THANK YOU!!!! Oh my God that stupid bit that won't come out!!!!!!!!!! How the hell can such an expensive vacuum cleaner have such a stupid bit in it. I don't even see what the hell the good of it is except for dust to get stuck up the side of, which necessitates you getting it out to clean it. And the way you have to shove it back in again looks for sure like the plastic bit that it shoves into isn't going to last that long. Anyway thank you so much for solving this problem.

I use a toothbrush to dry brush between the filters fins and tap the filter to further give up the dust.

Hi Gina! These units have a sensor that detects airflow restriction. This is intended to detect when the fine dust filter (the removable / washable filter) has clogged up enough that not enough airflow can pass through it. Once the air passes through the fine dust filter, it goes though the motor and then through an internal hepa exhaust filter. This allows the motor to be cooled with clean air. So, it means the fine dust filter is clogged up and needs washed. If it can’t get air through it 1.) the motor isn’t able to cool and the suction is also limited. So this feature lets the user know that the airflow is so restricted that the motor isn’t able to cool. It will try to clean itself with a popping sound (sounds like popcorn), wherein it flicks particles off of the fine dust filter. It will turn itself off to do this for 15 seconds and then turn back on. Did you wash the filter under cold water (and nothing but water) and the other parts and dry them completely? Once you reassembled it and used it, did it continue to turn off?

If you want to post your zip code, I can find the closest authorized Miele dealer you have near you. I’ll post the information here. This is if you feel like you need to take it in. The filter is designed to be washed routinely once a month or so. How long did you have it before it started turning itself off?
