Body piles don’t do what you said at all actually (I mean they don’t spawn enemies).
They are there to be looted and serve as barricade. If you don’t want them you can also destroy them with no workers (but no loot). The big ones can give items when looted so they are really beneficial
Damn, I was really hoping this update added that function because that sounds like an awesome addition
Hes not even showing the new map lol
@@xanderismellow you don`t need that, later stages will have enemies spawn at crazy high numbers, with stronger units and gimmicks to make it more annoying. one game had so many enemies units the game was crashing.
He also got the story completely wrong, unless the DLC changed it dramatically.
@@treyedwards572 nope just got it wrong
You turned me on to this game a couple years ago and now I'm 200 hours deep into the game.
Thanks again Splat!
You got the story slightly wrong. In short: One mage dropped a nuke, then everyone started dropping nukes. Now the "fallout" corrupts everything, and the mages are trying to reverse it.
Not that it matters. The gameplay is the phenomenal part.
20 bucks for base game and dlc. Worth.
I have 200 hours in this game it's incredible
The map with the specters took me about 10 tries to beat.
Is it worth the buy? Be honest. Or should I wait till a sale?
@@funasylumstudio it is on for 40% off right now
@@funasylumstudio wait till sale
Been in my wishlist forever, will definitely prioritize to buy, both thanks to you Splat!
I recommend you wait for modding.
DLC didn’t wipe out my saves. But at the end of early access there were some resetting changes.
Well shit.
I loved playing this game, and played a fair bit last year. Thanks for the video letting everyone know they have a new DLC!
This game seems super in-depth and I dig that. Looks like something you could sink tons of time into and not get bored of. I've seen other people cover this game, but nobody explained it's mechanics and everything like Splat. I thought it looked kinda cool, but those videos didn't do a good job at helping me understand what was going on. I appreciate that about Splat. Thanks for sharing this man and explaining everything well! ✌️
This game reminds me of Battle Brothers meets Final Fantasy Tactics in different ways. Pretty sweet.
great content as always mate
Love this game so much - was one of the first i ever bought after watching one of your videos! Was wondering if you would cover the DLC :)
One of my favorite games! I think if you have a steamdeck this is a must have!
Did they fix the controls? The controls were such ASS when it released
Doesn't work on steam deck
@@chonde813 I figured as much. That sucks. It has such promise on consoles it was made for them!
On sale after a SC video is straight value. Thanks for the recommend, it's exactly the replayable tactics I needed. First ever run I beat the harpies on the last arrow loosed.
Heck yes, I played the game back when it was just leaving Early Access and thanks to your video I found out about the DLC. Bought & Downloaded yesterday, back to slay some monsters.
was on wishlist, seen you playing, got it ;)
This game looks absolutely fantastic. Purchased and installed.
This is a great game and the soundtrack will have your head bobbing while playing.
Game looks awesome, thank you for this.
Thanks for showcasing. ^^
Definitely going to buy this on PS5. Didn't even know it had come out on consoles.
Been playing this game from the early days, and it has been amazing and worthwhile from the very beginning. It's epic and always has been. Any new content is just bonus, it was already great.
Great job.
@5:25 Damage is easily healed in this game there is a building for it its is cheap and offers free action heal as well as workers usage for heals..
One of my favorite jokes about the game is the shop. The merchant is facing literal, apocalyptic extermination, but he still insists on selling you things instead of giving them to you, lol.
Prices and trade are great especially in an apocalypse. They ensure there is an incentive in the first place to preserve and produce resources. If freely given to anyone who merely claims to be able to use it then they are squandered on day one and everyone is far worse off. See Aesop's Tale of the Ant and the Grasshopper.
Progression got reset sometime during early access to facilitate a restructuring of certain game mechanics. I'm certain it happened sometime after your first video, since I ended up buying the game because of your review immediately after.
The game and DLC are available on GOG as well (DRM-free).
This setting reminds me of scp 3008 the endless ikea where lost customers band together and build walled settlements out of furniture and defend them from misshapen ikea staff at night😁
Dwarf Toss is so much fun.
This looks sick. Thanks Splatty 👍
That kind of game usually isn't my thing, but this one, with the turn based fight, feels nice and good. I might give it a try in the end !
wait for modding, RNG will drive you mad.
did they patch out the stat stacking?
I think i remember secondary equipment still give you the bonus stats it gives even if you dont switch with it
kept my units alive even on a swarm
This game is near perfection at what it does. It's worth every penny, especially if you enjoy tactical RPG combat like this. The art and animations are truly amazing, especially how responsive and impactful they are. Oh, the DLC is incredible. I will always toss the dwarf.
I want it, I'm getting it!
Yes, I love games that are like Final Fantasy Tactics. That's why I would love for Nintendo to make Final Fantasy Tactics Advance & Advance 2 into ports for the S/switch. (And maybe the original version of Tactics Ogre, since I now have Reborn.)
I'd also like the original Ogre Battle, Ogre Battle 64, The 7th Saga, Breath of Fire III & IV, & the rest of the Fire Emblem series.
(Just to name a few.)
But that doesn't mean I'm automatically going to like THIS game. And I'm not sure I do, because it seems more like a 2.5D Tower Defense game with RPG elements than a proper tactics game. I guess I'll have to play it some to make a firm determination about it either way, but I'm a little too busy & my computer is a little too stuffed to take a chance on something like this at the moment.
The artwork is pretty good, though. I'll give it that.
Got this game aages ago and love it in short bursts. I never finish runs though because to me it feels really oppressive for some reason lol, then when I return I want to start from scratch. I do same thing in total war/age of wonders though some campaigns just take too long and starting fresh is too fun.
Total war campaigns become boring the moment you've defeated the strongest opponent on the map outside of mechanics like realm divide in shotgun 2.
Dropped some big hours on this game... all thanks to Splat.
Fun game. Only thing I can complain about is the backblast on the cannon is the only thing that has killed my characters, base defences, and has ended my runs so far :/ It's very punishing.
I love this game but I kinda miss the early builds' difficulty during the boss nights. The game used to be like 'oh yeah, that last night? Well the next one has double the size of a horde, that never s tops spawning. Oh yeah, and I threw a boss in there, or multiple rather, teehee'.
Now the game pities you and makes it so the regular trash during the boss nights aren't overwhelmingly numerous alone =P. But the first time I completed lakeshire I felt like I really EARNED that +1ap passive unlock thing. I've reset my progress since and now I snored my way and got it on my first try, and that's even after crossbow guns got nerfed to the ground.
Oh and it is an incredibly good game
if not for you i dont know there is an expansion. now im off to steam to get the DLC.
great game
rock and stone to the bone
wow i should have gotten this game sooner
Rad game thx kitten
Didn't expect dlc
Splat I feel you on the whole waiting for AI to take turns thing. That should be designed to go as fast as possible.
The music is so great... too bad that Splattys voice overpowers it for most of the video. Yet Splattys voice is the reason we watch the video ... dilemma
it's good for a few hours. unfotunately the continuous high intensity notes can make long gaming sessions stressful. love the game more playing wii music to balance it out
@@silco5343 well the high intensity is what keeps me going when pushing through longer nights ... but to each their own...
Yeah, was about 3GB worth of stuff. Tho this game is hard as all hell it sure is rewarding.
God finding this channel has been so bad for my wallet.
Been the same for me bid sense I started years ago, I've gotten so many and also avoided so many indie games thanks to splat.
Same problem
🖤
I come here as a dwarven brethren
Game is good, game is cool.
DLC is not giving that much but it is quite cheap as well so.
The Last Spell is not the type of game I thought it is, I was expecting more siege survival type of gameplay where you have to find enough food and water on top the materials and gears needed to beef up your defences and heroes. So the game threw me off the first time I played it. Admittedly I didn’t look up any gameplay before buying it, so that was on me. However, the gameplay loop was enjoyable and I got sucked in. Didn’t regret the purchase 🤷♂️.
That said, this is about the DLC, I have planned to buy it after finishing the gameplay, but I am taking my time with it.
Yep this game is awesome. Has everything and then some. Good job devs!
I like this game, my problem with it is that it is very far from being family friendly. By family friendly, I mean friendly to ppl with families. You can't save and come back mid mission, and a full run takes hours.
You can totally save your progress mid mission. When you hit escape to the menu, just select "main menu" and your progress will be saved.
@@Zantetsu808 Even in the middle of the mission, not in that interlude where you choose upgrades?? I wonder if that's a "new" thing because I really don't remember it from when I first played it last year. Maybe the fact that it doesn't really tells you it will save the progress....
@@NoOne-fe3gc Nah, you can save mid mission. During the build phase or the combat phase. So go ahead and save and resume anytime you need to spend time with your family.
@@Zantetsu808 well thanks for the info man. I think I will pick it back up then, the game is really fun =)
Fun game, but each run takes too long to finish. Spending more than an hour each time you lose a run can be pretty tedious after a while
That is my one complaint about the game.
comment for the comment god!

This is a Fantastic game! If you like what you see, give it a chance. It is 💯 % worth it
Did they fix the economy problem? I.e., where you build only economy buildings early, struggle hard for the first handful of waves (sometimes lose based on the starting weapon rolls), and then auto-win the game.
If they didn't, then what's the point? It doesn't matter how much they add to the game because none of it matters because the gameplay doesn't matter because you can't lose.
Then...don't play that way?
@@davidrosensin7985 don't play the game, play a different one? thanks, great advice
@@MrCattlehunter Well, you're clearly not very good at reading comprehension. I didn't say play a different game. I said play a different WAY. But uh, good on you, buddy.
@@davidrosensin7985 playing poorly on purpose is playing a different game than playing well on purpose, didn't realize that needed to be pointed out. go try mix the two styles in a team game and see how many agree with you that you're playing the same game, if the reasoning alone isn't enough for you to get it.
@@MrCattlehunter You're conflating a single player experience to a PvP experience. That's disingenuous at best. You're the type of person that wants FromSoft to nerf a strong PvE weapon that is easily parryable in PvP because "Why would I use anything else?"
Just because something is the meta doesn't mean you have to play that way.
Hell, the FGC proves this every month. There are clearly better and worse characters at the top tier, yet people still play the 'lowest' tier characters. Why? Because they're playing the character they like. If playing the meta is what's fun to you and you think it's too easy, the download some difficulty mods. Change some file settings. But to sit here and dump on the game because a particular playstyle makes things 'unfun' to you because you don't have the capacity to play any other way...that's a you problem, homie.
Lets be real. why are we looking at this game? new dlc? new content? new.....no. we are looking at it because there are dwarfs ^^
Playing this game low music feel so wrong (i know it like this for the sake of the video)
lol, it is so dangerous to watch your videos so close to payday
I own at least 20 games because of Splat.
Probably way more actually.
@@Galvaxatron lol, yeah, bout the same here. Good games!
A pitty the game doesn't work on Steam Deck
ever since they randomized skills i stopped playing. builds are just dice rolls now.
I know your pain. later stages the RNG makes it a nightmare.
short version RNG ruins this game wait for modding. real modding currently you only have language change.
long version.
This is one of the few games I gave a negative review. you will not see the reason in this video because it is still too early but at later levels, it gets more annoying but the level. 1st there`s too much RNG to the point skill, strategy, and anything requiring thinking is useless. you live by the RNG and you die by the RNG. Your swordsman can get levels that only suit mages for a while and you can`t switch classes. the game thinks you can and encourages you but switching classes means you will be double handicapped. because you have a skill tree you are only allowed around 11 skills so if you put 6 skills on Warrior and get mage stats you are screwed. Your items are also RNG both in what they are, and what stats they have. I had cloth armor of EPIC or RARE quality being better than LEGENDARY gear. and new levels have new gimmicks designed to make it harder on top of the natural increase of difficulty. some gimmick has you waste turns disabling shrines the summon gosht fighter to help the enemy. then there are the invulnerable enemies that will shoot LAZERS at you in Kamehameha style and you can`t do anything to them for X amount of turns. and the natural increase in difficulty being more enemies and stronger enemies. this is too long and I barely touched a single of the issues and I still have gotten to other offenders like some skills are set in stone and others are not. so if you have a warrior your final skill can be organic armor which is pure thrash. it replaces armor for HP. In-game armor is a flat block to most types of attacks. so every turn you can block 40-90-200 damages if you have the armor. so the game can double handicap you by removing your base skill and giving you thrash ones.
Some of the one-liners ain't too bad.
