    If you are a couple looking for a capable shaft drive diesel cruiser to spend the summer aboard then look seriously at this Nimbus 305. This is an all weather style of boat that will do a good distance at 14kts speed and keep you comfortable in most conditions. I could imagine myself spending the Swedish Midsommar exploring the islands around Stockholm on this boat and then cruising it all the way to France via the English Channel or the French Canal route to spend the next season in the Med. I could also see this as an amazing boat to cruise the Pacific North West up to Alaska, imagine that! You really could happily live aboard a boat like this as a couple especially, and for less time if you are dragging around a few kids.

    Join me for this test drive around Queenstown in New Zealand which was filmed in the middle of winter back in June. On this day we were getting considerable wind gusts and changes of direction which made it challenging for me to fly the drone but with the diesel heater and windscreen wipers going we were comfortable as onboard the Nimbus.
    Enjoy,
    Dan Jones

    Thx for the detailed walk-through. When I am done with sailing, this will be #1 on my short list for Southern California.

      Oh You're welcome! This would be a GREAT boat to step into from sailing. Makes a LOT of sense for sailors so you're on the right track

    Cracker walk-through! That one-piece windscreen and helm door are absolute winners in my book!

    Well Dan, looks like you've got a weird admirer..... haha, anyway back to the boat.
    And what a great little boat this is. I don't know about the whole cold weather thing, but this could be just ideal
    (with the D4 270) for us old farts who can't be bothered (anymore) faffing around with covers and bimini......seems to me it opens up and shuts down with ease. Could work just fine in warmer climes?
    Handsome classic lines..... there's a lot to like here.
    Cheers
    S

      Haha all good - as long as i'm getting more eyes on cool boats I don't mind. Those covers were light weight so quite easy to operate actually. But you could also just forget about them and move inside when required. Absolutely fine in hot weather as the openning roof, door etc maintains airflow and shade. Also you could air con it too.

    Darn on the V-drive and the Volvo. Wish it was straight shaft and Cummins. Always a trade off.

    Really enjoy your video's. Seems you goes in other countries just do a better job of putting together test video's than we do here ion the USA. Love to see a test of the 31 Sargo aft door. We are finally gettin got board one next week for a look. We also love the USA made Aspen Cat, if you every get a chance to check one out I highly recommend it. We are also enquiring about the Nordhaven N41.But she is very pricey and slow but so a well thought out vessel. Please keep the video's coming:-) I was just teasing you on the accent the other day...mate:-) I'm sure my accent is weird to you. LOL

      Thanks Kirk, I appreciate that. Still learning but it's feedback from you guys that helps me build this channel. I'm scheduled to test ther Nordhavn 41 this May and I inspected her in Dubai a fortnight ago. It's on the same quality level as a Nimbus. Speed is very different being a slow and long range vessel VS a planning hull on the Nimbus so you need to have a real think about your mission brief for the next boat as that is a big question. Re the Sargo I've only seen those in Europe and the UK so I don't think we have them in Sydney so don't have any experience with them. Aspen Cat is a new name to me so i'll have to do some searching and educate myself on that! Haha I knew you were joking, I was too lol

    Be lovely in the States... we're looking for a new boat.

      Having tested many Nimbus boats now I can say they are of equal quality to Riviera boats which are a very high quality local brand we have here.

    Clever little boat. I assume with the D3 220 it’s bordering on being underpowered and the D4 270 will a little ripper by comparison?

      So yes it depends on your perspective. If you’re a sailor coming into a motor boat then you’d be fine with the smaller motor. However if you are a power boat person and appreciate the speed then yes go for the bigger motor as she will be at her best.

    I always liked the designs of Nimbus boats, but notice their fuel tanks are awful small. I wonder if it is a Scandinavian thing, do they not go far?

    • @BoatLife_DansBoatLife
      @BoatLife_DansBoatLife  Рік тому

      They get a few hundred miles on a tank at average cruising speed so it's about normal for the category. But not long distance focused that's correct

    Hey Dan, another great walk through! Are outboards available for this model? Thanks for sharing.

    • @BoatLife_DansBoatLife
      @BoatLife_DansBoatLife  Рік тому

      Not on this model as the hull is best suited to inboard shafts. But the T9, T11 and C11 which I have tested on this channel are all designed for outboards and are some of the best boats I've tested on this channel in terms of quality.

    I don't care about the boats, but I love the tight pants, Aussy accent, and the peekaboo tease of his hairy belly!
