That commenter hasn’t looked at your bookshelves. Or your extensive video collection on this channel. You’ve certainly completed a lot more than most people have.
The fact that you’ve managed to continue to create (regular videos, anyone?) in the midst of a challenging and chaotic year in addition to having to deal with the loss of your home and community you were a part of as well as other hard things you’ve had thrown your way this past year is amazing and speaks to your fortitude and resilience.
Don’t listen to or give purchase to people who want to tear you down to make themselves feel better or more important. It speaks more of them and their projection issues and their resentment of your positivity and honesty about your struggles than it does of you.
You’re a constant inspiration to me and many others who enjoy the fruits of your labors-both in novels and in videos. There are a lot more of us here than there are of people like the commenter. We appreciate you. More than you know. ❤️

Girl wait a dang second... never finish things????? Huh? You've got 27 books out, 2 AMAZING courses, 2 rocking UA-cam channels and several other successful social media's....... not only do you finish things, you absolutely crush it and that's just your business life. You're also a mom of 2, a wife, a home owner, a great friend and an amazing woman. Please don't listen to the haters. You are rocking it and don't need their validation!

Oof, "never complete anything"?!?! I hate absolutes, so rarely true, and that's an awful example of one. You give us the truth; the realistic, honest peek at the life of an author. Keep up the amazing work! I'm here for your author tips, your planning suggestions, your "omg, is this really my life" vlogs of joy at your new home. You have the spark again, and I can't wait to see where it takes you!

That ‘you never finish anything’ comment is objectively false. You’ve FINISHED AND PUBLISHED 11 books for crying out load.

You'd think they'd pick someone who doesn't have 27 published books to comment about not finishing anything! Just wanted to add my thanks for being open and enthusiastic. You are always an encouragement to watch!

How is publishing 20 plus books, buying your own new home, makings videos, and teaching others how to write "never completing anything"??! That is ridiculous. You are amazing and magical. Thank you for sharing your process with us.

omg what a wild comment, I can't stand the trolls coming out of the woodwork on UA-cam videos lately!! So sorry and glad you know they're ridiculous, you've clearly finished a LOT more than most people could ever dream of, so that comment is just laughable. Love your videos

Argh, “never finish anything” that is why people never reach their goals. I think your approach of focusing on never giving up is exactly why you are so successful!! I mean you are killing it! Loving Mom, successful Author, wife, traveling the US, and need i say running multiple business….. Sara keep it UP!

I'm listening to Brianna Weist's book, 101 EssaysThat Will Change The Way You Think, and in it, she talks about the things we admire and dislike in others are the things we admire and dislike about ourselves. I hope the person with the critical comment is able to find inspiration in your videos and complete some things in their life. Your videos inspire me. I wrote 750 words to brainstorm a new story this week. That's the most words I've written in 3 months.

Sarra, your channel is just the best. What made me a fan is how real and honest you are about the ups and downs as a successful writer, and no matter what life hands you, you keep on moving forward. You don't need to explain yourself. Your writing community understands you 100%. And for my Camp Nanowrimo, I wrote less than 100 words. Sometimes, it just not the right time to do Nanowrimo.

Girl! Be very careful accepting criticism from someone you wouldn't go to for advice especially when you are surrounded by evidence that proves their criticism untrue (completed books, completed courses, completed videos, etc.) It's easy for us to believe the negative because that feels actionable. Things you've already completed no longer require your energy and we're far too quick to forget all of the energy we already gave them. Enjoy the fruits of your labor! Be proud of yourself because you're awesome!!

Yes, THIS! Even for the most prolific writers, life throws us curveballs, detours, and countless lessons learned the hard way (and often the most profound ways) along the entire journey. We can plot and plan but the writing journey has its own secret timeline to be revealed in countless cliffhangers that sometimes pull us down, sometimes pull us forward. As for the naysayers who roll their eyes at the writing life challenges and poke us when we’re down, those folks clearly aren’t part of the club. 🥰 Because a fellow writer would never say to you that you never finish anything. A fellow writer would celebrate your truly amazing tenacity and achievements, and then reach out a hand when the going gets tough. Thank you for all the times you reach out a hand to the rest is us, Sarra. We are grateful for your support and so proud to be on the same crazy unpredictable creative journey alongside you! ❤️❤️❤️

I will fight the person who said you never finish anything. Lemme at 'em. Thank you for being honest about your journey. It's been a big help to me to see that it's not about perfection, but about consistent effort and finding ways to love the process.

Please don’t take this the wrong way but personally I love that you don’t always hit your goals on time. Sometimes I think wow she does SO much and I’m over here struggling with a fraction of that. It’s nice seeing you also have your ups and downs and still accomplish so much. Makes it feel for obtainable ❤️ You are amazing thank you for all the motivation and tips!

After working with development projects in working life, I know that what is most often missing in (lectures / trainings) are the issues you address (regardless of the topic of the project). What stands out is how to succeed..the finished nice result. There is no clear help or guidance in creative anxiety and torment (writing cramps, etc.). Your candor, your COURAGE to tell about your anxiety and frustration heals so many and is SO Valuable! It's like you say Sarra! Never give up! Find new paths in creativity, with the help of things, impulses. To find what makes you happy! Thanks Sarra! YOU ROCK💎🌌🌙🕯📖✏🔮🌠🖥📹🗝📱🎶📯💅🙌👌🖖🙏💜🧠💎

The person who left that comment was being mean. You don't tell a person who has accomplished what you have that they never complete anything. WTF. Those are the toxic folks who we leave behind gladly.
On a more positive note, thank you immensely for being transparent about your writing challenges. This gives me hope and helps me feel that I'm not actually a failure before I even begin.

Loved this, Sarra! So fun that you found a little coffee shop in your new town and huzzah for back to writing as best as you can! "Never finishing anything" is a heck of a way to publish 20+ books, run a business, two channels and move into your dream home. 😄 So cheers to that! These past couple of years have been heavy for us all, and hustle culture continues to stress and break so many! I'm glad you continue to give yourself grace and show up encouraging us to do the same! Sending love, my friend! 🖤

Tha k you so much for this! I had that toxic mindset that so many seem to get from Nano (i.e.- obsessively manic over word counts), and I saw a video that changed my mindset to just attempting to get anything done with my writing (like worldbuilding, editing, characterization...). It has made all the difference to my mental health.
Best of luck as you continue your journey!

Oooh ALL of this! We lost our Pap recently. He lived with us for the past ten years. He was my husband’s grandfather and the gaping wound of his loss is raw. That being said, no way was I leaving his room desolate. So Im making his room my office. So far we’ve painted and we’re taking the exterior wall down to the brick and Im making the balcony a Zen Zone for relaxation and meditation. At the same time, Im enrolled in Becca Syme’s Write Better Faster course and all of this stuff together has lit a creative spark that’s now a burning desire again. The ideas that are coming so hard and fast, I have to write them down. And Im wrapping up a seven book series but Im also writing the next book in a new series and I. Am. So. Excited!! Thank you Sarra! Thank you for sharing your new office space, it’s inspiring! Thank you for your transparency that even professional and prolific writers get stuck sometimes, too. I am currently making the mental shift from this is a hobby to this is a business and I feel ‘unveiled’. So much easier to get to where you’re going when you KNOW where you’re going! Ugh! Sorry for the jumbled rant, I hope you at least get the gist of what Im saying. Just a huge THANK YOU!

Thank you a million times, this was exactly what I needed to hear. I started my writing journey and challenged myself to write my book in 21 days, which turned into a summer project then it became 6 months and I was passed the deadline I had given to myself, to my audience and to the hybrid publishing house helping me self-publish. After a while, they dropped me because my project was too ambitious and I was unable to published within the 1-6 months timeframe. I let that get into me but the book is completely done, I get stuck into minor details that would make the content perfect and keep on postponing the actual publication of what I created over 9 months of hard labour and sweat. Funny enough today on my way to work, I felt an impulse to post on my Instagram writer account about not giving up and for me to stop playing hide and seek, that today I was going to commit to publishing this book no matter what and go back to the online community on Instagram that has been supporting me for a while that I had ghosted because I was getting too anxious by the idea of completing a perfect book. I ended up no posting this message on IG but really felt it deep in my soul and I found your video exactly on this subject! I'm not sure if it is AI and google analytics working its magic or the universe speaking through you. Either way: MERCI and be blessed! Just in case you want to come say hi and follow through my progress My IG: @mademoiselledarkmatter

My dad ended up in/out of hospitals, major issues inc sepsis, (twice), so the writing went out the window while I was running back and forth. I have not given up on it, but I am going to pull out my unopened box of erin condren and set up some rewards.( And hope and pray my Dad continues to get better! ) Thank you for the tips, and your willingness to bare your soul~

I'm so sorry that you had someone be so cutting. You know how much you have achieved, and only someone who has been in this game a long time knows that there ARE seasons in our creative lives. Learning to accept and value each season is an important part of growing up. I couldn't write for 2 years after a critical illness that I had a 0.00004% chance of surviving. I beat myself up for being a failure. But after I had healed, mourned and rested, I started writing again and I'm back to producing a novella a month. Life isn't about "finishing things." It's about being a healthy, happy, whole person in all aspects of our lives.

I don't have all the fancies but I Have printed out all your course work and have adapted them more into what works for me. I will be attending a business workshop on the 16 and 17 of this month...Monday and Tuesday. I've a better understanding of my vision, my goals and the tasks I need to do yet. Along the way, I've checked out your writing tips and these also helped me focus myself better. I actually found a couple things I wasn't aware of and have incorporated. I'm trying to be creative and it's hard.
I set easy goals this month and I'm not failing exactly, but I'm not making the progress I want to make.
Before April I was doing well with only writing 4 days a week and doing other creative things on the other 3, but all my craft stuff is in storage. I think I might grab my crochet so I can do a non writing related creative thing.

"Never complete anything" SOML since 2017, I've put more energy into helping others and keeping up with my ageing parent and family issues. I dislike this comment because you get so much done and don't realise it. I felt so deflated once I heard this comment come from you as I had a family member talk to me like this; I needed much time to bounce back. You've encouraged me to approach things differently, think about my own writing, etc. Distracted people Distract people, You're doing great HB.

Thanks for the pep talk! I didn't think about rewarding myself for working, but I am now. :)

Thank you for sharing. I am revising my first novel, and had a lot of life get in the way and had to take a few weeks off and I was pretty down on myself for having to do that. This video was just what I needed as a reminder that I'm alone and that I got this. :-)

I’m wondering if there’s something going on collectively for us writers. It feels like so many of us are going through the same thing. I for one have been unable to write. I wanted to publish a Christmas novel this year-I don’t see it happening anymore. Thanks for sharing 🙌🏻

I think maybe it's just the collective stress of the past few years is harder on the creative part of our brains? I hope it's on the way to getting better!

I also planned to write 20K for Camp Nano and wrote basically nothing. I'm not being hard on myself though. I had a lot of unexpected upheaval in April including my grandmother getting sick and unfortunately she did pass early in April. That probably not too surprisingly killed my creativity a bit. I've had a burst of energy for the first time in a while the last couple of days. Spent time cleaning the kitchen yesterday and hoping to be able to write again soon - I've been working on plotting and trying to find the right place between never starting because I'm stuck on plotting and re-plotting and getting going sooner but it being a mess (I know it will be no matter what because it's a SFD after all, but even more of a mess) full of holes and dead-ends I can't get out of!

The more I stress about not writing, not keeping to my rigid schedule, or not hitting my word goal for the day, the more I seem to lose my love of writing. When I let go of that stress, my creativity comes back. Now when I’m facing a blank screen, instead of trying to force it I’ll take a walk or clean a room. Something. I find when I’m not thinking of writing, inevitably my muse, almost sensing that she’s losing me, will whisper, “I’m back!”

YOU never finish anything?! GMAFB. You’ve written what! 26 or 27 books. You finish things. Also, the last two years have been challenging, to say the least. You’re amazing and don’t let anyone ever steal your light with their thoughtless comments.

Whether on accident or intentional, I have a no pressure project which i can spend making pinterest boards, playlists, write things as they come, aka the fun stuff ;D and a project that I have self imposed deadlines/progress/tasks to complete. So if I need a brain break i have the no pressure project, and when i'm feeling a little more cosy and practice'd then I work on the main project. I almost never have more than two so I don't get super side tracked down the rabbit hole of never ending projects, or have a brain dump day where I ride the train of whatever has been taking up space until it reaches a dead end and then get back to the other two haha

Thanks for the video! It is motivating . Regarding your reward system, I'm not sure I understand. You buy them ahead of time then start using them once you've hit your goal? I wait until I reach my goal before buying. I think that if I purchase it before reaching goal it would not motivate me as much. Happy writing!

    • @HeartBreathings
      @HeartBreathings  2 роки тому +2

Yes, I buy it ahead of time but I can't use it until after. Most of these are "Blind boxes" so I don't know what's in them! It makes it fun for me to see what's inside when I can finally unbox it!

I've seen your outlining methods videos before, but I was wondering, what do you with the physical outlining planners once the book is finished? Do you keep them, or throw them away/recycle them? Do you ever go back to the finished novel outlines for any kind of motivation?

    • @HeartBreathings
      @HeartBreathings  2 роки тому +1

I keep them! I just put them in my closet and I do go back to previous books in the series for ideas I didn't use, etc
