I personally love the Dreamcore aesthetic. I think it’s because I’m a very nostalgic person and love dreaming (idk it’s hard to explain, some of my dreams just have a certain vibe to them, ranging from realistic and cool to something more liminal space-esque) that this aesthetic, along with weirdcore, stick out to me. I can definitely agree that it’s an acquired taste, since a lot of people out there think it’s cringe. BTW I love your channel so much, you’re the first person I’ve seen who makes this kind of content :D and it’s so cool that you’re making music!
Me too! My home life isn’t the best, and I have trouble falling asleep and wake up extremely early the next morning; I have not control over it.
For a long time, the only reason I went to bed was because I was looking forward to my oddly nostalgic dreams.
Dreams are very underappreciated in society
it gives me such an aesthetic nostalgic feeling and i love it, its like i went back to my child hood and i would do anything to have that childhood feeling again.
for me, i prefer normal liminal space and the backrooms, even tho the backrooms could be class as not as scary anymore as many entities and levels. but still, just going to a place where there is no one but you via noclipping or something else, and ending up in these areas wanna make me explore em. no matter how scary, errie, or creepy they could become.
The best descriptor I’ve heard for the modern form of liminal spaces is “places where the expectations of reality aren’t met”. Such as an empty school at night, schools are meant to be full of students in the day, and nobody is meant to be there at night. So when you are there, it creates an uncanny feeling where the familiar becomes unfamiliar.
You know what is so crazy about this is that as a kid I always had a weird feeling of walking into a McDonalds late at night during a road trip - similar to what you described regarding the school. There is not a single soul inside but yet there are a couple workers just chilling there. Like this wouod be at a McDonald's that once the clock hit 9AM it would be popping. But at 4AM it isn't the same....
That's a good way to put it. Where the familiar becomes unfamiliar....
There's actually another common dream obscure sorrow: euneirophrenia, the feeling of waking up from a good dream.
It's very euphoric honestly, one of the most euphoric experiences I've ever had (and I've tripped before)

Saw you skipped over Omori so decided for this to be an excuse to talk about my hyperfixation;
Omori is a game where you play as a monochromatic boy who lives in a white void. You explore his dreamlike world, hang out with friends, and try to overcome fears. Reminds me of summertime when you just got to hang out with friends and not have worries. Plus the character in the background of the layer the entry is on IS the namesake character which is cool. I suggest checking it out, it’s pretty cool and talks about stuff such as mental health.
To anyone wanting to play It I’d recommend checking out the TWs because it’s a pretty heavy game especially on the darker routes :)

20:14 i think a reason why dreamcore people have an addiction to mushrooms is cuz some types of mushrooms/shrooms (ex.psilocybin mushrooms) put you in a dream state or make you have hullucinations
some people also think of the mushroom forest from alice in wonderland as almost dream-like (some people even seeing it in their own dreams) and get inspiration from that
or people just are obsessed with eating fungi idk 🤷🏻♂

I adore the aesthetics, weirdcore cause it’s just anemoia overload for me and dreamcore I love cause I’m a person that has very vivid dreams almost daily. So looking at these images just drags me into that floaty feeling of my dreams where it’s empty a lot of the times but calming.

Fun Fact: Minecraft is one of the most dreamed about games.
Those who are familiar with the tetris effect are probably familiar with what I'm talking about.
Basically if you play a game consistently for long enough as you're falling asleep you'll notice in the hypnagogic state that you're seeing imagery related to the game. It then seeps into your dreams and has a massive effect on it's contents
I think the mushroom usage is from walking through a forest and seeing them
I love this aesthetic along with Weirdcore, how I found them was in of all places Roblox, during the pandemic I found a game styled around it since I was getting into Liminal Spaces at the time, one thing led to another and here I am surrounding myself still with Dreamcore and Weirdcore, meeting wonderful people, making new friends, I even have a plan to make Blank a reality someday, overall I love this community, I love this Aesthetic, I love my nostalgia

I love yume nikki with all my heart. The game is so dear to me whenever, i think of dreamcore i think of yume nikki. I like to think yume nikki pioneers dreamcore as an aesthetic. I cried while playing the game its such a comfort game to me i cant express how much i love it.

I’m so glad LSD Dream emulator was included, it perfectly sums up the Dreamcore aesthetic into a game :D
A few things about yume nikki, many effects do have a greater purpose, such as the knife being able to slice open a wall with eyes and a zipper for a mouth, granting you entry, or a lantern being able to illuminate a dark maze, and if you collect all the effects, you get an ending where madotsuki will kill herself, which is the official ending of the game, so there is an objective, it just isnt clear.

For me, I love how weird core, dream core, and liminal spaces are what made the backrooms. The backrooms are a perfect mix.
Liminal childhood memories:
The empty spaces behind the netting at the Mcdonalds play place, where you can never go, but my brother sneaked back there once.

Here’s why I love dreamcore. I used to live in my grandparents house and every time I’d run trough the hallway I’d see a shadow figure in the bathroom? If I’d go back nothing there until like one hour later. You don’t have to believe me tho it’s still weird and it gives me a nostalgic feeling.

I like the idea of Dreamcore, it feels comforting for me. My life is very difficult right now, but the comforting images and places Dreamcore has makes me feel at peace. Like all the problems in my life are washing away. I like it, just like Weirdcore. oddly calming in a time that is... not as great for me or my mental health.

To my knowledge dreamcore is more about recreating that feeling of being in a dream while weirdcore is more about giving a weird or strange feeling, maybe even nostalgic. I think there's some overlap between the two, I personally like to stick to images that remind me of my own dreams tbh

@@WEIRDpoi the term for these types of angels are Biblically Acuate Angels. the weirdest of which is the Ophanim what with the fact that looks like a wheel with eyes. which is seen in Weirdcore images or at least some of them.
