"Those who say it cannot be done should shut up and stay out of the way of those who are doing it." I heard that quote years ago and it's proven true. Your brake functions well! Thank you for all you do for all of us! Best, @BrnahAndFoundry
I've had two of these brakes over the years ... Excellent tool ... I also modified both of the ones I've had ... Most notable mod was to remove the cams and handles and swap them end for end so that when you clamp the workpeice , you're pulling the handle toward you the way my heavier finger brake works ... That and changing out the apron handles ... And yes , after making the mods , paint is a necessity ... When I was running my commercial welding and fab shop , I always made sure my guys knew that APPEARANCE COUNTS ...
I’ve found that those that criticize the loudest are normally those that have done the least. Don’t sweat those folks - keep building cool ass stuff & let them continue to be miserable. 👍
I love the fact that you beefed it up, made removable additions, added wheels, added stronger handles, used it to bend a plate to cover the leg supports & customized the hell out of it, and painted it a color that makes you happy.

Yes, I agree on having that nice shop too. I don't have the space for it living in California with it's real estate prices but I haven't moved and am not whining about it. I just have my 69 F100 in a messy two car garage that has too much junk in it. LOL
I remember that video. I've had the same brake you started with for several years. Is it the best? No. But FOR THE MONEY it's a good piece at a good value, especially after a few upgrades. Very good choice for the home or small shop guy on a budget.
Puddin you did a very nice job modifieding that brake. Your very right about if the tool works for you that's all you need. Can't wait to see more videos soon. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friend. Fab On. Weld On. Keep making. God bless.
I have done about the same upgrades you have and it works great. I do not have wheels on mine because I never have to move it. With that being said i think it is a good idea and will ad some.
I saw the original video after I found your site. What impressed me was how you took a Harbor Freight break and modified it... the detail was great... hope you weren't hit with all that ice!
Along with the metal brake, your shop has definitely filled up a bit with tools sense the first episode! Great job with all your beefed up Harbor purchases. If it works for what you want it for that's all that matters!

You made reference to how similar it is to others units. The suppliers in China often make them for more than one company and just different brand labels on them.
For reference, a boss bought one of these because it said "Up to 16ga" without reading that 16ga max length is like 12 inches. Well first day we put in a 30 inch piece of 16ga and with a coworker standing on each leg I proceeded to put a permanent bow in both leafs. Based on that, in my opinion the leafs are the limiting factor for capacity. But I keep considering one of these for my home shop as I wouldn't be pushing it that hard and it would make my life easier. The mods you've done make it even easier to use. Nice work
I’m sure they could be improved maybe lay some strap on them and weld em up. For me I knew I would be doing much more the 18ga so I haven’t had that problem!
@@PuddinsFabShop I figured I'd throw that experience in for those asking about capacity. If it wasn't for the permanent bow we would've reinforced the leafs with some 1/2x1 inch flat bar on the backsides. For my home shop I'm same as you, 18ga so wouldn't be worried about it. Boss went with one of those Baleigh Electromagnetic 48 inch brakes after that. Neat little machine that performed well until the electronics decided to not work 6 months in. IDK about warrantee boss been dealing with that, all I know is I love the 72 inch Chicago (by way of Taiwan) box and pan we have at the shop now. Been bringing stuff from home delaying any purchase for my home shop but will probably get one of these eventually.
Watching that break bend 18g.metal as clean and even on that length of ruffly 30 in. Made a believer out of me. Beautiful seams👍🏻👍🏻.i used 18 on some floor pans on my plow truck.(96-s10 ). I also did front cab /frame mounts. That 18 gd. Isnt easy to bend. Thank you again for sharing. I still have rocker work to do on it.you are awsome!! I know after market pieces are thinner .That break. Project you did gave me ideas for making my own thicker pannels👍🏻👍🏻.

I saw your IH the other day on UA-cam. You do some great work. Me and a friend are building similar trucks. One of the ones we built was a 60 IH short box but with a fleet side. Really neat lowered to the ground.
Great video. Value for money is always the way to gauge how good things are. Spend $1000s and use it twice a year. Spend $100 and some time to tickle it up, you are streets ahead.

I was a sheet metal mechanic for about 20 years if i was building cars that little brake would have been my go to all the time So if you cant tell them to piss off i will. LOL
I could really use one of those. I have the Swag off-road finger brake but iam limited on width and you have to really keep the sections lined up for a clean bend.
I think it looks great and it works great for what u need it for you don't need a 10k dollar brake to get the job done people just like to buy the name brand stuff just to show they have one who cares if it works buy it even if it's a harborfreight one and if it ever breaks you can fix it cheap or just buy another one cause the price is cheap and your not out thousands of dollars.

The only thing I don't see on any break, is a gauge that shows the bends in a degree setting. It would be nice to know what you are bending. Whether it be 10 degree or true 90 degree. Ronnie.
