I'm so glad I found you! I'm a stay at home homeschool mom of 2 and I've been struggling with alot of anxiety. I've always been a fan of rocks and stones and also have a collection. I recently decided to try wrapping and jewelry making and it has helped me SO much! Thank you for your amazing videos and your kind sweet soul!
watched all your videos and this is the first time putting your voice with your face and man you are as beautiful as your work. WOW!!!!!!
I totally understand holding your designs. Honestly, all of the techniques and skills are covered in videos you've already posted. Anyone interested in making more complex and unique items just has to use what you've shared and ones own imaginative creativity. I feel you encourage creativity by showings us basics.
You are such a kind soul, and it's truly amazing how you are willing to share your knowledge on wire wrapping. I started out playing with wire until something happened, then discovered your UA-cam and learned sooo many cool techniques from you, and now I just play with wire until something pretty happens. Thank you for all of your amazing videos. You are truly an inspiration and I feel blessed that I own a couple of your pieces.
Another place to look for stones, tools, beads, wire etc is if your area has a rock and gem show annually. They're an awesome place to find & see stones in person!!
So happy to hear you say there will be “future videos,” so excited to see more! Thank you so much for all that you do! Your videos got me started with this art and when I lack inspiration in my work, you always push me in the right direction
I just had a look at your Instagram site. I gotta tell ya, your work just makes me smile! I love all your pieces, but the moon themes and the opal pendants are my favs. Thank you for sharing all your knowledge. This is just my hobby, and I do custom orders for friends. But I’m retired now and worked from age 14 to 63. I’m 64 now and with arthritis in my spine have no desire to start a business. I’m fascinated with the idea though and appreciated that you put this together for us out here who follow you and admire your work. You’re truly a gifted artist.
I have started making cabuchons from.the petrified wood I have in my yard. It is dark colored. I enjoy watching your videos so that I can begin wire wrapping them
Great video!😉👍Thanks for taking the time to answer your audience's questions. Appreciate it!👏😁 💛
It was fun to see your face. You match your kind , happy voice😃! You really are a great teacher. I have loved stone's all my life! After all these years I have a hugeand beloved collection. I have paid for several classes in hopes of learning how to develop the skills to do something beautiful (or at least decent) with them. I am an artist and pretty crafty, but your craft eluded me. I have been watching your tutorials( some many times)! I am so happy to be creating things I love. Thank you for sharing your amazing talents and creative artistry! Thank you also for your wonderful teaching style. That is a gift not everyone has, you definitely do. In gratitude for you,
Audri
Totally know what you are talking about…I too have been purchasing cabs (primarily) for about 10 years and the way I have gone above it is through Etsy. I find a seller that has wonderful pieces at reasonable price and I check to see how many stars the shop has then check the comments. I develop a relationship, I te
So wierd seeing you. So used to watching your hands lol
You make learning a new craft fun and easy! Thank you for all your tutorials and most of all for your time!
Thank you soo much for your time. Sharing your process from start to finish means a lot. Gracious. May you have many blessings enter into your life in all areas of your life. 🙏🙏❤🙅♀️
WOW! YOU'RE GORGEOUS!!!! Who knew? Gorgeous AND so talented! WOW!!!! 🤯🤯🤯🤯
Thank you so much 🤗
Thanks for the wide range of information. Mildly comforting to see that we're all in the same boat when it comes to buying stones. Take care Oxana!!!
I just want to say that I love and appreciate everything you do. You are such an inspiration for me. Congratulations on your website as well. It looks great :)
I love your videos! I bought some square and half round wire to try a few of your wraps. The stones video should be excellent!! I am really looking forward to seeing that one.
Thank's so much for sharing all of that information. I absolutely LOVE watching your videos and I learn so much from you. I'm alway's looking forward to any video that you put out. Thank's so much for sharing and being a good Teacher. 💜💜💜💜💜
cabochon stones!! IT'S THE KEY.
You are such a beautiful and kind teacher. Thank you so much for sharing your talent.
Thank you so much!
Thanks for that. Good to know. Same. I have rocks, stones, orbs, containers of all kinds of semiprecious stones all over my house. But the serach for the perfect stones to wrap continues...always looking. I was rifling thru containers last night and found 2 stashes i had forgotten about... so exciting!
Good to hear another smart lady also has mixed results with eBay!
Yes ur so right about that not every seller has the same stones all time
Thank you for all of the info, I appreciate your time and knowledge! Also, thank you for your recommendation for Rio Grande, they are the best, quality products and super fast processing of my orders many times they receive the order, fill it and ship it on the same day! Keep posting the tutorials and I will keep watching!
HI Oxana, I have been a wire-wrapper for many years and love doing it. Your pieces are SO stylistic and unique. I thought I would mention how I polish my finished pieces. I have never used liver of sulfur because when I began wrapping, I already owned a tumbler (had been my husband's when he used to reload ammo for his guns). It uses med-fine walnut shell which is a great medium for polishing up your pieces. I finish a piece and pop it in the tumbler for an hour or so, stone and all (even soft stones). I have never had a problem and any small scratches I may have made in the wire, polish right out and the wire (copper, silver, gold and even brass) all polish up to a gorgeous brightness. I get all of my wire from Rio so it is all excellent quality. And yes, good stones are tough to find. Keep the videos coming. It is always interesting to see how a different wrapper works.
Do your pieces not turn dark after being tumbled? Like eventually with time I mean, doesn't the copper still turn dark? I have a tumbler too, it uses steel shot, I use it to polish the copper after I have oxidized it with the liver or sulfur. I oxidize for the antique look it gives but also because copper so quickly turns dark so I noticed if it is oxidized then it is not as noticeable.
@@OxanaCrafts HI Oxana, nope I have never had any of my pieces, no matter what kind of wire I used, turn dark after tumbling. As a matter of fact, I do keep my finished pieces on non tarnish jewelry trays with tops on each tray to keep the air to a minimum. Maybe the pieces you have tumbled in your tumbler darkened due to the stainless steel media. Maybe try the med-fine walnut shell instead ?
I found your profile because I am slowly starting a small etsy business. For now I am not closely as good as you but I still want to start! At one time I want to learn and practice while filming me learning for youtube and I want to start with your owl! I'll put your shop in my description because it is beautiful. But I live in Canada. Have a good day and thank you so much for sharing all that information!!!! I really am slowly starting so my youtube still look like it is a personnal one and I don't have a name yet ahah. Good day and congratulations for all your beautiful crystal wraps design!
Best for luck with your new business!
woow you look great and natural ! thanks so much for every video you make. XXXXX
Thank you for sharing this information. Many questions answered and a lot confirmed. I have learned so many different techniques watching your tutorials and I have no problem letting people know where I came up with my pieces I create. Glad to pay it forward!
Creative, Smart and Gorgeous. Thanks for your videos as they've really helped me along the way.
Thank you so much for this video and for all your videos. You are so talented and create beautiful pieces. I may be the only person in the world who doesn’t like the look of copper once it’s been oxidised so I wouldn’t want to do that. I do love the look of bare copper but what does it look like after it oxidises naturally after a period of time? Thank you so much!
You are very welcome! So glad you are enjoying my videos. Copper darkens naturally and will eventually look "oxidized". You'd have to clean it often to keep it the light color.
Thank you for your informative tutorials!
It’s so nice to see a face behind the videos! Your so beautiful! I never expected to see someone so young! Lol. Thanks! It was a great idea to do this! Personalizes your mission. 😍
Thank you so much!!
I know I asked that question. I have a good collection nothing like yours probably. Thank you for your sincere answer, it makes sense. Will keep searching! ;)
Love your honesty ❤ You're beautiful inside and out 🤗
My apologies… I message him what I am looking for, if I don’t find what I want. But the trick is to purchase a couple of pieces that I do like, trust me, after that they will bend over backwards to help you. They will message you when special pieces or sales are available. I hope this helps those of you who are new. 🙏🏼❤️
I know a lot of people that oxidize the wire before actually wrapping. Also if you put it in a baking soda bath after the liver of sulfur bath it stops the oxidation. Sorry not trying to bother you just trying to help!! I use Ren wax to seal but there are other things that you can use.
Yes, baking soda or just soapy water works too. I would imagine it is quite messy wrapping with pre-oxidized wire.
I also use liver of sulfur , but there is other things you can use like boiled eggs.
Yes I heard eggs can work too because they contain a lot of sulfur naturally, but liver of sulfur is just so much easier for me :)
I used a boiled egg yolk. You can use it more than once if you store it in the fridge while oxidizing. When not using yolk it can be stored in the freezer. It's great if you want to use something non toxic and less stinky. 😁
Hi Oxana, in talking about wires - I live in France and have begun making jewelry only for a few months and you and your videos have become my best friend lol. Here in this country, it is first, extremely difficult to find square and half round wires. Between the jewelry suppliers that I use and Amazon, I have found one brand (Beadalon) of square and I imagine it is not dead soft because it is a pain in the butt to work with, as you said. In addition, I prefer my pieces to be silver-plated copper, too, so while I can find all the round wire I need in all gauges, these 2 types, not so much. Without paying a fortune in customs fees/international shipping, are you at al familiar with European companies that sell these types of wires that maybe I overlooked? Thank you and thank you so very very much for your tutorials which have really helped me "level up" in my jewelry making! xx
I'm not sure about Europe, I am in Australia. I use either copper or sterling silver, which I order from riogrande.com they are in US but they ship internationally
@@OxanaCrafts I did see that and I went to their site. My fear is customs fees. I will continue to look in this country but thank you so much for your rapid response!
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge, it is much appreciated. I love all of your work.
What an excellent video. Such a wealth of information 🤗 Thank you!
Btw can I adopt you?
Hey! She has a face! 😁 And you have the most adorable demeanor. Keep that spirit and keep making these videos.
You are the sweetest!! Thanks so much for all that you do. You have taught me so much over the last 2 years. Love and light to you and yours. Oh, I do have one question. Do you polish your Oxidized pieces? If so, what do you use? Thanks again.
Yes, I use extra fine stainless steel wool, wet with a bit of soap, to polish right after I oxidize. Then later on if a piece needs a touch up I usually use pro polish pads because it's quicker/easier for just a touch up.
Thank you so much for your response. I have used Sunshine Cloths, but I go through an awful lot of them. I might try the Propads, and I've been thinking about trying my tumbler and steel shot forever, but I'm always so scared something will get damaged. Have you ever used a tumbler? Thanks again!! 💜
Thank you for your thoughtfulness
Excellent vid. Thanks for taking the time.
Excellent information, Oxana, thank you!
Thank you for your tutorials
you are very welcome!
This was very helpful, thank you
You are very welcome!
Great information shared! Appreciate it so much!💜 And You’re Absolutely Adorable! Beautiful Lady!💯
Thank you for all of your teachings!
Where do you get your waxed cords?
Thank you so much for making this video very helpful love all your jewelry keep up the great work thank you😀
I am apart of an awesome group on facebook. Been with these 2 ladies for years. If you'd like me to leave the page just let me know. They're honest and amazing.
Sure, you can leave a link
Always seen your hands in videos before....you are a pretty lady. Thanks for the information. Also, curious why you moved to Australia....my daughter in law is from Australia.
Thank you. We moved here because we really loved Australia, beautiful country, nice lifestyle, we are right by the beach, so it really just had what we were looking for.
Bet that collection is rad!!
I think a really great place to get stones other then online...? is your local gem/mineral/jewlery show! Near where I live, within a 15 to 50 square mile radius or so, there is over a dozen such shows where unique and wholesale gems can be seen and bought same day! You just have to look up your states/local gem show schedule(s). In washington state we have them year round! ^_-
That is all......
...
? Hahaha? ^^;
jeez.
you are more beautiful than i imagined :D
thanks for those greaaaaattttt tutrorials, my lady !
_Should_ you price things based on the material cost and labour? Were I to sell, I imagine I'd look at similar pieces and price accordingly, going back to work if I'd be making a loss... I mean, it's worth what someone's willing to pay, right?
There is quite a variety of prices out there, I figure out what I think think is a fair price for me rather than base it on the prices of others. I have seen people selling similar pendants for more and also for less, so I figure I just gotta do what is right for me.
@@OxanaCrafts So what about brand recognition? You've built yourself eighty-one thousand cheeky boiz and girls subscribed to you on UA-cam so you're kinda famous in your niche right? Your products could be seen as worth more because of the name attached to them, and you're also able to leverage your audience as marketing (even if you don't try to), so you could potentially upmark based on those factors, right?
Theoretically yes, but my audience are mainly makers themselves rather than buyers of jewellery. And since I moved to Australia the shipping costs are quite high, to ship to US where most of my customers are, so I have to try and compensate for that by keeping my jewellery prices low. But I get what you are saying, there are some "famous" wrappers out there that can charge pretty much whatever they want because as soon as they post something for sale it sells out immediately. Not me though, I have over 300 items posted for sale as of right now :)
@@OxanaCrafts As a sidenote I love that you call you guys "wrappers".
I have this mental image of you making some stuff off-camera while beatboxing and speaking rhythmically about the quality of copper and describing it as "bling".
Really great information. Thanks!
You are so pretty! :)
Great video !
I hope this doesn't come off as creepy, but you've got a stunning eye color. Also, I love seeing the (lovely) face that goes with the hands. I've always thought of the name Oxana as being Eastern European (probably because of Oksana Baiul, the figure skater). Is that your heritage? My paternal ancestors are from Bohemia, so we could practically be cousins! I love the Xuron tools, which are especially wonderful AND made in the USA. This is a wonderful q&a. Thanks so much!
Thank you! :) Yes I was born in Russia
you gave a lot of great info l love listening to how you get your stones l thought you must have been getting them in Australia as you are not that far from where they mine the opals.
All of the places you mentioned you so stones, but they never see if they’re drilled. How can I make sure of the stones I buy are drilled?
It should say drilled and you should see the hole. I got a lot of my drilled stones on eBay. Often you can find them by searching for beads.
Omg I just followed u on Instagram! U are so pretty!
So i looked at some of your other videos and your jewelry looks good, I have a rock that I found that I had it made into a cabachon is there a way I could send that to you and have you wrap it for me ?
You should incorporate real sea shells into your jewelry designs
Seashells can be fragile and chip easily so real shell isn't that good for jewelry unless coated to minimize damage
Bonjour merci pour les partage. Domage qu'il n'y ai pas la possibilite de traduire en français ncais
Why can’t I ever see the links people talk about to click on?
Hi Oxana, what kind of jewelry chain do you use for your pendants? Thank you so much and love all of your videos ❤️
I usually use nylon cord necklace. I do rarely use "antique copper" colored chain, just like craft store chain, I have not been able to find affordable solid copper chain.
Ok thank u 😍
I get so many of my stones on instagram.
Your eyes are really pretty.
Thank you!
Very informative thank you 😊
Thank you.
I knew you was fine
Where could I buy stones. As I didn't have instagram.
Etsy and eBay have lots of gemstone cabochons
Hey! I love your video very much, and thank you for sharing your tips :). But I still got a little question to ask you pls, you talked about the products for cleaning the oxidized cooper, but is there any kind of product which we can use on the cooper jewelry, and prevent the oxidizing on the surface of the cooper?
yes, people often use waxes and laquers on it to slow down the oxidizing. I like mine natural as I have very sensitive skin so I have never tried any of the coatings
@@OxanaCrafts Thank you very much for the answers and tips :) I'm going to try :)
I wanted to know the best size cabochons to purchase. I seem to get to big or to small
I work with all sorts of shapes and sizes. I like big stones for tree of life pendants, I've made some that were several inches tall. I've also made some tiny pendants with stones that are like 10mm only. Just look on a ruler to decide the size that would work best for you and then search for a stone in that size.
Thanks for the reply,my question was more on the mm thats not to small or to big or a most common size thats easiest to wrap and wear. My problem has been getting them to big or too small for me to wrap. I'm pretty new. Your videos awsome, you explain well. The other ? Is how much wire pure stone
So Beautiful 😍
Who are some of your favorite Etsy shops?
i don't have any specific ones I regularly buy from, I just search what I am looking for and buy it from whatever shops come up, just gotta check that the reviews are ok, one time I forgot to check reviews and turns out it was a dishonest seller that never shipped my package
Just curios is liver of sulfur actually from a liver. I ask because I’m vegan and would not be able to use. Would you have another suggestion
I think it is just called that because it is the color of liver, I think it is just a chemical, but I am not entirely sure how it is manufactured.
أتمنى لك المزيد من التوفيق والنجاح
Oxana Have you ever tried to make a Dreamcatcher pendant before?
I think I did years ago when I first started learning, there are so many tutorials on that already so I never made one
I am part Native American and I tend to gravitate to the anything that looks Native American. I love the culture and look of their jewelry and clothing.
At first I thought I was part Cherokee but it’s actually Choctaw
Beautiful crystal eyes..:)
Where do i get stones ?
Etsy and Ebay will have tons, just search for cabochons
Your sweet face is perfectly matched to your sweet voice!
If you are shopping on ebay it's actually a free store! Just get the product, take it, send the seller an empty box and you'll get your money back! Someone bought a $20,000 pokemon card and returned an empty box to the seller on ebay and got all the money back! That's how AWFUL ebay is to it's sellers there is no protection. DON'T SUPPORT EBAY until they change things for sellers.
YOU HAVE A FACE!?
