TVS is one of the biggest motor manufacturer in the world.
They havent built a 100 million on new uk R and D base just to carry on making the old Garnier bikes. Will take a few years for new design Norton bikes to come on stream.

The new owners did not want to use the Chinese engines.
So are developing their own engine for the Atlas models.

A relatively minor point but, minimizing the pinch-weld on the Norton’s fuel tank is a major aesthetic improvement. Compare the exposed-pinch weld on Triumph’s retros against this beautifully sculpted tank; the difference is subtle, but significant.

It's a Major point. They went belly up in the 70's and haven't made anything since. They are claiming 125 years of continuous manufacture. Do the math.

@@pistonburner6448 well poo, that was a quick few months. I guess it is up to how invested they are in keeping it alive. MG is Chinese but still going. Maybe they can do the same and expand production. Not quite the same but they may have good intentions. Nothing really stays with our memories of the past does it. At least I still have my Triumph Daytona. I might have to buy the '71 commando 850 a friend has been wanting to sell me. It needs help but it's all there in good shape. My part is small but got to keep my smile

That ENergette not only looks good but practical with the proper handlebars rather than drop/clipons. And that F750 - then70s racer - the bbc made a terrific documentary at the the time following Peter Williams as he attempted and succeeded winning the TT. Saw it as a 16yo, would like to see it again

Norton is very creative in getting to their 125 year anniversary. They are using 1898 as the start date going through to 2023 to get 125 years. There first bulit Norton motorcycle was 1902 and Nortons were produced commercially through 1973 so that is 71 years. Let's be generous and give Garner's Norton credit from 2008 to 2020 which is another 12 years so that makes 83 years. Let's be even more generous giving TVS credit making Nortons from 2020 through 2023 another three years so now the total is 86 years producing commercially for sale or order not 125 years.
There about 39 years short of 125 years of producing Nortons for sale unless the 39 years represents how long it will take to deliver any of these motorcycles shown here.😄😄

Norton has really nailed its colours to the mast with the release of these very low volume boutique bikes, clearly aiming for the well off. A bit like those shop windows you occasionally walk past where nothing has a price tag on it. Don’t come in if you need to ask and all that ……..shame really as RE and even BSA brands confirm where the market is hot and buoyant. As pretty as they are these bikes reek of ‘Goodwood revival’ to me, the Henry Cole mob, nobbing about showing off their fabulous no expense spared restored wonders. Not for the real world.

I REALLY would like to have the 588 V4SV as it reminds me of my time watching Rocket Ron Haslam at Brands Hatch year after year, but £52k? Really? Ducati Panagale V4S or spend twice as much on this? All those bikes look stunning, even though beyond a bit of dressing, they're essentially unchanged from the original models.
For me, it's expected that Norton is a premium brand, but it just feels a bit cynical in the same way as the premium British car manufacturers. Anybody remember when Aston Martin bought a load of Toyota Aygos and called them Cygnets? I personally delivered a few, they were beautifully finished, but as you'd expect it was just an exercise in slightly lightening the purses of rich, narcissistic, gullible fools. Norton hasn't quite got to that point yet, but press releases, interviews with key management figures and some of the recent models releases, suggest that this is their trajectory.
I think that for now, all that we can hope for is RE and BSA to try to move into the middle ground while still maintaining their current budget base as well.

If I wanted a classic look and service it myself I’d buy a RE for a fraction of the price, or a Triumph at a fair price. Where are the Atlas and ADV bikes that would actually sell in the current market? I’d love to buy a Norton but there’s nothing available I’m remotely interested in regardless of price. Shame.
