Did you know that this THX trailer went controversial because movie theaters wrote a complaint about their sound systems being damaged due to this THX trailer
I recall seeing this before “The Little Mermaid” began at a local Cinemark In TX. If I could remember, it was this version, although it also could’ve been the original. Idk
there is another scan of this trailer with the james horner music uploaded by sebastian segura but it's an early 90s mix in spectral recording format with a shirt orchestral warm up, no additional sound effects and there's no buzzing like the one heard here.
Notice how the Dolby Digital stamp in the lower left corner has a different stability to the rest of the frame. Perhaps the original had the Dolby Spectral Recording notice or nothing whatsoever.
I can understand why you held this one back for a long time. There doesn't seem to be anything substantially different to what is already available online. Well to be honest, we get a really cool open matte of the trailer. You could make a cool 16:9 crop out of it.
Hey, Jonathan Froes. I really please wanna see Animaniacs theatrical animated musical short, "I'm Mad" with original theatrical open and end title cards in 35mm in HD widescreen, as originally shown in movie theaters before Don Bluth's Thumbelina (1994).
@@jonathanfroes8189 It's been, what, a 5-year time gap between this comment and yours? I mean, I know you may still be busy with some *rather important* tasks, and not to mention the recording found by magicfly2001 (which has been a *huge* help, might I add), but at this rate, the fans might lose their patience and seek it out to no avail. If you're *still* doing okay, please give us a sign that you're *ready* to confirm what we've hoped for. Until then, I'll be willing to wait forever and a day. *Solidarity, my audio-technical brethren.* -Harold M.
I Suppose this is from a mid 90s print around the time that this trailer was mixed for dolby 5.1. I am still waiting for someone to upload the original version (With Descending synth notes) and a different wormhole sequence tune. If you have that version with the descending synth notes, then let me know OK Jonathan Froes.
@@DawdletheGhostYT Haha! HAHA!! You're right it's first appearance was the Broadway version back in 1983 when Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi came into theaters.
Shame THX died out and became a shitty gaming brand. There are one or two THX Ultimate cinema theaters around, but I guess it got made obsolete by the fact that most theaters optimise for sound and that there's so many premium brands such as IMAX and Dolby Cinema around now.
Even if this isn't the original print, it's good to know someone has been holding the rarest of THX snipes in film format. :)
Po Kamnuandej it's not the original version but I do have it...eventually I'll upload it with the original 6 track sound
Jonathan Froes That would be cool. ^^
Jonathan Froes Probably the original version is what us film maniacs seek after the most. Haha

@@yaritzaperezsantiago6349 Eh just wait I'm sure he's got it coming it's that he's been busy
The best THX logo ever.
My favorite one too 🤩
The best and my favorite!
Did you know that this THX trailer went controversial because movie theaters wrote a complaint about their sound systems being damaged due to this THX trailer
Is THAT why it was lost? Hmm…
Fact: This is the only Pre-Tex one without the deep note
Well, Grand also didn’t have the Deep Note
It gives a subwoofer a good workout!
@@theark-la-missrailfan the deep note May not exist but the audio rising always marks it as a deep note ven tho it’s not
@@theark-la-missrailfan
Technically it does have the Deep Note, but it is actually more a choir-like version of it
The music of THX Cimarron was composed by the late James Horner, Ron Howard's collaborator.
Toronto had the first THX cinema in Canada and I can remember the audience applauding after each THX demo. Only way to watch and hear movies.
How [Dolphin Noise]ing you are! I miss the Logo:(

The beginning part of this THX trailer sounds like the PS3 boot up sound and the end part is like the PS2 RSOD
0:12 it looks, and sounds like something you would see and hear out of Star Wars, that’s classic Lucasfilm for you

Awesome
Now it's confirmed that Cimarron is officially my favorite THX trailer next to Broadway DVD.
Imagine seeing this in an IMAX theater.
There's something special about those chimes at the end.
Epic Johnathan Froes
Long live the king. James Horner!
I think the sound effects were designed by Skywalker Sound.
Almost definitely was. This was made when THX was still part of Lucasfilm.
Cimarron (1988) is one of my favorite THX trailers alongside Tex (1996) and Grand (1993)
I PREFER THIS VERSION THAN THE ORIGINAL
I like this Cimarron.
do you have the THX moo can in 35mm?

No.

Probably nothing.
What's with the buzzing sounds that can be heard for a fraction of a second?
Probably an audible changeover warning.
Glitch, maybe?
It's just a corruption audio.

Don't worry, you'll get it. By the way, is this is the original version or the Dolby Digital version of THX Cimarron trailer?
the 35mm version of the trailer is the open-matte version. the 70mm version is in a scope ratio.
