Universal Child Benefit Programme - Kajiado, Kisumu and Embu Counties

Save the Children, in collaboration with UNICEF and WFP, implemented the Universal Child Benefit (UCB) as part of a child grant pilot. The UCB was designed as a safety net cash transfer program, targeting 8,300 households across Kisumu, Embu, and Kajiado Counties.
Save the Children Italy and other donors, along with the Ministry of Labour and Social Services and the Ministry of Health, supported the project. Over a twelve-month period, bi-monthly cash transfers were distributed to households, with the program also incorporating nutrition support, positive parenting, and disability inclusion services.
