I recently test drove the HRV and it drove pretty nice. I'm looking to replace my VW Tiguan and I would definitely get an HRV. The only draw back is it doesn't sit as high as a crossover should. It feels more like you're driving a car shaped like an SUV. But that was the only drawback for me at this price range.

Don't get me wrong I love the car but I was used to driving a Toyota Corolla especially when merging on the highway I push on the gas and the acceleration was quick but with the HR-V it's not as quick. I figured because it's a bigger car than what I had maybe that's why but either way I still love my car. The acceleration is not as quick as a Corolla but its definitely better than FORD!
Good car for single young adult. My son just got one to drive back and forth to college. He's 6'4" and wishes for two more inches of driver seat legroom. He felt the same way about the driver's seat in the family's Kia Sorento. If you have a family the CR-V would be a better fit than this HR-V.
I love my HRV. I have a Jeep too and my hrv eats the the Wisconsin snow much better than my Jeep. Only downfall is the ground clearance my jeep is taller.

Hello from Canada. Well I am a Honda fan for the past 30 plus years but my 2016 Honda HR-V is bad quality built. The fog lights lens are filled with some water. The rear doors actuators stop working and the bill is about $750.00 CAD to repair. As of now, the front driver door can not open from outside neither by remote nor sensor on door handle. Bluetooth stop working on android phone but ok with Iphone. The key detecting sensor intermittently display on dash. Car is under power. Last but not least, the day I picked up my HR-V from Honda dealer. The sun roof can not be closed and they have to bring it back inside to fix it before first time drive off the dealer. Will trade it in for new CR-V soon. Still love Honda car. May be it has to do with Mexican built I guess.
Thumbs up on the comment. However, my mom bought a 2018 HRV LX model. She has had the car for 1 year now, and she hasn't had any complaints at all with it. So maybe the Mexican plant got their bugs sorted out. I think you do take more of a risk buying the first year model of any car.
Yeah, you probably got a lemon. I have a 2019 and it run's fine. Was you car under warranty? I don't know where mine was built. Maybe Mexico or japan or the US or Canada.
This was a great review, really helpful, thank you! I had a '99 CRV and I LOOOVED that car. Have a Jeep now, hate it. Going to buy either a CRV or an HRV this year, feeling like the CRV's now are bigger than what I want/need. I'm going to test drive an HRV this weekend now that I've seen this review. Looks like exactly what I need!
CVT transmissions take some getting used to. If you listen @14:33, you’ll expect to hear the typical volume drop and tone change of gears shifting, but it doesn’t happen because of the CVT. If you’re a jack-rabbit start kind of driver, you like to race, or you enjoy driving a manual transmission vehicle, you’ll probably dislike the CVT. If you enjoy a smooth ride and have the patience to get used to it, you might love it as much as I do. I’ve had three vehicles with CVT, but my current one doesn’t have it and I miss it quite a bit. One of the main reasons I’m considering the HR-V is because of the CVT. Good luck!
The HR-V Touring is NICE with the full LED headlights, leather seats, and other bells and whistles, but I prefer the Sport, and plan to get one. Probably in Aegean Blue Metallic. It has bigger, nicer wheels, and the suspension might be more Sport tuned than the others, with the 18" wheels and tires. The Sport ground effects and fender opening surrounds are a nice gloss black. Overall, it is a great value for about $23K, similar to the Civic Sport Sedan. This HR-V Sport should come with that Civic 2.0L Non Turbo with about 20 more HP. It would be nice if the rear hatch chrome emblems were smoke tint like the hatch trim strip and front grille piece. The last thing I wish it had was the CD player they used to have available in the older HR-V. The new radio is updated, and upgraded, but still has the blank strip above the touch screen where the CD slot was on those models.
Car Play in 2019. Took way too long. The Civic got it 3 years ago, and even that was late. Same for the Fit. Love that exterior color. I wonder if the most popular/boring colors are so because they’re on the lot more

@@shyb3rt Yes, those will last longer but before you buy MAKE SURE you have a compression test done for each cylinder to see if the engine is strong or has major wear or damage.

Honda needs to either give us a 1.5 turbo or a 2.0 dohc dual cam lobe(without the 3rd lobe for vtec) for this car. The euro version of the hrv already had the 1.5t, while were stuck with the 1.8 sohc. This thing is just not making enough paowa baby.
