@@sheastallings4668 I got a little bit of water on the brim, I put hot water around the whole sweatband so water on it is inevitable, I just followed everything the vid said except putting it in the dryer after the oven cuz it shrunk enough from the 5 minute bake 👍
Option 4 worked like a charm. Lids sent me a hat that was the same size as all my other low profile hats and it was way too big. I was in a pissed off mood and found your video and now I don’t think I’ve ever had a hat fit this perfectly. Appreciate the upload man!
Thanks! I had two hats that were too big. I usually wear a 7 5/8. I had 7 3/4 that seemed a little bigger than normal and a 7 7/8 that was gifted to me and was enormous. I did the oven trick on both. The 3/4 shrunk almost perfectly. I feel like after I wear it a bit it will be perfect. The 7/8 I actually put in 2 rounds (different days) and it shrunk a lot. It’s still a little bigger than I need but the difference is huge. I may go for a 3rd attempt and see if I can get it just right. Thanks so much for making this video. This recouped two useless hats for me!

Bro, I tried this method on the paper towel one years ago but it was on a different hat, didn’t think to try it with the new era fitted. Wow game changer, good looks.
I’ve been using a wet towel up under the fitted , mold it to make sure the brim and Crown are straight and I put it under the sun. Been doing that since 94. Never fails.
Awesome advice. I bought a hat at 7 3/4 and i am a 7 1/4. tried the oven trick and it worked!!!!! made it much much better after just trying the hot water and hair dryer. I kept mine in for 300 at 7 minutes though. thanks again!
Did you put yours in right at 300? And then 7 minutes worked for you? I’m in the same position you were in cause I had to buy big so I bought 2/4 too big in order to get what I wanted.
Thank You So Much! I also wear a size 7. I had purchased a limited edition throw-back hat of the Denver Bears, a former AAA team. This meaningful to me as I remember going to games when I was young, also my Dad was fortunate to be selected as a Batboy for the team in the 60s. Searching the internet for some time the only version I could find of this hat was in the fitted size of 7 1/8, so I needed to shrink it down to a 7. I followed the instructions for the baked in oven method. I baked for 6 minutes and when I took it out it was still steaming and wet, so I let it go another 4 minutes. the hat was fitted on my head each time I took it out. Initially, I unintentionally got the bill slightly wet. This worked out ok as I prefer a curved bill, once out of the oven the sightly damped bill was reshaped with baseball and rubber-band. I placed the hat about two feet from our baseboard heater for 20 minutes to fully dry. Overall, this worked PERFECTLY! This Hat Fits Like a Glove! Thanks for Sharing!
Genuine life saver, couldn’t be more happy. Spent $100 on a couple fitted hats that were too big. Put some paper towel in the back n now they fit perfect👍
Just a little tip- a lot of dryers can adapt a drying rack: it’s either a flat, plastic, grill looking rack that slips onto the front bottom lip of the dryer opening OR a rubber-dipped metal rack that has legs that swing down & rest along the very outer edges of the dryer cavity where the spinning drum makes no contact. Theses racks are usually used to dry very delicate fabrics- even hats! Prob a lot safer than an oven.
naaa you’re a genius lmao i live no where near a hat store so i measured my hat size and ordered online. the hat fitted me alright but it was kinda lose with the paper towel method it now fits perfectly. thanks my bro😤💯

Us a dryer sheet when lining your hat esp the front of it - it absorbs sweat and keeps it smelling fresh while also stopping white hats from turning yellow on the brim line from sweat
Thank you Bruh! I've gone from French braids (7 1/2 & 7 3/8) to locs, (snapbacks, 7 5/8 & 7 3/4) to a man bun, to now a baldy. (Back to my 7 1/2 & 7 3/4) I'm so grateful to be able to keep my fitteds! 👌🏾👍🏾✊🏾🤌🏾😁🧢
If you’re gonna try the oven option, It works really well but I recommend you to wet the whole hat because if you leave some part of the hat dry, it will burn just like what happened to my 59fifty, I didn’t wet the brim because I don’t want to lose the shape of the brim but that was a big mistake because it leads to a burnt brim.
Just did the oven method to my 59fifty WITHOUT wetting the brim and it was ok. As long as you don't exceed the 5 minute it will be okay. It is better to shrink it little by little than to leave it for a long time. And of course use tin foil.
@@Vlqur no my brim even got a little wet and it was fine no spots. I will say stick to the recommended temp and time frame and let the hat cool in between multiple I didn't and I burned a hat being inpatient. But done it on 7 hats and only burned one and that was my fault haha but it works 👍🏽
I tried boiling water over the cap (use tongs to hold it) soak it and the peak. In the fan oven for 8 minutes on 310 degrees. Took it out and the light grey underside of Peak had some light burn marks where it was resting on the foil. Cap was still v.wet but was definitely smaller. Then put it back in the oven but with a cookie shaper under the brim to keep it up off the foil and stop it burning, fo this in the first instance. Then each 1m.30s took it out to make sure wasn't drying out too much. After another 4mins 30s the top part of the hat was dry and on the edge of burning so removed it from the oven. Left it to rest upside down on the crown of the cap for the day to dry out the card in the peak. And it definitely is a tighter less tall fit! Thanks for the tip man. I wouldn't of ever put my cap in an oven without watching this video!
Glad it worked but, next time even if it is soaking just leave it out to dry or use a dryer. No need to continuously use the oven unless u want it tighter
Thank you for the paper inside the labels tutorial, I used an envelope so it could be thicker throughout all 3 labels inside and worked like a charm 🙌🏼💯
Bro, thank you so much for helping us out. I did it twice. I baked it in the oven and this morning such a perfect fit thank you. You’re awesome.🫶🏼 and merry Christmas.🎄
Great video man! I tried your long napkin trick but with a long strip of velcro from the dollar tree and it works perfectly! The velcro side on the fold and glue strip on the inner back of the hat and now a perfect fit. I was going to have someone sew a bit on the back for the fit on a few hats but this worked to damn good and for a dollar, technically less. Thanks for the great ideas man!
Many Underarmour and Black Clover Hats have such a deep dome and can either be too tight for average men's heads in S/M and too loose in L/XL. The oven method worked well in shrinking the dome and the fit. Thanks so much Sheroy!
As long as the buckram is wet, heat from the dryer will go towards phase transition of water to steam instead of burning the buckram. Never heat the buckram dry as that may lead to burning.
I forgot how annoying NewEra 59/Fifty sizing was as I collected them as a teen, but now at 48 got back into hats with my son, haha. This video was helpful, as I am between sizes and skewed large and they were huge! What worked best for me was drench under the tap with hot water for a while (really work in the water into the bottom that goes around the head so the fibers are fully saturated), then do the blow drying trick on the hottest setting focusing on that same area but also work it around the hat as well. When if feels pretty good I then toss it into the dryer for 15-20 minutes making sure to check on it here and there. By the time it's fully dry it fits pretty well perfect. I'd not even thought of the paper towel method, but I will use this to fill in on the ones that were still a bit loose.
I actually shrunk my New Era 39thirty Yankees cap. They don't make my certain hat anymore as they changed the style so I definitely didn't want to throw it away because it was too big. I put the hat in hot water and then put it in the oven. The hat fits much better now but I also added a paper towel and put 3 pieces of tape to stick it so it wouldn't move/fall out. Looks and fits much better. The inner band is a little bit more noticeable after the hat's thin sweat resistant material shrunk but I am looking closely for it. It looks fine to me. Surprised it work well as the hat is polyester and polyester doesn't really shrink much. Thanks.
a 7 3/8 in a cooperstown fitted always seem to fit too small so i went up to a 7 5/8 and the paper towel + folded paper method really made a difference with filling in some of that extra space.. vid was super clutch
Bro! You the man, Homie!!!! 😃 I bought a Pittsburgh Pirates hat 7 3/4 by accident (it was so dope and I didn't pay close attention! Lol) I just put the paper towel in there and it fits perfectly!!!! 😃😃😃😃😃 Thank you, Bro!
Perfect! I feel like new era is inconsistent as the one from Bangladesh fit better for me than the ones made in China. I’m a 7 5/8 and I’ve considered going down to 1/2
I also have a big ass head. I use to wear a 7 1/2 then a couple of years ago every New Era I would get would be tight. The 7 5/8 was too loose so I haven't been wearing fitted lately. The manufacturing definitely isn't as good as it use to be but my head might have grown 😂 Guess I'll go up a size and try to strink to fit.
Good video man. Before I used to wear a bandana to fill the voids on some of my bigger fitted caps, depending on my hair style. I never thought those methods with the paper towel and Amazon capsize reducer. Not entirely on board with the heat and oven thing, but you're first 2 method were are definitely a game changer for me. Thank you Ps. Instead of paper towel I used copy paper. Seems to hold the round shape more firmly. So I put 2 copy sheets together, fold them the way you did in the video; front and back. The fit feels much better. Field test to follow very soon, thanks again. Peace.
Couldn't agree more about the inconsistent sizing, I'm a 7 1/8 and recently just bought 2 caps on that size but it loose & feels like 7 3/8. Always use the paper tower method from day 1 I bought my NE cap, but the rest of the methods you've explained are wonderful. I download this video for future reference if I encounter the same problem again.
I cut the brim off a dad hat snapback i wasnt wearing anymore and just put the fitted over that. Works pretty good tbh just feels like a durag or beanie on under ur hat
Broooo! So I’m sitting in my room with these two essential fitted hats that I recently picked up realized it would have been smart to try them on but didn’t.. come to find out they don’t fit which I got irritated but sum told me to hold on them lol and here I am like wait let me look up a video on how to shrink fitted hats and I here I am first video of you pop up just clicked it proceeds to watch and soon as you said the size of the hat which is same size as mine i immediately paused the vid just to say yup this the one right here lol so I just wanted to stop and come comment on the vid cause this saved me and made my day bro ty🙏🏾 side note: I’m gonna proceed to watch the vid rn🤣🫡 so ty again cause I did not want to give up these hats!
My dude that paper towel under the flap was gold advice 👌 it's my first time having a fitted and I ordered online more or less a guess of 7 5/8, due to a big head and it fit a little big
Just be careful with the hair drier. It burned holes to the net thing in the inner lining of my new era fitter because i hold it too close. Its polyester hat but the trick worked just fine. Only 5 minutes and it was size smaller and perfect now.
Listen here because I rarely do this. The last tip works very very well. Soak the hat with the oven thing...just watch. I did it once and it wasn't quite right so I did it again and bam. Perfect fit thx man. Really.
How long did you stick it in the oven for and how long did it have to dry before you could wear it? I’m just worried I’m gonna mess it up and ruin my hat
Sir, I thank you for taking the time to do this video. Very informative. However, I have a question for you. Concerning the last method (oven method). Since you are a 6 7/8 and seem to shrink down a size 7, would such a method work to shrink down a hat that’s larger than a 7? Such as with my fitted hat size. I’m a 7 1/4 but at times I may be able to wear a 7 1/8. I can’t afford to pay the fitted hat prices from many stores that carry them so I shop at Local Ross stores where I live but I’ve noticed that if they do get fitted hats in, they’re usually size 8, 7 5/8 or 7 3/4. All much larger and don’t fit me. Could any of those sizes be shrunk down to a 7 1/4? Could a size 8 be shrunk down to 7 1/4? I do hope you will respond to my question. Again, I thank you for doing this video. Much appreciated.
What's insane is that all of these methods work. I'm a 7 1/2 and bought a New Era hat in my exact size cause it was a two toned Twins discontinued hat from last year. Thing was probably a 7 5/8 even if the tag swears its 7 1/2. I tried the folded paper towel and it fits me just right now. Thank you bro. Do you have anything on stretching it out?
Thanks for the tutorial man! I just bought a fitted hat earlier today from a store and for my fitted hat I wear a 7 1/2 but for this exact hat it doesn’t fit completely compared to my other ones.
Im a long hair biker. So I wear bandannas on larger New Era single or double. Keeps the caps clean from desert heat . Theses are interesting tips 👍 7 & under sizes fit right no bandanna. 4 caps in in that case . Kool video 💯👍👌
Awesome video. So helpful in every way. Was trying to find strategies for my hubbys New Era Father’s Day cap. The paper towel method worked wonders. Thank you!
@Dacen Keahi Hisashima turns out it was like 5 sizes too big and not 2. I didn’t try it because I wasn’t rlly expecting a large change might work on one that’s like 1 or 2 sizes up
I wear a size 7, i have many fitteds in 7 1/8, 7 1/4, 7 3/8. I recently took one of my 1/4 caps and did the oven method, once the 6 min was up the cap was still extremely wet, i let it air dry for aprox 2 full days, i did notice the cap fits a bit better, especially if you use padding on the inside. So my question is, have you tried different variations? Like 6 min in the oven, then maybe some set time out of the oven (15-30min?), then right back into the oven, maybe a few extra times? Im going to try the same hat a couple of more times in the oven
I remember doing the oven option years back on a hat. When I took it out the oven I didn't wait long enough to let it cool off and when I pressed down on my head to give the crown shape, I burned the top of my head with that top metal piece at the center of the cap (I forgot the name right now). It burnt like a mfer for a split second and made me throw it tf off my head lol. But it worked!
The paper towel works like a charm ! I agree w the inconsistent sizing but this time my girl got me a fitted for my bday so there was no trying on but now it’s chilling ! Might try the oven one soon though!

they used to be made in America, now they're made in China and they suck!!!!
💯👍👋 I like the idea of using paper towels because I can spray it with the fragrance of the day and change it whenever I want😁.
Tried the oven method it worked perfectly. Scary though because my oven doesn’t have a window lmao
what size did you shrink it to?
Lol
I ordered a new 7 1/4 . Apparently, I'm between 7 and 1/8 and 7 and 1/4. Option 5 in the oven worked great for me. Thanks!
Thank you
Ps.
So glade I found this channel, my hat size is 67/8, 7 too and so hard for the hats to fit right!! THANKS!!
I’ve passed on so many fitteds cause my small ass head.
Honestly, I think this is the first tutorial video like this I’ve watched that actually worked 😭😭😭
thanks bro i cut my hair then my fitted couldn’t fit me anymore til i did the paper thing 🙏🏾
I cut the brim off a dad hat snapback i wasnt wearing anymore and just put the fitted over that. Works pretty good tbh just feels like a durag or beanie on under ur hat
Hahaha bruh what lol
Really appreciate this. just bought my first fitted and it was a little big, tried the paper towel method and worked borderline perfect
Thanks Sheroy, I used the paper towel and the pieces of paper. It really helped! Thanks, very witty! It made a 7 3/4 fit like a 7 1/2.
tbh the paper option worked for me really well thanks for making this video for us man your a life saver
Ohhhhhh mahhhhh gahhhhh! Thank you thank you thaaaaank you! That quarter paper technique ❤
Came in clutch, usually they don’t have my size and I had to get a 7 and used the paper towel method!
Bro 😂first UA-cam video in a long time that was actually helpful…thanks for the tip🫡worked out nice with the paper towel smart idea
I'm a 7 1/2 and it is just a lil big. Hope your techniques work!
Goodluck
I just ordered a whole lot of fitted caps New Era fifty9 50 and all fit different. Not only size but the height profile
So annoying
Really.
Glad it worked well for you 😊 thank you for taking the time to comment it means alot 🙏🏽
How long did you stick it in the oven for and how long did it have to dry before you could wear it? I’m just worried I’m gonna mess it up and ruin my hat
@@L33br0n have you tried?
I did the paper towl one on my yankees fitted and now it fits perfectly thanks man
Should I take the sticker off before placing in oven???
Great Question!!
Method 4 helper fix my high-crown issue… barely pushed my ears down now 👍🏼
I’m a 7 1/2 - 7 5/8, love your videos bro, just copped 2 hats this week, blue dodgers and olive dodgers, super clean
@YDWFM what’s clean then? i’ve gotten more hats since this comment too
@YDWFM i’m a dodgers fan so. and ight thanks
@@dallascoby24 man fuck what they talking bout buy whatever hat you want and rock that shit
@@Boof_Pack 🦍🤟🏽
Polartech fitted just came out; ima 7 1/2 7 5/8 & I’m stomped for which to get 😂 ima say 5/8
Used the rolled up paper towel method, worked great, thanks!!!!
Wow, someone else with a 6-7/8-7” head?!? Thought I was alone… THANKS
It’s always the 6-7/8 hats always be selling out or 7 shit I don’t be feeling the patches on the side of the hats
Thank you for this video oven method worked for me I put it in the oven for 20 minutes from size 8 to 7 3/4
thats a huge jump! hope it works for me, tryna get a 7 3/4 down one or two sizes
Thought it was 300C ... did the work drunk .... burnt house down
Sir, I thank you for taking the time to do this video.
Thank you just got back into fitteds
True to size
Does the dryer bend the bill? How do you prevent the bill from messing up
Thanks man! This paper towel trick saved me the hassle of a return and re order.
I bought a 7 3/8 A’s joint no lie shit fit so big I measured it the mf was a size 8
Get it wet n hot with steam and buy a hatstretcher!
Thanks for the tutorial man! I just bought a fitted hat earlier today from a store and for my fitted hat I wear a 7 1/2 but for this exact hat it doesn’t fit completely compared to my other ones.
Bro this video belongs in the UA-cam HOF! 6 7/8 struggle is over!
U can finally buy tht size 7
Oven method worked for me bro thanks
Im a long hair biker. So I wear bandannas on larger New Era single or double. Keeps the caps clean from desert heat . Theses are interesting tips 👍 7 & under sizes fit right no bandanna. 4 caps in in that case . Kool video 💯👍👌
this is perfect for my head, im a 6 7/8 with wool hats and 7 with the poly blends new era used to use
Well I come from a Hispanic family so our oven is full of casuelas, pots etc…. So I’ll just use the hot water and blow dryer method.
My oven is for storage too. I just emptied everything for an hour then put it away again
what about throwing it in the dryer
Thk u so much for the useful tips!! 😍
Bro you’re a genius with the paper in the loop idea!! 🙏🙏🙏
Any options on Snapbacks? On how to shrink them
Shush😐
@@nelsoniguodala9454 stfu
how much does it shrink when you put it in the oven??
How many sizes down can you go down doing this? I wear 7 1/2, there’s a hat I want but it’s a 7 3/4… can I go down 2 whole sizes or is that extreme
7 3/4 is a quarter inch bigger than 7 1/2?
Gone for the paper towel solution. Life-changing😂
Great video and its work. But just little FYI, clean your oven b4 start, now my hat smell like turkey 😑
😂😂😭😭💀😭😂😂😭💀💀💀💀😂😂😂😭😭
💀 💀
Awesome video. So helpful in every way. Was trying to find strategies for my hubbys New Era Father’s Day cap. The paper towel method worked wonders. Thank you!
I got a Marlins hat size 8 and I’m a 7 1/2😭 definitely gonna do the oven trick for that.
Lmk how it goes I bought one that’s like 2 sizes too big on me too
Did this work? I have an 8 that I have not been able to get anywhere near a 7 1/2
@@bostonfin I haven’t tried it yet but I’ll let u know if I do
@Dacen Keahi Hisashima turns out it was like 5 sizes too big and not 2. I didn’t try it because I wasn’t rlly expecting a large change might work on one that’s like 1 or 2 sizes up
Bro, the folded paper method is genius!!! Thanks for the tip!!
Can I use just a dryer instead of a oven if so how long should I leave it in the dryer???
A dryer will mess up the shape of the hat cuz the spinning
Thanks bro for the info. Hats are expensive and my new Eagles hat was large. Thanks for helping me fit my hat right. god bless bro. Take care
How has it gone for you. The same thing happened for me.
^^^
I am a size 7 but the hat I want is only 6/78 and 7/12 what size should I go with to somewhat fif
I'm I'm 7 too, always struggling with fitment. I wish I got this information 15 yrs ago. Thanks for the vid.
Did u wet the brim at all?
@@Deadly_Ricardo_67 it was a little wet by the residual soaking of the cap but i tried to not get it wet directly
did the paper towl and paper method, fits great!
True to Size or Size Up?
Sometimes when my size is sold out I size up and shrink it. I try to stick to true to size and shrink or tweak the fit to suit my head shape better
The paper towel works like a charm ! I agree w the inconsistent sizing but this time my girl got me a fitted for my bday so there was no trying on but now it’s chilling ! Might try the oven one soon though!
Bro I don't want that paper towel sticking out my hat while I'm chillin ya heard
Do you have to take the stickers off to do the oven one
imagine forgetting your hat in the oven...

😢🤣
Imagine explaining to the fire department and your family why you burned down the house 💀 💀
