Yeah the Byrnes haven't exactly been lighting it up have they?

It’s obvious that frawley and Prendergast are the way forward

Reality is Leinster have 3 poor 10s and a good all round player in Frawley. Ross is URC level, Harry should be playing AIL, Prendergast has potential but can't tackle for shit so its going to be hard for him to progress as a professional.

If neither Ross nor Harry are as good as Crowley, shouldn't we be looking elsewhere. The Burns are good rugby players but are not world class. "WE NEED WORLD CLASS." Every game they play is a wasted opportunity.

Leaving Ross at 10 for another year wont work. The best teams know they don't really have to watch him as he will just stand and sling.

It was summed up well on the left wing podcast the other day. The outhalf situation at Leinster isnt letting anyone put their hand up. Its just constant rotation, and indecision by Leo is costing us. Pick a main guy (Frawley for me, but itll never happen) ship off one (H Byrne) and rotate in Sam and Ross behind Frawley. Frawley is only 26. He could easily be 2nd choice Ireland outhalf by 2027 WC.

The best OH there at the moment is Frawley. Sam Prendergast will be a world star. Harry Tector is also coming along. Both Byrne’s should probably go elsewhere as they don’t quite cut it at the very top level.

Why not go to Ulster, they have an excellent back line and Murphy as coach will change things up

They've just signed a very good Irish qualified 22 year old 10 from the Hurricanes. Aidan Morgan

Do Leinster have a problem accepting talent that doesn’t fit the mold?
Tadg Beirne let go to Wales, Hugo Keenan had to go to sevens, even JGP was second choice to McGrath until Farrell started picking him for Ireland.
How many great players have been lost to Irish rugby because they were thought surplus to Leinster requirements

if Frawley has the ambition to reach his potential he should leave leinster for another province that promises him he'll be played at 10. more than any other position, you need time in the saddle at out -half and Leo has shown that, despite many glimpses of frawleys potential at 10, he will continue to use him as a utility back (which he'll never be international standard at)

Ross is not going to get any quicker at this stage. He's not top drawer quality. His ceiling is lower.
I'd let Ross go altogether and send Harry out west or up north. Harry needs game time so send him on loan. We've Barrett coming in December too so there's another name...
Too much crap going on keeping players happy. This is the best of the best - perform or go...
Leinster's match day squad has been missing the elite players at the highest level this year and last.
I wonder what Andy F thinks of this because he really likes Harry Byrne, apparently...

wtf are these guys talking about. Leinster don't have 1 decent out half, never mind depth.

And yet every single one of the provinces would any of those 4 Leinster 10s to wear 10 or 22 at their province

The decision about who Leinster keep in the squad for the fly-half position going forward, should be based on performance not speculation. Leinster (imo) just have to accept the reality that the current pecking order is not working as intended. Yes there are some mitigating circumstances, particularly the addition of Jacques Nienaber to the coaching regime. The adjustment period to the implementation of JNs defensive schemes plus the loss of Sexton, is taking a deal longer than most Leinster fans thought. Add in the loss of Gary Ringrose to injury and it is apparent that the Leinster backline is struggling to produce a cohesive attack. The spotlight has been unerringly focused on the Leinster #10 jersey to provide the leadership needed during this time. Unfortunately, it has been lacking too often. I agree with Bernard Jackman - keeping 4 means that none of the backups get proper development. Harry Byrne should move to Connacht where he would get far more playing time and the chance to show what he can really offer.

    Ross is quite slow.

  • @dublin7

For the betterment of Irish Rugby as a whole, Harry Byrne needs to go to Ulster and Charlie Tector go to Connacht. Jack Carty is nailed on for Connacht, Tector is a talented 10 who is gonna regress if he doesn't get some game time. Connacht would be an ideal spot for him. Harry Byrne needs to be starting regularly and at Ulster he would get that chance with a young scrum half in Doak and a veteran in Cooney. Leinsters depth chart should be Ross Byrne, Ciaran Frawley and Sam Prendergast with an academy fly half the 4th option.

Think Sam should go to connaught for a year, see how he can play behind a weaker scrum. Leinster should give more game time to frawley at out half.

Leinster havnt produced an international quality 9 or 10 in 20 years.

True in terms of 9 but Johnny Sexton won world player of the year so that would suggest they have produced a world class player

@sedtec7647 obviously sexton mate. I was thinking precisely since then. Sexton was the last.

Sam is good enough that he could be Leinster's first choice this time next year. I think Harry and Frawley should leave for the year - Harry as discussed and Frawley kind of becomes surplus when Jordie arrives.
In general, it'd be cool to have agreements with ProD2 clubs to loan younger players as well, e.g. Charlie Tector.

Someone was commenting on another UA-cam video about Connacht being at such a disadvantage, and they basically are because of population and playing numbers, surely the main way of beefing them up is by offloading more of the surplus players from other provinces (mostly Leinster atm) for development. It'd be a win win if those involved in Connacht were able to not be too pd off about being somewhat of an offload and development squad province.

One needs to go and that might as well be Harry. Frawley is the one they need to keep but the question is where to play him. He must be in as many match day squads. I would like to see him start more games at 10 and to see Sam get more game time. Letting one go is fine but they need to be careful and avoid doing like Munster letting four (Hanrahan, Healy, Carbery and Flannery) of five go and then having to sign a player arguably not as good as at least three of the ones that have left.
