- John Tavares notched his first career playoff hat trick, Morgan Rielly tied a franchise record for defenceman with four points in a game and the Toronto Maple Leafs earned a huge Game 2 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning, winning 7-2.

I like that playoff hockey is one of the few still-standing cultural moorings we have. They'll at least show us the rough stuff and the tone of the game this time o' year.

unbelievable--the Leafs played 6 playoff games at home and lost 5 of them LOL!!! And now Dubas is gone, Keefe is next and it's likely Matthews and Nylander won't sign extensions. It's back to the good old drawing board for the Leafs. 56 years since they last won the Stanley Cup and that sure won't be changing any time soon.

i cant remember an NHL playoff series starting off with SO much parity, one team gets a game1 7-3 blowout win only to follow it up with a 7-2 blowout loss in game 2 - as a NYR fan im loving our consistency so far, 2 road games, two 5-1 wins

The Rangers are the team to beat. Igor is in Vezina mode. Tarasenko and Kane are great acquisitions. Plus Mika and Panarin haven't even gotten started yet. When they start clicking, they'll be no stopping us. Sloppy first game but we tightened up in the second game. Defense has finally showed up. We won't be intimidated by anyone.

Anyone notice that when TBL is on the loosing end end of a game, they go full goon mode? TBL cannot afford any injuries, their depth is razor thin, this game was a good case in point, take one of the core guys out of lineup and you see the results.
You mean 2 core defenseman? Like are you that delusional and just think the Lightning would normally allow the leafs to just man-handle the puck for the entire game? It was so blatantly one-sided on a defensive aspect it's not even funny. Being down 2 of our best defenseman makes it nearly unwinnable. Turnover after turnover, the Lightning nearly got scored on with a Leaf's player 3v1....that's just pathetic. Literally would not happen with our starters and game 1 was obvious proof of that. The lightning are way too consistent of a team to just go from a 7-3 win to being smoked 7-2...you seriously can't think the leafs just "flipped a switch" when our defense is half the strength it was in game 1...
@@masift1494 I mean ur acting as if this didn’t happen last season when TBL would win 5-0 and then the leafs would win 5-2 the next game or whatever the scores were a year ago! It’s just how these two teams matchup their the most equal that’s why the games are so one way then the other. TBL has an aggressive style but sometimes going goon mode doesn’t always have the effect u want. If ur a rough team play with that intention but have depth so if players do unfortunately get injured ur not just sitting ducks! Boston did it for years.

I like seeing the civility in Tampa fans. But these two teams are so similar skill wise, that there is no doubt to me, this is going 7.

@@thereaversden6847 If hedman and cernak don't come back, i don't think it goes that far. Tampa has offensive depth but absolutely not in defense.
@@Alexis_R21 Cernak and Hedman would have potentially reduced the score a little bit, but even they wouldn't have made that big a difference in the end. It's only two players on a team, albeit big ones.
Big factor is Vasi. He looks mortal this year.

Came out brave knowing two of the bolts best Dmen were out. Even with the team half strength the bolts were getting on the forecheck. Better hope hedman and cernak dont return.
@@LizardSkin even if they do, the hits will keep coming, Toronto has a tough team this year. Bringing back players who aren’t 100% could be dangerous long term. If they do come back they will be getting hit constantly. It’s the playoffs.

Game 2 was a mirror of 1, where one team started on time and the other didn't. Each got a win, now they go back to Tampa for 2 games, where they have an excellent home record. All we learned is that the game film burns good.

Вот именно,что расслабились. Если в 1-ой игре Тампа играла в быстрый и комбинационный хоккей,то в этом вышла просто как на раскатку перед тренировкой, за что и получила. Понятно же было ,что Листья легко не отдадут 2-ю игру у себя дома,но видимо у Купера были другие планы.
