I love the results of using a big softbox (90 X 120cm is all I can fit ) but you are 100% right about difficulty in positioning them.

That thing is ginormous!! Makes my DIY circular 80cm cardboard/alu-foil/parchment thingy I made for my channel feel like it was made for the lilliputs …
Liked the idea of the windowed thingy though, with the black area in the middle, gonna have to try that trick and see what I can do with my «cheap as chips» homemade setup in a later video, cheers for that tip :)

Just bought a similar softbox 2 weeks ago that is just slightly bigger. It is a 140x200 cm softbox with inner and outer diffusion from Aurora Litebank (South Korea I believe). The build quality is really good and they have different speedring adapters. I just could not find a grid for that size softbox. Maybe I'll just combine 2 smaller grids should the need arise.
Fantastic though to get a clean white background even for half length shots or full length for kids. Silhouette shots or kids on tall horses work great as well to get a soft and even light on the entire subject.

like you said in the previous video. go as big as you can. i dont have a studio, just my living room and im running a 6' umbrella with a diffusion panel. not quite as nice as a purpose built softbox but its not terrible

It's very much appreciated when you show other brand names with their costs. I really think photographers that hawk Profoto as if you need Profoto to be a professional photographer are doing an injustice to most of their viewers. You show options and the cost of those options, thank you.

Got this immediately after I got my first set of (Siros) strobes. It's bulky but, as you said, very versatile. Just won't ever use it outside again, after it blew over the first time I tried, lol.

This is an amazing softbox. The first accessory I got was the strip mask. You need to be careful with it as a background in the vertical position and using wider angle lenses such as the 85mm or 100mm for portraiture. It can cause flair and halation, especially when using soft focus filters. Using 135mm-200mm lenses and positioning the softbox in the horizontal position solves this problem. Thanks Karl for your expertise.

Hi, can I ask what wattage led you're using with this?

Thanks!! I'm in the market for something like this. This one might be a little bigger than my needs it does give me some food for thought.

Super boring light and not really nice eye reflections.
