1:05: In order to generate electricity you have to have an electric current power the electromagnet? Where does the voltage come from that goes from the excitation winding that powers the rotor? I know the engine spins the rotor, but without any current how do the copper wires in the rotor generator any power? Is there another source of the current?
There is a permanent magnet on the flywheel(on the other end ) . The magnet is needed for magneto to generate spark from plug. The magnetism extends from flywheel and crankshaft to rotor shaft and body laminations. This add to residual magnetism of the rotor lamination. When you pull the starter rope, some small volts(e.g 1-5 volts) are generated in the main and exciter coils by induction from rotor lamination residual magnetism. This exciter current is fed into the rotor(field) coil(thru diode, avr, carbon brush, slip ring). More magnetism is induced in the rotor. Higher voltages are then induced in the exciter and main coils to generate ac. The higher the rotor magnetism the higher the the voltages and currents induced in the main and exciter coils. When the main coil is producing enough voltage (120v or 240v) , its feedback through avr limits current from exciter coil, no additional magnetism is induced in rotor coil, the voltage induced in main coil is stable In a portable 2 stroke engine without avr, exciter coil is connected to a capacitor, the exciter coil charges its capacitor. Main, exciter and rotor coils are not connected together. When the starter rope is pulled, residual magnetism (addition from flywheel magnet) in the rotor induces voltage(1-4v) in exciter and main coils. Current that flow in exciter coil charges its capacitor and induces higher current in rotor coil. Exciter capacitor charges and discharges resulting in oscillat ing current. The current in rotor coil induces higher magnetism in the rotor coil and laminations which in turn induces higher voltage in the main and exciter coils. There is no physical connections among main, rotor(field) and exciter coils as it happens in generator with avr. Speed governor in the crank case help in voltage regulation, which is poor and somehow adjustable. Resistor load is needed to achieve some voltage stability This is my explanation If you have a better explanation, kindly let me know
The rotor/shaft spins due to engine combustion (mechanical energy). As the rotor spins, it induces current onto the stator windings and that’s the current that’s going into power your home/appliances. Generator = mechanical energy into electrical Motor = electrical energy into mechanical
So, a portable generator is really just a single-phase (synchronous?) electric generator whose prime mover is a gasoline motor/engine. That is, the crankshaft of the gasoline motor is mechanical coupled to the rotor of the electric generator. Right?
@Hays Coleman It's very fesible. In principle, any electrical generator can also serve as an electric motor, or vice versa. In hybrid vehicles and other lightweight power systems, a "motor-generator" is a single electric machine that can be used as an electric motor or a generator, converting between electrical power and mechanical power.
A car's engine is covered up by the hood and its cover. A generator is open. If you manufactured a generator similar to how a car engine's made, it would be very bulky. Especially since the engine and alternator (charger) need to be together to create electricity.
Carburetor may be faulty , pushing too much fuel in to the cylinder(bad needle valve, bad float). Piston rings might have worn out. Poor ignition not producing adequate sparks
Electricity is "made" when the magnets spin around their magnetic field over looped copper wire. How the rotation of the magnets is done is of no concern really, as long as those get turned it's going to work. you can spin a handcrank, or let steam do the rotating, or water pressure. In case of gas, or whatever combustible you are using, it works as an engine, Gas and air get compressed in a small chamber on top of the shaft and when the sparkplug ignites the air/feul mix it wil decompress rapidly and that force has to follow a specific path to get outside, that path is connect to the rotating shaft and will turn the shaft in circles. The magnets are placed on this rotating shaft and makes the magnetic field go around and starts the electrons flowing. If you are like me though, you will need a visual of the process to help understand it. I'm not like those smart people who can read a text and then visualize it, i need videos and animations ^^
No problem if yourvpowers down build a big hamster wheel and wire you a stator and field with pick ups,and lithim ion phosphate battery get a coiple of tweekys, you konw tweekys..let em run that stuppid cray off.and light the toaster oven and jacuzzi.
Got me a 3k wat champion that won't start, backfires every time and just don't start. ??? Any tips because I'm not a mechanic, I just want to learn why this thing ain't working
It worked for 3 months, regularly changed oil every 80 hours and it broke a spring, fixed it and the throttle started reving on its own until it revved so much it backfired and never started again.
GOD loves you enough to send HIS only SON to save you and if you repent and turn from your sins and be baptized in THE NAME OF THE FATHER, THE SON and THE HOLY SPIRIT. ((if you haven't )
Why the hell does these stupid manufacturers not use permanent magnets. Then you wouldn't need gas power, you could hook to a windmill and get free power. JUST ANOTHER DESIGN THAT USES FUEL.
Jerry Spann well for one thing, it would be pretty inefficient (unless of course you live in a windy area). Plus permanent magnets do exist, except if I'm not mistaken, they’re a bit expensive to produce so. In theory, it’s possible but quite inefficient and a bit expensive
Someone send a search party, I am so lost.

@@adeyemibabatunde1814 I thought it was the "residual" magnetism that gave just enough current

Generator = mechanical energy into electrical
Motor = electrical energy into mechanical
Thanks guys we just had a big storm on Tuesday in we are out of power,I guess its time to buy a power generator now.

Do you have a animated video of avr functions and wiring connection.
Generator cars are the future.
Bob Outélama what Lmao 😂
INFORMATIVE!
i think if you put in power through the outlets while the engine is off you may be able to turn the generator into a motor
well I don't think that would happen. You'd blow the fuse and potentially damage the IO controller board

unless a diode is connected to the outlet to help stabilize the power; it would not allow power coming in through the power output to turn the motor
Can power be produced with lower rpm that stated here?
Thank you 😊
why generator make lot of noise ... ? is better to manufacture it to operate like a car engine a bit silent
A car's engine is covered up by the hood and its cover. A generator is open. If you manufactured a generator similar to how a car engine's made, it would be very bulky. Especially since the engine and alternator (charger) need to be together to create electricity.
Silent generator option is available
engine cylinder valves. exhaust.
Nice explantation
Thanks
I have this same generator the problem is gas (petrol) been found in the oil compartment after its works for a while. What causes this problem
I have this generator too. What are you talkin about exactly?
Carburetor may be faulty , pushing too much fuel in to the cylinder(bad needle valve, bad float).
Piston rings might have worn out.
Poor ignition not producing adequate sparks
how to increase the rated amps
what type of generator is this synchronous or induction.
Omg ik you're here because of the school work 😃
Thank you!
I really love and appreciate this video, well done
Thank you... Exactly what I needed ❗👉🇬🇧👈
You're welcome!

Video is OK. could be better in depth. not bad.
Does anyone knows whats the engine rpm on the generator with electrical load?
3600
Thank u for this video
Thank you and god bless you
I need to take apart that generator to get Thoes magenents
Any survivor mains here?
I still don't understand how gas turn into electricity.

You left out the most important part , how it starts up.
thanks
But does the copper wire ever wear down to nothing since electricity is the flow of copper electrons. Does the copper wire eventually disappear???
No, copper wire will last 100 years under proper conditions.
@@xenomorph7299 Oh Thank you!
When electricity flows it returns. No net loss
Why hasn’t anyone manipulated these designs for personal gain?
Nice
All you gotta do is just rub the gen like Dwight does.
ah oh... i see lots and lots of them with NO brushes; (keep looking ºº tks)
Cool

I though a Generator was a combine 1 of these. Water flow, Fuel motor or wind mill and an Alternator.
Thank you
I will look in to this.
Do not on fridge ac or it will get broom broom or it will explode

Faulty oil switch, ignition
10/10 as usual
that didn't tell me anything I wanted to know, like how does gasoline turn an electric motor ?
i only have 50 iQ, sooo...
It's quite hard to explain because there is soooooooo many gears, belts, chains, pulleys, etc.!😧😧😧👍👍👍
GOD loves you enough to send HIS only SON to save you and if you repent and turn from your sins and be baptized in THE NAME OF THE FATHER, THE SON and THE HOLY SPIRIT. ((if you haven't )
No gas needed
video see it....thank you sir......
thnk uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
If put in wheels of hybrid vehicles then never have to charge vehicles = eco vehicles see is here 😊😄✨✨✨

Permanent magnets are brittle. magnet can break Magnetic strenght can't be varied easily for voltage regulations
