  • This is Part 1 in a series of videos I'm making for finishing this smoothbore musket kit. As it turns out, this kit is actually an Armi Sport M1842 Springfield. Armi Sport was sold to Chiappa and the kit is distributed in the US by Traditions.

    I have one of these. Over the years i swapped out parts for original parts. Nowadays, the only reproduction parts are the barrel , the internal lock parts and the wooden stock. The original lock plate is a Harper's Ferry lock plate date stamped 1844. When i bought mine, it does not have all of the modern markings on the barrel, except it does have the modern I.D. number on the left side of the breech and every other markings are of Harper's Ferry arsenal.
