Notes:
1. You will need to look up dosbox and download it.
2. Alt+Enter goes to full screen in DosBox
3. If you Alt+tab out while a mission is loading it will crash the game.
4. In the folder, Gamekey.map and input.map are the files to edit keymaping. I prefer Notepad++ for that.
5. "E" targets nearest enemy, "Q" targets reticle target, "R" cycles through targets.
I'm Ray Savage and have been doing things mechwarrior for a long time. My first memories are with Mechwarrior 31st Century Combat and has been the source of my inspiration. MW2 Mercs campaign in MW5. Really want to see that.
I remember playing Mechwarrior 2: 31st Century Combat in high school on an IBM Aptiva. We eventually got Ghost Bear too. Very fun games.
Awesome, I want to try this out on my weekend. Haven't had any luck getting MW2 Mercs to work on Windows 10 for a while now.
With the vonBiomes Mod, you have a "Retro Pixel Filter" Option in MW5 for the sweet pixel looks :)
(with Mod Options Mod Installed;) Brings also back a little old school feeling, more like Mechwarrior 3.. have a try;)

As a note: There are a few keybinds not quite right, buddy control and map zoom are bugged, but I'll continue to fix some of them.

I'm on Windows 11 and it works like a charm.
Panther's a bit bouncy but then again, she always was.
Hope there something like this for 3 and 4, I remember I had to go through a twenty step guide to play 3 and 4 a couple of years ago.

I would add one recommendation to this video. If you are playing the DOS version of Mech 2 Mercenaries, download and install the version 1.06 patch. It fixes many general bugs and mission bugs throughout the game.

Hey Ray, did you see my comment about using the game's cinematic camera that allows you to attach it to a mech? Instead of using Unreal Engine Unlocker, just press Ctrl + Shift + V in-game and then use your controller to move around, and press Start or Select to attach the camera to the mech you're pointing at.

IMHO, the best way to play mercs, is with the joystick. It’s just better feel than hammering away at a keypad.
if i had a joystick i might agree, but i've never used one for mechwarrior so i don't even know what its' like.
I loved Mech 2 and GBL, but Mercs would always get me with the Comet Defense mission.

Holy cow. A command prompt. Last time I've seen that was in the 90's. With Win 95 & 98, 3.0, 3.1 I was still going out to DOS from time to time. To optimize my config.sys & autoexec.bat files. After subsequent windows, I've stopped using it.
yeah, and I like dosbox though. Glad to use it for old things :)

Do you know how to get to the dosbox prompt screen? There is no blue window which says Welcome to Dosbox and there is no Z:\> prompt. There is a black window that says DosBox Status Window which does not allow me to type anything. There is also a red dosbox window that opens along with it and does nothing at all.
do you have a version for MW2 31st century combat? the normal one, and for ghost bear too
i don't, but i need to open up the file and mess around with it and try to make it.

so, not working quite right for me. every mission that i do it is always failed, even though i completed all objectives. so....? not sure if i am missing something or its borked? still fun though
still have Mech2, Mech 2 ghost bear and Mech2 Mercenaries on disk
will this work if you have the CD?
I don't know because I haven't tried it, but I would hope that it at least would then play the music.
