Hey Warren, a good soure for pre - and postwar parts is Jeff Kane at the Train Tender. He has the parts to replace the individual pieces or the entire pickup roller assembly. I believe he's in New York. Parts are very reasonable. The last I knew, he was having problems with getting the brushes, but other than that, he has a good selection of parts.

I have dealt with the Train Tender before and I really like them. Maybe I'll look into that.

We manufacture new parts for the older engines at Henning's trains.
We make new roller pickups just like the original ones.
We also make the new lighs that someone put on it and also new wheels if you ever need them.

Thanks for watching! And that is a brilliant suggestion! Then again I may have to change it once more if I work on some MPC Era stuff Pre-Post-MPC Guy. I don't think that would fit well on a T-shirt!

Great job on that 254 Warren! I'm not into Pre-War's myself but I did pick up a 259e and some assorted cars at a local show that was too well-priced and too cute to pass up. It's a fun runner that comes out at Christmas time.
BUT if I EVER get a 254 like yours now I'll know just what to do to keep it alive!
Should you keep that 254? For now. No reason not to have fun with it and if you get tired of it you can always flip it at a show.
Great show as always, thanks for posting!

I kept saying I wasn't going to get into the Prewar stuff, but when its the right price, decent shape and complete it gets hard to pass up. Thanks for watching!

Great job Warren. I think you should hold onto it, but that’s just my opinion.

    Love the old tinplate!

Very nice. Generally I find good luck hitting pickup rollers with my Dremel using a scotchbrite type pad, and lubricating the roller axle with a tiny drop of conductive oil.

It might be the last Prewar. Then again I said about the one before this so, who knows.

Sweet 254, is it Olive or Mojave? I wash my brushes in Dawn and warm water. I have 2 253's that need some attention, this video will definitely help. I also have a 254 and her baby sister, the 252. I've been into pre-war for almost a year now, love the challenge of getting them back on the rails.

Thanks for watching John. I'm going to say its Olive. It looks Olive to me. Thanks for the tip using Dawn on the brushes. Personally I stay away from using water with any of the motor parts. 253 is a great little Prewar loco. I had one, heres its video: ua-cam.com/video/pD7On8TJhOA/v-deo.html
