I've always been confused when i see people use the word homely in this way, just looked it up. ah, contradicting definitions! In American English, "homely" means plain, simple, or unattractive. It's often used as a polite way of saying someone is not beautiful. In British English, "homely" means "cozy and homelike". "Homey" is the American English equivalent of "homely". "Homey" means feeling like home.
I love your shirt!! I love Strawberry Shortcake!! I grew up with her. I use to have shortcake everything 😀 lunch box, dolls, curtains and bed spreads you name it!
Your set up is so cozy and cute! I love how you have made your space so homey. Just a question...do you use a storage locker for any other of your belongings or is everything you own with you at all times? I am seriously considering this life-style to save $ and I'm not sure if I can part with the few belongings that I still have. I lived full time in a mini bus, but I am going to sell it and buy an SUV. How do you handle hot summers at night in your living space? Thanks for opening up your home and sharing it with all of us!
Thank you! I don’t have a storage locker. Most of my belongings are in my car with me, aside from a few large tupperware bins which are kept with a family member. This past summer I stayed cool by being in the PNW where it doesn’t get too hot, and I spent most of my nights in the mountains where the weather is cooler. Also I have a usb rechargeable fan that helped in the hot nights, as well as swimming in a lake or stream in the evening to cool down. In terms of letting go of things I found that the more I got rid of the better I felt, and I haven’t missed anything I gave away or sold. I also gave myself permission to keep things I wasn’t ready to part with, or that I thought I might use in the near future. It helped me to spend some time preparing and to ease into this lifestyle by doing part time car life for awhile to see what I really needed. It’s been a great way to cut down on bills although it can be challenging at times. I wish you all the best!
Cool... van life is fun I like it as long as we have people to talk to it’s a good thing... I got so used to living simple that as soon as I begin to notice that I have too much stuff I’m like uh oh gotta give some of this away lol... it’s it hilarious how much stuff we seem to collect out of nowhere? I literally gave all of my belongings away just to see what happened and then next thing you know people give you things and you collect things again and then in like two seconds you have a bunch of stuff again haha life is amazing when you actually have the time to enjoy it fully.
It’s true!! Stuff accumulates so quickly.. I like having limited space because it helps create awareness about the material things I think I need. I love the decluttering days- which I never thought I would still have living in a vehicle! 😂 I agree.. life IS amazing!
a great set-up, you inspire me to start something. i have a cadillac srx which is about the same size as your vehicle. one day i will get the courage to start the van life...on my bucket list for sure as i love to travel .
This is really cozy set up,mine is very boring in comparison but I only use it in summer and I only have hatchback..I have bed with just a folding chair for table but I do have fairly lights and blackout thermal wrap window cover with material on one side..O and blackout curtains on pole to separate front from back,I would show you put don't think it's possible on hear
Loos way more pro than my setup... 😂 😂 I just have a small IKEA shoe rack, and some bins for bulk storage, and a Lowe's bucket I use for all of my kitchen. 😂
I usually urban camp very stealth but this morning I woke up and I couldn’t even leave my car for hours and hours because the two businesses that I thought were closed for the weekend opened and we’re doing all this stuff so it prevented me to just climb out of the car it was crazy so I thought stuck trapped Has that ever happened to you?
That has! Once I woke up to be surrounded by construction trucks lol people were coming and going and getting stuff from their cars. I just waited until it looked like nobody was paying attention and I hopped into the front seat and drove away. I don’t usually exit from the car in a situation I’m trying to be stealth in. Are you able to climb from the back to the front? Also those are the times when it’s good to have some sort of emergency plan if you can’t get a bathroom when you thought!
Thank you! 💖 The curtain in the front is on a tension rod. I used little screw-in hooks in the headliner and looped string around them- and the ends of the tension rod sit on that string loop.. and for the curtain in the back I used more little screw-in hooks and used string to create like a clothesline and I cut small slits in the fabric and wove that string through before hanging it up. For the other windows it’s reflectix and I glued black fleece on one side and tree fabric on the other. I hope that helps- 🤔 maybe I could make a video about them.
I took out one of the backs of the backseat. There’s one that’s maybe two thirds the width that I removed and left the other smaller piece to use as a regular seat. Also I got a piece of plywood cut at Home Depot to sleep on which made a nice flat surface. 😊
Thankfully I don’t have back problems! I’ve found that having a comfortable bed with a solid platform has helped a lot, as well as staying active and relatively fit to keep my back healthy. I would love to be able to stand up but I use my car for doordashing as well as living in so I have to take gas $ into consideration. I hope you find just the right vehicle! ✨
I want to live in a car/van to save money. Beautiful. Im 57 years old. I have a son who lives with his Dad and I want to help him through college...I have a need to help my kids...it helps me to help them. I need that worse than a house or things. Except crystals and rocks...I need those...lol
I took the second row of seats out and the third row folds flat. Do you have a Honda Pilot? I definitely recommend taking the second row out if possible
May I suggest a rosemary plant because mosquitoes hate rosemary. I lived this way for 9 years I believe God watches over us in a special way, my experience.
So the third row is folded down flat and the second row has been removed. I have a piece of plywood that rests on the flat surface of the third row and is held up by some plastic bins under the part where the second row seats were. That leaves space for my little kitchen area, which uses the space where the second row seat was… that was a lot of info lol but hopefully it is helpful!
I ordered it from Amazon- they have quite a few to chose from. Let me know if you would like the specific link and I think I can put it here in a comment ✨

She meant homey. People get confused by homely a lot x@@ellemeno0

I think I’ve seen those ikea shoe racks! They’re great! Your set up sounds cool too- simple and efficient ✨
Love the Strawberry Shortcake. ❤
Yes! Strawberry shortcake is AMAZING! 😍
Hi, just found you!
How do you decide where to spend the night
I usually urban camp very stealth but this morning I woke up and I couldn’t even leave my car for hours and hours because the two businesses that I thought were closed for the weekend opened and we’re doing all this stuff so it prevented me to just climb out of the car it was crazy so I thought stuck trapped Has that ever happened to you?

Very nice video ,how are your travels going now
They’re going well, thank you!
I love your curtains! How did you install ? ❤
Did you take any seats out? Wondering how the bed is flat. 😊
I took out one of the backs of the backseat. There’s one that’s maybe two thirds the width that I removed and left the other smaller piece to use as a regular seat. Also I got a piece of plywood cut at Home Depot to sleep on which made a nice flat surface. 😊
I love strawberry shortcake too.
Love the old strawberry shortcake 😱
Me too! I love her soo much! 💖the OG 80’s strawberry shortcake… She’s so sweet and so wise 🍓🥰
looks cosy ! I'm looking into rigs lately and i was wondering if not being able to stand up in your car causes back problems ?
Thankfully I don’t have back problems! I’ve found that having a comfortable bed with a solid platform has helped a lot, as well as staying active and relatively fit to keep my back healthy. I would love to be able to stand up but I use my car for doordashing as well as living in so I have to take gas $ into consideration. I hope you find just the right vehicle! ✨
Hi, does everything fall around when you drive? The water cooler doesn’t fall over?
I want to live in a car/van to save money. Beautiful. Im 57 years old. I have a son who lives with his Dad and I want to help him through college...I have a need to help my kids...it helps me to help them. I need that worse than a house or things. Except crystals and rocks...I need those...lol
You can do it! It definitely saves a lot on housing costs.
Cant beat a Honda!
Very nice lady
Did you take backseats out? I’m not getting how you have all that room that’s flat my seats fold down but they’re high up when you fall them down.
🤔 good idea! Thank you 😊 and I agree ☝️✨
How did you hang your lights? I’m always curious about that.
I used these little gold hooks that look kind of like safety pins. I think they are from Amazon. I can attach the link.
Sink? TOILET? Looks cute, but I gotta have some kind of camping toilet.
Do you seats in a back lie flat or do they stow away?
So the third row is folded down flat and the second row has been removed. I have a piece of plywood that rests on the flat surface of the third row and is held up by some plastic bins under the part where the second row seats were. That leaves space for my little kitchen area, which uses the space where the second row seat was… that was a lot of info lol but hopefully it is helpful!
Do u have a fire extinguisher? Do u even need one??
I don’t have one but that’s a really smart idea!
So, no generator?
No generator. Since making this video I have gotten a solar panel and a battery bank which has really helped with keeping lights and my phone charged.
Where did u get that decal on ur back window?
I ordered it from Amazon- they have quite a few to chose from. Let me know if you would like the specific link and I think I can put it here in a comment ✨
