A fun series is a great idea. A lot of us runners can be consumed by times all the time. I was inspired by this and drove to mountains today for some trail running and then to a reservoir for another run. Real scenic and really enjoyable....... and I didn't look at my watch once. Going to do this approach til Christmas before back to business! Great job!
My local Parkrun! Try the Lanhydrock one if you're in the area again... just a few miles up the road. Even more beautiful, but much tougher! Eden takes me around 25 mins these days, whereas Lanhydrock takes me more like 28 mins.
Always got to remember.. for the vast vast majority of us it's just a hobby and should be fun!! Good to take it serious sometimes, but also relax and just enjoy it at others. Glad you liked the video!
Wonderful video. So full of positivity and fun despite the deluge you guys ran through. You two are such an inspiration. Please keep us updated on the plantlife back at the apartment.
Your a genuine nice guy and you inspired me to get back into running after a 5 year break, while training for my 1st marathon race I only decided to run the marathon I booked in the beginning of the year 8 weeks before 😬 but I managed to run a 5hour Snowdonia marathon! Really enjoyed your videos during my training and preparations 🙏❤️🏃🏃
N.P williams 5 hours at snowdonia is really impressive! That’s a tough race.. and off 8 weeks training. There’s some talent there for sure, well done to you and all the best for your running 🙌
@@BenParkes Yes I was very happy with the time thank you. I found that by only having a short time to get my legs ready I looked at alternative options, I found hypnosis possitive running sessions on you tube every night 10 days before the race and cold tubs for recovery really helpful, 🙌🏃 keep getting it done Ben
Loving the video as always, Ben. Gotta say the wind is bad but it's the heat/humidity combo that does it for me - just feels like you're running out of oxygen the further you run! Light rain is nice enough and dipped under 20 for the first time at Parkrun when it was snowing :). Probably one of the few people who actually likes running in Winter...
Look’s like a challenging Parkrun Ben! Very scenic. Another great scenic Parkrun to consider is South Sheilds up in the North East of England, would be great to see you there.
Don't perform well in anything above 20 deg C. Hate really windy conditions. Especially if I'm not on a loop so never get the benefit of tailwind. My 5 mile commute is west > East and then back again later. It's amazing how many times the wind changes direction and I get the worst of it both ways. I just tell myself its strength training! Don't mind the rain. You can only get wet once. The cold is fine by me. I'm one of those nutters in shorts and t shirt in mid winter.
Very well done boy. I think a Insta 360 or GoPro would be perfect for you to run with, more smooth material. Another question, have you ever worked with a "stryd footpod"? I think about to order and to increase my pace with. THANKS
I have a insta 360.. just haven’t used it yet. The standard GoPro works well for the time being.. but know a 360 camera would be epic. Going to be using it when we’re next in the mountains. I haven’t used stryd.. as just prefer using heart rate to train by. Not discounting it at all.. just haven’t had time to fully look into it. All the best!
Hey Ben, I just wondered if your "easy & tempo & hill rep & race" t-shirts are going to be available on benparkes.com at any time please. Thanks and thanks for all the videos you put up on here too.
nice place! 😍 the worst weather i was outside sporting was heavy rain, went into snow, under 0 degree in to the mountain with mountainbike on my shoulder and with all wet and icecold feet! it was terrible, last 4 hours. 😶
@@BenParkes Come back in the summer for some great coast path running, Ben - check out the mudcrew RAT race, 16 to 100km routes along the south cornish coast path, spectacular scenery!
I love running in the rain. I really struggle running in any temperature above 25 deg C. Breathing in warm, moist air is so uncomfortable - I remember you saying you found it ok, so any tips for overcoming this?
From all the studying I’ve done I think some people are genetically better than others.. due to how you sweat. I’m ok up to about 40 degrees C.. of course I can’t run the same speeds then, not even close.. but can still run ok. If you struggle it’s usually best to simply avoid it the best you can, running early or late etc. Sorry I can’t really help more.. will do some more research soon!
I was aiming for a sub 20 Parkrun at the end of the year... later downscaled it to sub 21... now because of injury I'd be happy to get sub 22... losing motivation because of nagging injuries :(
Th worst weather I have ever ran in would probably be during highschool track 800m repeats in driving rain at about 2° C. The black track material splashing up as mud made it even more dramatic.
Ever considered doing some plant based meal prep and cooking videos with Sarah perhaps? I've just started and am finding it hard to not just eat the same thing day after day. Especially hard at work as I drive all day and can't heat food. Just an idea.
Yes I was the guy he passed into 3rd, horrid morning for it but good to see you down there Ben. Class running even taking it fairly steady :) Your sub 17 5k video helped motivate me to achieve it recently too. Top man..
I’ve run Eden Project Parkrun twice now and even got a PB which still stands today. Think it was the long downhill sections that did it for me. You should try Lanhydrock! OMG 😮
It’s usually best to try and get faster as the race goes on.. always easier to say that, than actually do it! So many people go off way to fast in all races.. so sticking to your goal pace at the start will pay off come the end.. if you’ve got enough energy to speed up then that’s a bonus!
Thanks Ben for the tips, by the way have been loving your videos. The Q and A is really helpful. Thanks for being interactive with this audience. One of the best channels out there!
Erwan Kinsella I broke 20 at 14 and it is so much easier if you run with someone who’s going for a similar time to motivate each other especially if it’s a hilly course
Hi Ben! Since this is the fun series, would you consider doing any ultra marathons? Would be nice to meet you on the start line 😂 Come to China and conquer the great wall 💪
Hey! I'm going to South Africa for UTCT (100km) race in a few weeks, so that will be a pretty fun mountain ultra! Have never been to China, so would like to go and explore one day soon!
Really hard to. Never found a solution that 100% works.. some people say to breathe out when your foot (on the opposite side to the stitch) hits the floor, every other stride.. but doesn’t always work. Maybe someone else knows a better solution than me!
Love it when you’re just having a good time when running!

Wow... super cool to see they've setup a Park Run there... It's probably been nearly 25 years since I was last there. Such a cool place.
Enjoying the new series very much, thank you Ben!
Thanks for following along Emily!
Eden Project is on our parkrun tour list for next July, thanks for the profile of the whole day!
You’ll have much better weather in July hopefully!! Enjoy Luke
Looks amazing, would love to visit. Hopefully in a day when the weather’s a bit better 👍
Heat!! I can run happily in the winter even snow, but I hate running in the heat, I don’t know why but feeling hot makes my mood change!
Glad to see you enjoyed it down my neck of the woods. Hills ahoy! I’d swap the flats of London for Cornish hills if you fancy it Ben?
Always room in my life for a Crystal Maze reference, looks like you both had a boss day out 😃

Will try and call in next time I'm up that way! All the best Jack
'you wouldn't want to be a plant coming into our home' :D
Nice video. For me, definitely intense heat with high humidity. I don't mind snow or rain.
Nice!! My local Parkrun at Heartlands down the road was cancelled that day, glad you got it done guys 👍
Oh no.. hope it's back on this week!
Big up the Camborne creeeeeew one two one two! 😁
Looks very nice. And for the PB 5KM, my time is 19:49. but no domes at the end of the race. :(
hi ben , great video
shows what running is really about.
I've been there. It truly is beautiful.
your uploads are always quality!
Wind! I did the big half in March and the weather was horrendous! Doing it again next year hope its better 😫
Oh I remember that day well... not fun AT ALL!! See you for Big Half 2020!!
Food looks amazing!💚
Enjoying your vids and gotta PB and 1st sub 19 at eden that weekend.. Will be ordering the new green cap soon.
Awesome Jason!! Great job, that course was hard as park runs go!!

Sounds horrible!!! 🧊 ❄️ 🥶 nothing worse than being cold.. give me heat 🔥 any day!!
Came first place at the Eden parkrun this morning! Hope you enjoyed Cornwall in all it's rainy glory!
Well done Jamie!!

Hands down the wind it just kills my rhythm😡
Wind is the worst!! Then cold.. am fine with everything else really!
Worst running weather is definitely wind for me, nothing you can do!

Very cool t-shirt Ben, where is it from??
It’s coming to the website soon!! Hopefully Monday will be available to order. Thanks Tim 🙌
@@BenParkes great, will look out and order! Keep up the great content btw.
Thanks Tim!! 😀
Hi Ben just wondering where you get your cool running shirts?
Most of the things I wear are available on my website. www.benparkes.com or if you want to know about something else I'm wearing then of course ask!
Cold rain can be the worst to train in.
Worst weather to run in is heat for me! Rain over heat any day haha!
I’d be the complete opposite Chloe! Love the heat and hate rain! Haha
Does anyone know what the song starting at 9:14 is?

Gotta love the first 100m of a parkrun
Loving the vegan stuff ben! Tempted to do eden project parkrun one day. Great idea.
17.23 and talking about scenery... 🙈
“To the dome!” Shout out to crystal maze
heat
This must’ve been around the time I did the Eden project parkrun

Why not? Because there's no such thing as Park Runs in Alaska sadly. 😔😔 but I would love to.
It's certainly growing in the USA and Canada.. but not in Alaska yet.. hopefully soon!! As it's really good!
So, you just ran my PB time while commenting on a selfie video 🤯👏👏👏👏👏👍
that's my local park run... I hate those hills with a passion!
I’ve run Eden Project Parkrun twice now and even got a PB which still stands today. Think it was the long downhill sections that did it for me. You should try Lanhydrock! OMG 😮
I'll look it up! The first KM at Eden Project could be really fast, as it's all downhill. Well done on your PB!
I dont like running in the rain and hail the most because my parkrun is on grass and gets cancelled if its really bad 😥🏃🏻♂️
It wasnt cancelled last Saturday luckily because it started raining whilst running
Hey Ben! Im a 15 year old trying to break 20mins for a 5km should negative or positive split my 1ks?
It’s usually best to try and get faster as the race goes on.. always easier to say that, than actually do it! So many people go off way to fast in all races.. so sticking to your goal pace at the start will pay off come the end.. if you’ve got enough energy to speed up then that’s a bonus!

Ben, would you ever sell personalised Garmin straps? :)
I didn’t know that was a thing! Will have to ask Garmin if it is.. wouldn’t want to annoy them!
I would get one if you make them !!!:)
that lunch price is a bargain!
And was delicious too!! 😋

How bout having a marathon in South East asean country to enjoy the weather there? 😂
Your vegan aswell? Awesome
Why did you wear trail shoes on this park run? It's all tarmac
The guy who won must have been very fast
Ollie Campbell 17:18 is insane, props to you
i never understand people who can’t clearly run sub 25 sprint at the start
Everyone is at different points on their running journey I guess.. learning what works. but yeah, I was about 25th after the first 500m!
Ben Parkes i have one more thing how do you deal with side stitches?
Really hard to. Never found a solution that 100% works.. some people say to breathe out when your foot (on the opposite side to the stitch) hits the floor, every other stride.. but doesn’t always work. Maybe someone else knows a better solution than me!
Ben Parkes ok thank you i’ll try that 😄
