would still be saying 'first' but as the second cell split out it would have a text saying 'second' for example. Leaving the two cells with their identifying names. I'm working on an animation showing a group emerging from the parent group and the blob effects works very effectively. Hope this helps :)

      @@alankelly5456 Hi Alan, Could you please email me and I can talk this through in more detail? (simon@tokyo-uk.com) I see what you want to do but there are a lot of questions about how you'd want it to look.

    Hi Simon
    Thanks for this great tutorial.
    It works wonderful
    One Point: You wrote the Display Group will be fix resolution.
    But the group is automatically 3D. I go back to 2D in this group.
    Hope it's okay
    Best regards Peter
    Still waiting for more

    • @SimonUbsdell
      @SimonUbsdell  5 років тому +1

      You need to take great care when adding lights or cameras that you don't accidentally make groups 3D that you don't want to be 3D. Consequently I never allow Motion to automatically turn all the groups to 3D - I want to make sure I only affect the groups I choose. It can really mess with your project very badly if you're not careful with this. In this case where I added the camera I was very careful not to allow Motion to make everything 3D - I chose what to make 3D. Note also that you can (very dangerously) set your Preferences to that new groups are automatically 3D - this is a very, very bad idea and I cannot possibly recommend that you use it even if you are very experienced.
