The best pick and roll PG to ever do it discussing the finer points on youtube? I don't think basketball fans in 2018 realize how good they have it. Would have killed for these insights growing up as a young player. Fascinating.
I was thinking the exact same thing. Back k. The day we had to record games on vhs rewind it to see what they were doing. Here Steve Nash is telling you ..damn!!
STATS DONT LIE 2 diff versions of pick and roll. Stockton ran it free throw line in, nash ran it from the outside like most today. Both were equally great.
@@stevenash No no! Thank you, Steve! You're a true athlete and a lover of sports in general and have been an inspiration for thousands and thousands of young kids. I'm 24 and never played a real game of basketball myself but aspire to learn the game. (I'm from Holland so football (soccer) is what it's all about here). And your tips and insights are a true blessing.
Great to see an NBA player help young, aspiring kids with their game. Especially a player of Nash's magnitude. Nothing but respect for one of the greatest
Steve Nash, the point god!! You truly changed the game and used tactics that were unconventional at the time. Thanks for sharing your insight on UA-cam.
I am not, nor was I ever a basketball player. I do enjoy watching it though and youtube is a gold mine for old videos. Love this video as it shows how one of the best ever made the big plays.
Basketball IQ from a great master !! Take notes young generation! What a luxury to live in this era and witness this golden information for free.! Thank you, Steve
Steve is such a wonderful person. Always willing to help young people and tell people what he knows and learns in years. I have watched quite a few times. Very good lesson.
wow thank you so much for the video! it puts less emphasis on the pick, and its all about positioning your man, to give yourself the most opportunities as possible. the back to the basket is done far too often, as a way of shielding the ball. but at the detriment to the offense, as when you showed it your whole left side is out of your field of vision and it makes it difficult for you as the bball handler to make a play.... its far more defensive and timid position to be in! Thanks Steve! Always an attacking mindset!
This is so helpful, the hip swivel is exactly what I need when facing a bigger and faster point guard. I love this series, pure genius. Love you Steve and see you at the Charity shield next month!
F*ing Nash! I love it. I wish he was able to finish his documentary "The FInish Line" with Bill Simmons. That was going really well and was so eye-opening.
I wish I can meet you! Those are awesome tips Steve! Keep teaching these kids! I want to see them on the Suns one day and get the organization back to the glory days!
Hi! I watch all of your videos and do what u say in them and it has helped on my game. Your my all time favorite player. I wish u were still in the NBA.
I am 31 years old, been balling since I was 7. It's too late for me to use much of this on my own but I'm going to study and learn everything on this channel so I can teach it to my future son.
Steve, please talk about how you master the hesitation blowby and what role the hand slap plays (you always seem to slap your man's hand, fully extending your arm behind you as you go by him), please talk about how that helps you get by your man! Also how to perfectly execute the hesitation pull up! Thank you and please post as many of these training videos as possible, they are basketball scripture to me.
NASH IS ONE OF THE BEST POINT GUARDS EVER!! I know I’m about to hear some slack from someone but I’d even take him over Curry !!! Steve was a better point guard hands down. And I don’t know why everyone keeps talking about the way curry shoots no disrespect to him but Nash shot just as well if not better !!! He was more of a pass first then get his shot after or he went by what the defense gave him at that moment. His passing ability and to find the open man at any given moment! And one of the only point guards to dribble in the paint among the trees and make something happen. Thank you for UA-cam so I can watch Steve Nash’s old games!!!!
The best part is when he asked the kid what does he like more as a defender. When u know the key to attacking is putting defenders in the same positions that u DONT like to be in , that's bball IQ
Back the 80's we'd buy Magic Johnson's tutorial tape which didn't teach anything more than the basic of basics. And if you lucked out of a good coach you get sloppy coaching. Now you have youtube vids of personal insights of techniques from greats themselves. I hope kids take time to learn these instead of skipping them to practice Kyrie crossovers right away.
Get Your Work Done Early Create A Yard Of Space Do Not Rely On The Screen But Create A Yard Of Space Based On Ball Handling 1.) Shift The Defender 2.) Hip Swivel - Option When Defender Is Quicker & Stronger
Yeah it would have been better if they gradually made the song louder and not as abrupt, but hey they just started making these videos, so they're still learning :) some constructive criticism would never hurt

Dan Morgan Nash or Stockton
James Harden is pretty good too

Real point guard..! I want a chance that i meet nash haha
Underrated #MVPforAReason #SaltyShaq
learned so much in 4 minutes
The best part is when he asked the kid what does he like more as a defender. When u know the key to attacking is putting defenders in the same positions that u DONT like to be in , that's bball IQ
When will Steve make the jump to coaching or at least an assistant coach? He can do it, easy
legend

Paul of course I’m gonna use this because my three point shots off hopefully this helps
Best PG ever 💪
The first shot looks like its a cutscene from 2K
Thx Steve nash

For a while there, I thought the thumbnail said RICK N ROLL
You can see how an mvp dribbles
What the, I didn't know you had a youtube channel
What happened to new videos weekly?
2:35 - This music was too random and too loud. It gets in the way of what Nash is trying to say!
Yeah it would have been better if they gradually made the song louder and not as abrupt, but hey they just started making these videos, so they're still learning :)
some constructive criticism would never hurt
the colour grading of this video in the beginning makes it look like its from 2k
