John Joel Glanton was a real piece of work. One of the worst in an era of bad men. Anyway, how about hitting that subscribe button?
Josh my man, you made it again! Glanton and Kirker appear by McMurtry too and are worse than bad. There is a old east german movie named just Apaches which was succesfull all over the world but never in the english tongue and Glanton was the bad guy by other name..Yuma never get along with Apache. God's Blessings to you and yours from Northern Germany Ludwig.
@@ludwigderzanker9767 Thanks! I remember Kirker in Dead Man's Walk but I don't recall Glanton showing up in McMurtry's work. Do you remember which book?
Vol . One, Dead Mans Walk, Gus beats Glanton with his Walker off the horse. Before Buffalo Hump came to visit the "army "...And Kicking Wolf had a long funny time with one of the scalpers, I forgot which one. L.
@@ludwigderzanker9767 thanks!
I kinda model myself after him so if you could pipe down a bit on the legend that would be nice.
Your delivery flawless brother and as a proud member of the Mohawk Nation I appreciate how you take the time to preface your stories without dogma. I find your telling of events to be genuine in both spirit and intention and I believe that is why you are so entertaining.
Thank you brother, I look forward to the next installment 🍻
Thank you!
Great observation. Josh does a great job of storytelling. While for the most part unbiased, stating facts that his research reveals. This is quite refreshing in our times.
@@michaelthomson8065 agreed 👍🏻 merry Christmas 🎅
@@WildWestExtravaganza Merry Christmas brother!,
Excellent show. Just shows you help a person you will be repaid. Just a great story.
Very true
Thank you Josh Merry Christmas
Same to you!
I read ‘Blood Meridian’ 40 years ago. Strange book, but with plenty of realism.
I’m going to have to pull it back off the bookshelf. I very rarely read fiction but I’m about to finish Alamo Traces and when I read Blood Meridian previously I was drunk and can’t distinguish it from Texas Blood. Ironically the author of Texas Blood claims to longtime family ownership of the vast property described in the opening of Cormick McCarthy‘s novel “no country for old men” where Llewellyn was hunting and found more than he wanted. Now I’m going to have to read all three again. "Blood Meridian, No Country For Old Men, and Texas Blood”. I think hodges wrote Texas Blood.
Read it twice crazy book crazy lives back the
This is my favorite book. I read it in high school and Ive always wanted to learn more about Glanton and the Glanton gang.
I can’t recommend Blood Meridian enough
It's one of the greats
@@WildWestExtravaganza Indeed!
What a great surprise, a great way to end the day.
Glad you're here
Seriously one of the best channels on UA-cam
Many thanks
Another great episode Josh. Thank you for you efforts. Have a great holiday season. At least take some rest even if you're dropping a new episode next week.
Yes sir, thank you
Always looking forward to your Chanel..thanks and have a Merry Christmas.
Merry Christmas
Wow! Talk about a last second
reprieve! We never know how just 1 small act of kindness might manifest itself at some future appointment with fate! Great video Josh!
Never know
All the best things happen on Christmas day - my birthday being one of them! 🤣
Happy holidays Josh, to you and everyone who watches your channel!! 🎉🙏🇬🇧❤️
Happy birthday & Merry Christmas
@@WildWestExtravaganza Thanks a lot Josh, much appreciated! 🙏🇬🇧
Whipple was the don't squeeze the Charmin guy as i recall
Stoked for a Christmas upload from you Josh! Many thanks for the time and efforts to entertain your fan base! Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!
Thanks, same to you!
One of his ancestors cautioned women against squeezing the charmin. Sorry couldn’t resist.
I actually understand this reference from a book!
@@WildWestExtravaganza it’s a shame you never got to see the commercials.
@@dannysimmons3167I've seen them on UA-cam
@@WildWestExtravaganza the other two I thought were entertaining and a bit stupid were we need more calgon, and the Palmolive commercials. That blabber mouth in the dry cleaners giving away secrets, and Madge having a bowl of dish detergent for people to plop down and stick their hands in. Enough of a rant for now, merry Christmas.
I should’ve said descendants. Make more sense
This is one that is so hard to believe and just shows how small of a world it is.
Been waiting on this please keep making them
I'm trying
My favorite part of this story is how Glanton got his comeuppance. My understanding is that the same Chief who Glanton had beaten up, after determining to get deadly revenge, was invited in for a drink by Glanton himself. Why did Glanton do this? I don’t know but ckearly he was not a deep thinker. But after seeing Glanton and his men fall asleep, the Chief bashed Glanton’s head in with a club. The world is hard, but some people don’t make it any easier on themselves and actions can have consequences.
Regardless, this is a good story. I’m really glad I stumbled across this channel and look forward to new tales and listening to past vids. (I’m almost done with your Bridger series)
Cheers
Where did you hear that detail about Glanton ? He’s quite difficult to find information on .
@@PeriodDrama I read about in the book When The Great Spirit Died by William Secrest. It’s a super short paragraph or two, but second favorite part about this story is that the “revenge” party grew so large and was so costly, the fledgling State of California nearly went bankrupt AND it didn’t produce any results because the Chief and his men escaped “punishment”.
Just wanted to comment and say thank you, and I think you do a great job and it is very appreciated by this busted up old grunt.
Merry Christmas good sir.
Thank you right back and merry Christmas
Really enjoying the addition of pictures. The guy on the left at 7:11 fascinates me.
I really like that picture too even though those men weren't Yuma. I thought it was such a cool photo that I couldn't resist using it.
Good Stuff! Keep up the good work looking forward for next episode
More to come!
3:18...R. Lee Ermey! 🤣 Merry Christmas 👍🍻
Dang it man you do some nice work! Hope you and yours have a merry Christmas and a happy new year.

Merry Christmas all you listeners of the tales that make table top role playing look tame.
Same to you!
How surreal to go from having 1000 people on the precipice of killing you, then having a feast/celebration just moments later. Nuts.
Great story.
Great story! One of your best!
Thanks for listening
0:31 ... 😊 took a while to get over Monday's drop. 👏

It’s worth a read for sure
Excellent

Hell yes!
Love the catch-all farewell that includes the #flyingspaghettimonster in the sky ❤❤❤
This was another great episode Josh. I learned a few things about Yuma history today. Personally i am looking forward to receiving coal for Christmas utility prices being what they are.
Happy Spaghetti Monster in the Sky to You and Your Family Also.
Haha glad you liked it
Is it safe to assume that Mr Whipple did not squeeze the Charmin?
I wouldn't put it past him
Why I believe you started this episode with a quote from the Judge in McCarthy's Blood Meridian.
I reckon its fitting.
Edit: I declare, I wrote this utterance before seeing you acknowledge this fact. Apologies.
Greetings from Apacheria in the Arizona Territories ahe'hye'e
It's an undertaking I wouldn't necessarily recommend, but you reading Blood Meridian to us on your channel would be pretty amazing. Merry Christmas, Josh!
How do ya git promoted from Lt. Col to Major ??
No idea, is that what I said? He was promoted to Major General on his deathbed.

Blood meridian now tthat is a brutal book to read.
Brutal and brilliant
@WildWestExtravaganza it is Definitely brilliant. never read any book like it before. It definitely shows the reality And brutality Possible from man.
Somebody held me at gun point last week over a GLO monument. Thank God for his wife. I don't think this old boy was joking.
That's not good
See the child...
I enjoy your videos but I find it a tad off putting when you use modern slang in a video about historical events . Making bank sounds ridiculous in this video and at all other times to be honest . Cheers from Australia and I sincerely hope you have a great Christmas .
I'm not even sure if Australia is a real country Keith
@@WildWestExtravaganza according to the international freedom index it’s a real country . Australia is eighth on the index and the USA is seventeenth .
Not free to own a gun, or refuse the Vax.🙄
@@tonystoops7802 you are wrong on both counts . Typical uneducated statement made by an I’ll informed American .
