You wont believe what we found under the house under a rock metal detecting a colonial spill

- You have to see this because it does not happen very often. We were out metal detecting a colonial cellar hole up in the New England mountains at this old home site and it had not been metal detected before. There were signals everywhere with buttons and shoe buckles buried in the ground all over. The last signal of the day on my Fisher F19 metal detector happened to be right in the middle of the footprint of the house, meaning we were under the house at this point. We start digging and the signal is still under a huge rock so once we move it we start digging up all these buried buttons from the 1700s/ One right after another and they just didn't stop coming. This old house must have burned down hundreds of years ago for all this stuff to end up in the ground right under where the house was. An amazing metal detecting digging day that you have to see.

Great video! What-a-HUNT...!
nice find guys.
The jolly Geen Giant must have lived there. Hugh buttons an shoe buckles. The enormous amount of buttons. Large ax head.
Do you suppose they were burned out? The large chunk of melted lead Dame found at 1st.
What a wonderful reward for all the work you 2 put in it.
The way you work together is nice to see.
Charlie your buckle was the largest and nicest I've ever seen.
God Bless, be safe Nora C
Maybe Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox! That would account for all the oxen shoes!
l was thinking fire too. Maybe they were loyal to the crown and someone had a grudge against them and torched their place.
@@johnnyhighwoods1780 Lots of warring going on in that area. You could be right.
Unbelievable what trip back in time. Thank you
Congratulations, guys, and thanks for the videos.
This episode of Not Thursday was brought to you by the number 13. And that my friends is entertainment

What a great collection of finds. Amazing. "Ten inches, jeez," that's what she said.
You definitely have to go back. And soon. We wouldn't mind watching an hour of this. There is more spectacular things to be found there. Guaranteed. Take care.
Great episode. Thanks for sharing.
Y'all may have found a grave with all those buttons...You both showed respect...
Thanks...
RIP Herr Shirt
So Awesome! Shoe buckles are amazing, and buttons with leather going through are beautiful.
You guys found all of Mama Colonial’s button bag! Every mom, grandma, (seamstresses) etc… had a button bag, with every stray button, extras, etc… they ever found. Then, grandma would pass HER button bag collection down to her daughter, SHE added buttons, and on and on… great find!
Yep- I have the button bag that my mom had, not sure if it was passed down from grandma or not. I’ve added to it over the years. All those extra buttons given with clothes went in there. Now that button bag is a button tin. One of my most prized possessions.
Great hunt and finds. Ill be watchin👍
Great video!!
I do believe you found the laundry bin. Nice discovery.
Wow, I'm glad you didnt find bones with those buttons! NICE! To bad it wasnt a coin spill huh? Still great digs! Gapping diggin n swingin boys! Have a NT Friday and weekend coming ! HELLO JEN!😊👍😘
What an exciting day you had! Thank you for saving our history!
Holy Buttons LOL Great find
The buckles are big, the gentleman who lived there must have been a large man and the first buckle is a real beauty Charlie. The second was iron but after all the years in the ground is in remarkable condition Dame, great finds for each of you. I lost count of how many buttons you both found there, all different types all different materials yet all roughly from the same time period. The axe head is a large one and I suggest it belonged to the man who owned the large shoe buckles, I dont envy Dame carrying that out of there. It will be very interesting to see what else you find there, another virgin cellar hole and well done to the map maker, he was right again. I really enjoyed watching you both and Charlie thank goodness Dame was with you to help move that large rock!! Good luck and happy hunting and hiking my friends God bless you both and NinJen love and hugs to you all Mary-Ellen LFOD
Interesting finds, I expect you chaps would love to dig in my area in u.k.we are a few miles from the site of an old Hill Fort,
That's awesome finding's. Good luck finding more when you return.
I was waiting to see if you brought up a body. Great hunt. Can’t wait for the return. GL
Lead stick may be a pencil! Clay layer may be bottom layer under a wood floor. Niiice!
SD Crew Time!
I've always thought there had to be lot's of virgin sites lost to the ages and Boom! Can't wait for #2! Just awesome!!!
Awesome hole, 13 buttons in one spot. Yes will have to revisit this place.
WOW what a cellar hole. Those BIG shoe buckles are HUGE that person who worn them had some big feet. And 13 buttons in one spot what an awesome day in the woods it was. Love the videos!!😄
Me too
Maybe Paul Bunyan's shoe buckle.
You found Granny's button box!
Wow. I would almost carry your water if you took me there. That's the most beautiful button I've ever seen y'all find. What a fantastic place. Thanks for taking us along.
Wow, what great finds.
Very interesting video. Lots of unusual relics. Glad you found a good spot that hadn't been hunted. Enjoyed. God Bless Pap
What a fantastic site! And fabulous relics & spill!
I think “Big Foot” John lived there and made buttons! Wow!!
Those finds were insane, alm those under the rock, plus if samsquench had boots you found his buckles, awesome job guys
Enjoyable watch, a dig with nature beautiful.
What a great button spill Charlie. My best button spill was 9 and 8 of them were Eagle Infantry cuff buttons. Plus you each dug a shoe buckle. What a great day of Diggin guys. Happy hunting and be well
That spill was crazy! The buckles were too. Good thing you brought a friend!
Strip mining that should be interesting!!
You have to be kidding me! What great finds. I'm in awe. Those people who lived there must have been good size. The size of the ax head and the buckles were beautiful and big.I agree Charlie Dame is a good friend to lift that rock for you. ;) Great adventure guys. :)
That was insane the button honey hole..incredible condition
Awesome hunt guys! That intact shoe buckle is hunting. Keep on digging it. Happy hinting.

Welcome and Thank You!!!
Never seen a button-spill before!
Whoa, this show just keeps getting better & better.
Been many, many moons since those relics all hit the forest floor, hu?
Great job, guys...
Most button spills are called “Graves”!
Who would have thought we would be watching a program where two grown men get excited about finding old corroded buttons and shoe buckles :)
OMGoodness the 13 button find under that big rock 😲 awesome guys!! So many dandy buttons, amazing shoe buckles, that awesome axe head and the many other relics that you both unearthed 😃. I applaud you both in not just finding those relics but also in finding the cellar hole 👏👏☺️
Enjoyed it!
Uncle Moses was buried shallow with his long jacket on!
I was thinking the same thing! They dressed him to the 9's for his big send off!
My mother use to busy us (when we were children) with her buttons. We had to remove all left over thread and fabric, then sort them, and string those that matched (to save her time). This was a rainy day job when we could not play outside during the summer. We spent a lot of time playing with those buttons. With large coat buttons, we made button yo-yos. Mom always went to her button jars for buttons to go on new garments she made. Buttons on strings were toys to children back then.
Mom always took the buttons away from us when we lost interest in doing the task she had given us.
Just like Mom, I have saved many, many buttons through my years. I removed mine fom old garments being reused as rags. I usually clean off all thread and string the matching sets before putting them in my collection. I wonder what will become of all my buttons when I am gone?
WOW!...super-fantastic finds...love it...keep these fun videos commin'...
Great episode!!! Cannot wait for you to go back there. Love your channel. Keep the quality videos coming!!!
What a great day of digging . Great cellar hole. Thank God you under after that huge rock. A great video
That last piece of lead that you found was the end of like a fancy tie end.
Thanks, you kept me sane over the long lockdowns here in the UK, Scotland.
Good job
Wow guys!! What a site. Check that leather in those buttons. If it's fairly similar, and because those buttons came out of almost the same exact spot, it's likely that those were cherished buttons that were put on a leather string or strap to be used at a later date. I dug up a jar of old sewing things and in there, there were 8 different buttons all on a leather string. I'm sure that ranks right under finding a cache of coins. Great job!!
Looks like you found the button box!
I just love hearing Dame laugh! What wonderful finds and friendships!
23:03 That lead piece reminds me of this lace aglets... the modern equivalent would be the plastic that covers the ends of our shoe laces...🙂
Awesome finds
You are a true inspiration to this newbie!!
What a great site!! Those finds are awesome! Congratulations!!
Cheers, Paige C.
That first shoe buckle is crazy!! great finds and video!!
Thanks for keeping it real and setting the bar high for the rest of us at the same time! Jim Parry, Backroads Metal Detecting
I’ve really grown to like this channel because of how clear you are with what you’re doing and explain things without talking too much. Very good videos and great learning tool. Thanks.
always love watching these!!!
I always wondered where an entire article of clothing was lost or discarded wouldn't there be a pile of buttons? I can't wait until you return.
I was a little nervous. With that stone on top. I thought of a grave. Lol
@@dawncarpenter1358 so did I!!
I thought..i hope they dont find bones!
BTW, love the videos and the history that you show us. I just finished binge watching all of the NT videos. Took me about a month and a half lol. New Hampshire is just beautiful! Now onto binge watching SD! You have a faithful follower in me...
Great hunt guys great finds I really enjoyed it , can’t wait till y’all go back 👍🏻
Hello guys. Nice buckle. In France when you detect in a forest those buckles are common and are some sort of "anti-empty", same for buttons. But of course that is France. Not New Hampshire. Good Job ! Mission accomplished.
Great button spill! It appears to me that perhaps a woman who lived on that site had a button box/sowing box that was left behind. The buckles were nice too!
Way cool finding all those buttons!, Lucky.
Holy. You Guys killed it.
Great spot.
Can't wait to what's on
the next video
may have had some buttons in a pouch on the mantle piece or something like that. really cool.
Way to tag team that hole. You really worked it over.
Congratulations on the button soilbrotha holy cow in my 10 years detecting I have never seen that before that is just absolutely insane u killed it big time
You should collaborate with one of the restoration UA-cam channels to restore that ax head. That would be awesome!
why ruin it ? would you clean the DaVinci mona lisa with sandpaper and turpentine ?
@@carmineredd1198 No exactly the same thing.
That was awesome !! Excellent finds !!!
A Button Spill !! First Ever.
I hope that old folk art map maker has made a lot more maps made for you to follow! He seems he knew his places well. Can’t wait to watch when you go back!
Great dig. I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often. In exploring old barns and such when I was younger the there always seemed to be old jackets and coveralls hanging and rotting away.
What a great day. Awesome find for a Not Thursday 😊
Those buttons are nicer than the one's a friend and I found in NH recently, but we found 36 in one hole!!!
Seems with the people loosing so many buttons back then, I'm sure wives bought them by the dozens to keep replacements. My guess
Good job guys 🤙 Love hunting in the woods
Im definitely coming back 😀 A clean hole is a happy hole!!
I love this site 😎
Now that is a fantastic button haul. Congrats.
Dandy buttons were decorative buttons. I've always wanted to find one..
Nice finds guy's get some close up shots when you clean them
Going back, no doubt
Definitely an untouched site, incredible finds and many more to be found
Bravo gentlemen..
Bravo...

Sweet! Who doesn't love a button spill! Great job on the recovery! Those shoe buckles were a nice find as well! LFOD!!!🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
way to button that cellar hole up!
I’ve figured out, for myself, why what y’all do is so interesting-y’all are so clearly into all of this! Not many people get to love their work. Also, I love the fact that you guys have no jealousy, and are GENUINELY excited for each other when you discover relics! You go guys!
Yeah, great channel.
Easily one of the best...
