My grand father loved this song. I have a love recording of this song and he’s in the crowd losing his mind and hyping the players up and they’re having a blast, today would’ve been his 88th birthday and I play this song every year. Thank you for this, that Trombone player was amazing and it was my grandpas favorite instrument. Cheers everyone
I had to listen to this twice.....wait a minute I better listen to this a couple of more times. Hehehehe. This has me hopping around the living room naked with the dogs barking at me. Hehehehe
The amount of talent in that room is immeasurable. That many people playing at once and not over the tops of others except when it's their time up front. Absolutely beautiful! Can't wait to see this guy live.
The amount of talent in that room is, I believe, the maximum amount of talent allowed in any one room at once. Any more talent would render all other rooms of assembled talent as utterly meaningless.
Holy Jeez! I think I've just turned my self inside out with happiness listening to this incredible blast of music! I damn near disjointed my ankles tapping away to this! Lawd a' Mighty! Zounds abound bro'!
I want a movie to be made about this whole thing.....from his start in Illinois listening to blues music in the diner to the time he meets up with the South City Three....how he fell in love with St. Louis ....and the world wide touring. I want to show clips of the history of American music to include all genres. The movie should be at least eight hours long with about ten sequels.
I'm familiar with Smiley Burnett's rendition, and I love this one! Love listening to and watching these awesome musicians! Thanks for putting this video out there.
cant wait to see you play in Louisville tonight. my wife and I have been excited for this. we bought tickets to a Jack White show a few years back, Jackson Tenn. we made it to the show late and missed you opening the show. look for a sevenfoot tall guy swing-dancing, that's me (us).
Listen to all of Pokey LaFarge. This guy and his band are the best to come along the pike in years. Something for everybody. Call it "Roots Music," call it old-time pop, it's great. I second the call for the movie. Thanks, Sharon Walker.
Thank you. Used to listen to my Dad do maybe the root of this wonderful ditty. How did I get so lucky to happen on Pokey? 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼Beautiful work , all.
Great musicians playing a great song. Why? Because they love what they do and here they're doing it for the sheer love of the music, not because they're contracted to or being paid by an audience. Sheer love, and it shines all the way through.
I believe that this is a clip from a PBS pledge drive special documentary with Jack White covering the early history of recorded music starting with a lead weight on a string that went to the floor in about 3 minutes, thus, songs on records had to be that short or shorter. Seems like it was a multi-part doc and Pokey and this crowd burnt down the house, along with a bunch of other stars. The producers went to much trouble and expense to renovate the only equipment extant in order to duplicate the original procedures. I regret ever erasing that doc but it was about 6 hours of bandwidth and I figured I could find it again if I wanted to.
Do you mean "American Epic"? I think he recorded two songs for the album, but I haven't watched the film yet because it's difficult to get outside the US. May have to try importing it now if you say he's in it :D
