  • Some thing that I always look forward to in the month of September right here in the city of Toronto is Ganesh Visarjan -- the annual celebration where by a the murti of Lord Ganesh is immersed into water after puja is done starting on Ganesh Chaturthi and lasting for approximately 11 days.
Joining in and participating in Hindu festivals makes you a part of the community -- it gives you that shared sense of identity which is MUCH needed when growing up as a Hindu in North America. Creating a Hindu identity is not only an individual effort, but also a collective of the community.
I want to share with you some of the highlights of our own Ganesh Visarjan procession held right here in the city of Toronto. If you enjoy my videos, please remeber to share with your friends and family and subscribe to my channel if you haven't already done so.

Excellent work, and we are happy that Ganesh Visarjan is now celebrated worldwide and especially in our own lakes in Ontario, Canada.

    I am hindu
    It just worries me
    Is this all ecofriendly
    Are noise levels managed
I hope we don't pollute the water bodies like back home

I live near this beach and the bench is on a strip of land separated from the rest of the neighborhood by a marsh so noise really isn't an issue unless it's like a rock concert. There was an immersion this morning a neighbor saw it while jogging, people in their homes were not bothered by the sound. I also know that businesses sell eco friendly idols in the city. I actually FOUND a ganesh idol while swimming today, I thought a child had lost something from the bright colours and picked it up, some kids swimming near by seen the brightly coloured object in the water earlier but couldn't move it and they wanted to see what it was, so I showed it to them, explained that it was the Hindu God Ganesh they took a picture and we decided it should go back into the lake so I swam it out into the water.
