So, better to have a completely different arrangement then to do a note-for-note. Otherwise, it’s karaoke. Also, there is NEVER a need to invade the guitarist’s personal space while he is soloing. If you are that self-conscious, leave the stage briefly or at least pretend to take a drink. The guitarist NEVER needs a singer’s support to do a solo. It’s a bad combination of Nooby and Creepy. (At no point did the guitarist awkwardly rub up on you while you were singing.)
