I just love in depth motherboard reviews!! Awesome job as always TTL An awesome board I really like this black edition, but still prefer the X99 Deluxe (1) Hope the Deluxe 2 video is coming soon
All the pictures I've seen of this motherboard makes it appear as if the PCIe clips are a translucent blue. But in this video I can't tell, are they translucent gray, or blue? Anyone know?
you said there's only one USB 2.0 internal but if it has been done the same way as on the original rampage V you can use the rog_ext as a USB 2.0 (at 20:30 we can see that the right part of the ROG_EXT has the same pin out as a USB 2.0, and i've checked it in my rampage V manual it's a USB 2.0) ;)
Why does the Asus SupremeFX audio manager not come with jack re-tasking?? You would think that if you bought a $300+ mobo you would be able to use the rear jacks with headphones and speakers at the same time..
what is the hub regarding to the internal usb2 headers are referring to Tom? i just bought a rampage ed 10 and if i wanted to use the dac i wont have space for a h100i v2 can you help please?
Hi Tom, when do you think the full review will be out, I cant wait, I love all your videos been watching this channel for so long now. I do miss the old 1 hour case reviews tho, keep it up :)
where and what is the corsair hub ?? I have this board and need one. I'm using the H110i and be quiet case and have run out of usb2.0 inputs. How can I fix this and where do I get one. Great review thanks guys
hey so i watche the asus rampage edition twn video just bought it got it installed did all the driver and utility updates then out of nowhere the whole thing went power out like it just gave up the ghost when i have the 28 pin power connector plugged in i get a little red flashing light right behind the usb ports on the board wont post no fans no flashy changy colors just door nail stiff dead tried cmos battery swith tright cmos reset also cmos channel swith nothing any ideas on what to do?????
The specification you wrote of this DAC is way better than the Creative X7 you reviewed btw, But these are only numbers cant wait for you to try and say your opinion in the full review.
Tim, i'm using this motherboard with 1 gtx 1080, an i7 6800k, and an intel 750. When I enable the u.2 port, it cuts pcie lane 1 down to x8. There is definitely enough bandwidth to handle the card at x16. Am I missing something, or is this just poor design? I'll appreciate any insight you can give.
I have this but it's annoying because the volume knob of the SupremeFX HiFi DAC prevents me from closing the front panel of my Phanteks Enthoo Primo, is there any custom volume knobs I can get that will let me close the panel, thanks
Great video. In your video, you mentioned 3 usb 3.0 ports on the back IO but there are actually 4 3.0's. Other than that, can't wait to see it running in full swing. Now since I'll be using dual 1080's, will I still need to use the additional GPU power pin on the bottom of the board since I will be overclocking the GPU's. And I will be using the Corsair RM850i with this mobo. Is there anything I should know about this also?
Do you have THIS motherboard? The rampage v edition 10? If so then it should have came with it. I just got my board today and it had the fan header card in the box with all the accessories. I don't think you can buy it separately at this time though. You might see people selling a few of them on ebay eventually though.
+TheScaleless no, my problem is that I've had my motherboard for two years and this was an advertised feature that it was compatible with this, but had to be purchased separately. so I don't wanna hear "but do you have this board" because when a company advertises something that virtually doesn't exist, that's false advertising
Thanks for the overview. I saw this board earlier this week and will be most likely buying this board next month. My only complaint is that it doesn't utilize all 40 PCI lanes, like the MSI Godlike (x16,x16,x8). I plan on only using two boards at x16 each, but wish it would be x16,x16,x8 instead of x16,x8,x8. Other than that it looks like a great board, and I plan to make good use of all the features.
Bah 1080 was enough of that mess. The others are just the same thing but slower. The Titan I will want to see though. This MB I want to buy just don't know if it's worth going from the X99 Sabertooth or not, gotta see all the dings and whistles ya know.
As for as I know, this board launched after Broadwell-E CPUs. So you should be fine without flashing new bios. Even if you need to flash it, you can use USB BIOS flash function to flash it without Haswell-E CPU.
I definitely need more than a single USB 2 header, so what is the Corsair USB hub you mentioned? I've found an internal expander from NZXT that appears to be really popular, and thinking of getting it. Thoughts?
Hi , Great Video.!! I wanting to know if I can use my old CPU on this System Board ( Intel Core i7-3970X Extreme Edition Sandy Bridge-E 3.5GHz (4.0GHz Turbo).
any one can confirm that if i used the slot 4 pci last one it will disable the m.2 drive? cause i want to sli a zotac 1080 ti when it come out but it is a 2.5 card and i need all the room for air cooling and dont like cards being all close together
I recently ordered this motherboard for my new PC, and I was wondering if it's possible to use an Intel 750 PCIe SSD as my boot drive. And if so, can I use that SSD with GTX 1080s in SLI?
Completely off topic, but; Your intro puts THX to shame. I had to stop various objects on my desk from flying off it, after starting your video. Thats when you know its gonna be good. ;-)
Can it be established in Japanese at the time of BIOS setting of the motherboard? I think I'll sell them by Japan, import it by an individual and buy it.
huh... still blows my mind that my evga z87 classified comes with 2 8 pin eps connectors and a 6 pin for the pci slots yet it only has one usb 3 slot and 1 usb 2 slot lol. obviously they had one idea for this board
It is :) I just got mine today! Need more TIM though as i ran out. So i can't use it till tomorrow afternoon when my Cool Laboratory LIquid Copper thermal paste arrives.
+TheScaleless I am going to buy it too, but I need to wait till it will be available in Poland I would like to run i7 5820k on it with gelid gc extreme and Fortis 3 from SilentiumPC :)
Jakub Bitner please dont, the 5820K doesnt uses all the pci express lanes! It uses only 24 instead of 40! If you want to really use the full power of this Board, you should own either a 5930K, 5960K, 6850K, 6900K and the 6950K! This Board is really ment to be used by those top processors! My advice for you, if you already have that processors, then buy either a 300 euro Board or dont buy anything, if you already have a X99 Motherboard with the 2011-3
Hiya TTL could you plz state socket, ram and so on in start of rewiew. Waited a LONG time to find out its not for my 6700k cpu, sadly. Great unboxing vids, enjoyed it almost as much at the vlog picking up the new gtx1080.
But would the ram be ok straight out of the box, or do i have to do the XMP thing first? And also don't i have to update the bois on the board also?, which i can do with just the board and a usb stick
Actually most mid towers CAN fit an E-ATX board in it. You just don't screw in a coupld of the rightmost screws in some cases. Back when i got my old Rampage IV Black Edition X79 board (also E-ATX) i was waiting for my Caselabs SMA8 supertower case to be custom ordered, so all i had was a cheapo $30 NZXT Source 210 mid tower. I managed to fit the Rampage IV Black Edition in it just fine!
lol, i know! I was like WTF are you talking about, i just got mine today in the mail! How is it "not out yet" lol. I know a few people on overclock.net who have one too! It was for sale on newegg back at May 17th, then on June 10th, and on June 17th, and is for sale now on newegg too!
Um....this board launched in mid May. What are you talking about? I know like 5 people on OCN who have these boards. They've been in stock on newegg off and on about four times in the last month. I just got mine from Fedex today. FANTASTIC board! Cant wait to try it when my Cool Laboratory Liquid Copper TIM arrives tomorrow.
Will have this MotherBoard very soon along with a 6800k cpu, & Dominator Platinum Series 32GB. plus SAMSUNG 850 PRO 4TB SSD cards in raid 0. with a GTX 1080 G1 WindForce GPU, ALL hardline water cooled.. Can't wait!!!!
hey no offense or anything related to that, but are you impersonating rick and morty from the Rick and Morty show on adult swim XD, anyway love the review and if you are impersonating them that's a big plus XD
I disagree with you on the M.2 location Tom, I like between the slots along with another, easier to access location. A board like this should have at least two m.2 along with 1+ u.2 IMO. I'm fully with you on the public bios front however, respect to you on that front if it ends up delaying a video a few days and you miss the initial rush of viewers. That's about it (other than, LOL @ patent pending a fixed I/O shield) :)
x99 is starting to show its age, so you are unlikely to see multiple M.2 (NVMe) slots PLUS U.2. Each one is 4 PCIe lanes. There's a number of problems with M.2 located between the PCIe slots, though. One, it's hard to access the slot if you've got water blocks attached to your GPUs. The NVMe M.2 drives I've seen get pretty damned hot, and will start thermal throttling. At the location ASUS put it, it's a bit easier for air to flow over it, and you can attach heatsinks without interference from any PCIe cards.
Yea, I hear ya Robert Potter, everything's been made out of date with the leap in storage speeds and price falls (yet stuck with small(ish) capacities), suddenly multiple NVMe drives are realistic at the 'enthusiast' level but they need soooo muuucchhh PCI-E it's basically ANOTHER box ticked on the sheet for 'We need to rethink all of this shit'. Just not sure if enough companies who truly being in inovation and progress to come together to re-write our old ass, out-dated standards.
And for what are you actually want to use those two M.2 slots for? Only if you're running databases or are copying a lot of files, in practice M.2 drives perform the same as their SATA counterparts. The random seek time is the same, the big difference are the transfer speeds. Good luck finding programs that can produce more than 550MB/s of data. Games usually consist of a lot of smaller files. That is why the majority of people don't notice any difference when they upgrade from an SATA SSD to an NVME SSD drive.. But M.2 drives are a good way to tidy up a board. But I do keep having those flashbacks to the expansion port pcb games for the C64. Instead of loading them from tape or disk, it would boot directly from the expansion port. A few years later came the power cartridges.. And Ironicly people start hooking up their TV again to their computer and use steam in BigBox mode. It's funny how history keeps repeating itself..
You partly answered your own question there 2Fast4Mellow, they're smaller, tidier and require less material. The bit you didn't mention was the multi-tasking performances. It's understandable, reviewers almost exclusively talk about performance on fresh systems doing single tasks and therefore conclude that performance has barely moved in the past few years (they're not entirely wrong and I fully understand the limited testing methodology), but for even the non tech enthusiasts these days, we have our systems performing a bunch of things at the same time, the older and messier our systems get, the more exaggerated the effect. Sure, without performing some pretty hefty tasks (the heaviest I'd do is recording twitch streams whilst downloading some files and maybe un/raring something at the same time, all stuff that a decent HDD could handle, but who wants that noise and unreliability? So if you're getting SSDs anyway, may as well get ones that likely to still offer decent performance in 10 years when they finally die given the pretty small difference now in price¯\_(ツ)_/¯
This would result in the m.2. getting too hot from the video cards. Might be fine if you ran this board since most people will put waterblocks on them anyways if they have a rampage v edition 10, but I still prefer their current location. Should be in front of the 24 pin power connector, though (in my opinion at least).
Thank you for taking the time to show and tell us what each part of the board is. Please continue to do this.
best most objective most in depth tech reviewer in my opinion keep up the great job
Mine will be here tomorrow!! I cannot wait!!! Thank you for posting this review I have been waiting forever!!
What's crazy is I was pouring coffee as I was watching, so when you said "get a hot brew on the go" it tripped me out.
Thanks for the preview Tom, I'm really liking the 'Black Edition' styling, will be very interested to see the built rig and the built in LED features.
What the hell is TTL??? I want my full "Hey guys, it's TinyTomLogan..."! Don't you dare skim on us!
Time To Live Custom Pc's, the name of his company in memory of his Mother.
I just love in depth motherboard reviews!! Awesome job as always TTL
An awesome board I really like this black edition, but still prefer the X99 Deluxe (1)
Hope the Deluxe 2 video is coming soon
All the pictures I've seen of this motherboard makes it appear as if the PCIe clips are a translucent blue. But in this video I can't tell, are they translucent gray, or blue? Anyone know?
Tom! Beautiful motherboard! I don't care what other people say, I appreciate how thorough you are in your reviews. Keep up the great work bud! :]
you said there's only one USB 2.0 internal but if it has been done the same way as on the original rampage V you can use the rog_ext as a USB 2.0 (at 20:30 we can see that the right part of the ROG_EXT has the same pin out as a USB 2.0, and i've checked it in my rampage V manual it's a USB 2.0) ;)
If not using the ROG_EXT connection the rightmost (10-pin) part of it can be used as a 2-port USB 2 header.
So looking forward for your full review ever since Computex
Looks. Stunning. Cannot wait for the full video Tom! :D
Why does the Asus SupremeFX audio manager not come with jack re-tasking?? You would think that if you bought a $300+ mobo you would be able to use the rear jacks with headphones and speakers at the same time..
last time i was this early, all reviews were 1hr+
lol
what is the hub regarding to the internal usb2 headers are referring to Tom? i just bought a rampage ed 10 and if i wanted to use the dac i wont have space for a h100i v2 can you help please?
Hi Tom, when do you think the full review will be out, I cant wait, I love all your videos been watching this channel for so long now. I do miss the old 1 hour case reviews tho, keep it up :)

Can't wait for the full review/release of the board! I'm hyped
Cool. ASUS finally releases a motherboard including a drive bay DAC just as drive bays are being phased out. Good job.
hey so i watche the asus rampage edition twn video just bought it got it installed did all the driver and utility updates then out of nowhere the whole thing went power out like it just gave up the ghost when i have the 28 pin power connector plugged in i get a little red flashing light right behind the usb ports on the board wont post no fans no flashy changy colors just door nail stiff dead tried cmos battery swith tright cmos reset also cmos channel swith nothing any ideas on what to do?????
Will this fit in a CM Storm Stryker? cant find any exact info on the board but someone here says that its E-ATX, will that fit?
The specification you wrote of this DAC is way better than the Creative X7 you reviewed btw, But these are only numbers cant wait for you to try and say your opinion in the full review.
Is this equivalent to a "Black Edition" for the x99 platform?
u know the three way sli bridge? is it 2 or 3 slot
Never understood the cpu tool , wouldn't the plastic melt?
fyi - it has 2 9-pin usb2.0 connectors - the 2nd is disguised and shared with the ROG-EXT (left position)
Tom what mouse comes with the rampage v edition 10 from newegg? Do you have any idea?
Hello, on your video you mentioned that they don't know when they are going to be released but scan have these in stock.
That intro is ear bleedingly sharp Tom :-( also instead of tea and cookies am eating watermelon while watching this :-)
Tim, i'm using this motherboard with 1 gtx 1080, an i7 6800k, and an intel 750. When I enable the u.2 port, it cuts pcie lane 1 down to x8. There is definitely enough bandwidth to handle the card at x16. Am I missing something, or is this just poor design? I'll appreciate any insight you can give.
Ok when is the strix 1080 actually released ttl ?
I'm curious, how'd you sort out the flicker you had before? :)
I have this but it's annoying because the volume knob of the SupremeFX HiFi DAC prevents me from closing the front panel of my Phanteks Enthoo Primo, is there any custom volume knobs I can get that will let me close the panel, thanks
Not that I know of
A note on noctua iPPC fans, they usually draw less amperage than regular fans. With that 3 amp header you could power fifteen of them
you know i am surprised this vid is not longer lol, still got the x79 black you reviewed a while back
Excellent review thanks TTL
Plate of hot chips= check
Recliner couch= check
Cup of coffee= check
30 minute OC3D video= check
ahhh heaven, What a way to start the weekend! ;)
I wish I could like twice. Can't wait for the full review!
its for sale now in us at new egg ... so why wait ? ...
How did you get the annoying plastic in the middle of the IO off? I'm struggling so hard.
haha - i tried taking off the plastic on the audio box - dumbass me! it was too late when i realized it was not shipping protection.
I got this Motherboard and a Samsung Pro 950 M2. My Question. How are you supposed to fix the M2 slot, without a screw to fix it in place?
my screw was in the bag with the pkg he said was for wifi dongle - whatever that is
AL80 Hey man how did you fix it? I got the motherboard too and also m2 from samsung
my rampage IV is still going strong. such good boards. couldn't recommend them more
so this is the black edition of the rampage V?
Great video. In your video, you mentioned 3 usb 3.0 ports on the back IO but there are actually 4 3.0's. Other than that, can't wait to see it running in full swing. Now since I'll be using dual 1080's, will I still need to use the additional GPU power pin on the bottom of the board since I will be overclocking the GPU's. And I will be using the Corsair RM850i with this mobo. Is there anything I should know about this also?
theres technically 2 usb 2.0 cause part of rog ext is a usb 2
Its not a splitter extension
I'm really close to buying this with the 6850k and 32 gig Corsair Dominator Platinum 3000MHz
Any thoughts?
how can you add more usb2 for front connection?
Asus Rampage V 10 or Gigabyte X99 Designare EX
Whic one is better ?
hey wanna tell me where I can get that fan extension for my motherboard? I have the header for it but no actual card
Do you have THIS motherboard? The rampage v edition 10? If so then it should have came with it. I just got my board today and it had the fan header card in the box with all the accessories. I don't think you can buy it separately at this time though. You might see people selling a few of them on ebay eventually though.
+TheScaleless no, my problem is that I've had my motherboard for two years and this was an advertised feature that it was compatible with this, but had to be purchased separately. so I don't wanna hear "but do you have this board" because when a company advertises something that virtually doesn't exist, that's false advertising
so if this has only one usb 2 header how do you use the superfx dac and usb 2 on your case?
King Christo it has two, he missed it - next to the one he pointed out, there are two ports to the right and one of them can be used as a Usb 2.0
When is the 1070 SLI video coming?
Few weeks - Ill probably wait till after an Nvidia driver update
Is 1070 SLI even a thing? I would wait for the new Titan if the price will be really around $999,- US and not actually $1499,- US as I presume.
What? You aren't going to do what every other reviewers are doing and release a "review" even with the non-existent profiles? lol
Where is the full review?
Its not been done yet, been too busy with all the GPU launches.
Bah 1080 was enough of that mess. The others are just the same thing but slower. The Titan I will want to see though. This MB I want to buy just don't know if it's worth going from the X99 Sabertooth or not, gotta see all the dings and whistles ya know.
Do you have to flash the bios to properly run the I7 6800k and the I7 6950k?
As for as I know, this board launched after Broadwell-E CPUs. So you should be fine without flashing new bios. Even if you need to flash it, you can use USB BIOS flash function to flash it without Haswell-E CPU.
I love that show case behind you!!. are you in a shop or at home?
I definitely need more than a single USB 2 header, so what is the Corsair USB hub you mentioned? I've found an internal expander from NZXT that appears to be really popular, and thinking of getting it. Thoughts?
He works fine, i use the older one
CyberGolem There are two, he missed it entirely.
How to set fan hub with this motherboard?
I bot the rampage v edition 10 and Corsair Dominator Platinum Series 64GB (4 x 16GB) DDR4 DRAM 3466MHz
It will work or no please ??
Also, I see you re-arranged your shelves again. Will you be doing this in all your videos?
Waiting for local availability to upgrade my RVE just for that native Thunderbolt 3 support.
Hi , Great Video.!! I wanting to know if I can use my old CPU on this System Board ( Intel Core i7-3970X Extreme Edition Sandy Bridge-E 3.5GHz (4.0GHz Turbo).
I would always flash the bios yourself from the website , even if it looks like the same version someone could have been doing some tweaking
How long does it take to boot from a cold boot
+Tom Logan - Omg, you moved the things around on your shelves! :D I don't like change hahaha ;)
any one can confirm that if i used the slot 4 pci last one it will disable the m.2 drive? cause i want to sli a zotac 1080 ti when it come out but it is a 2.5 card and i need all the room for air cooling and dont like cards being all close together
Wont disable but it will effect the lanes your GPU's get so its really not the best idea.
OC3D TV thanks
I recently ordered this motherboard for my new PC, and I was wondering if it's possible to use an Intel 750 PCIe SSD as my boot drive. And if so, can I use that SSD with GTX 1080s in SLI?
Yes
and it shares the lanes with the m.2
Completely off topic, but; Your intro puts THX to shame.
I had to stop various objects on my desk from flying off it, after starting your video.
Thats when you know its gonna be good. ;-)
what camera are you using?
What is the point for this kind of videos in 60fps, i mean, in videos about gaming is ok, but, in this videos?
I've grown to like this guy. He has a nice charm.
Great motherboard! Enthusiast grade for sure!
Can it be established in Japanese at the time of BIOS setting of the motherboard? I think I'll sell them by Japan, import it by an individual and buy it.
Asus BIOS supports Korean. I am pretty sure it will support Japanese as Japanese gets better language supports across the tech world then Korean. :)
huh... still blows my mind that my evga z87 classified comes with 2 8 pin eps connectors and a 6 pin for the pci slots yet it only has one usb 3 slot and 1 usb 2 slot lol. obviously they had one idea for this board
This motherboard looks awesome :D
It is :) I just got mine today! Need more TIM though as i ran out. So i can't use it till tomorrow afternoon when my Cool Laboratory LIquid Copper thermal paste arrives.
+TheScaleless I am going to buy it too, but I need to wait till it will be available in Poland
I would like to run i7 5820k on it with gelid gc extreme and Fortis 3 from SilentiumPC :)
I still got to w8 4 more days,... but I cant w8 to put my 6900K in it!
+AL80 i want to put i7 5820k or something cheap in this board, When it will be available in Poland :)
My advice for you, if you already have that processors, then buy either a 300 euro Board or dont buy anything, if you already have a X99 Motherboard with the 2011-3
15:17 what was that? :D
That intro was pure Savage.
i would like to see a full back plate with LED's both on the side top and bottom instead of just a half backplate.
Hiya TTL could you plz state socket, ram and so on in start of rewiew. Waited a LONG time to find out its not for my 6700k cpu, sadly.
Great unboxing vids, enjoyed it almost as much at the vlog picking up the new gtx1080.
It never would have been for the 6700K fella. Rampage has been 2011 since it started. 1151 is the Maximus Extreme and thats available already
wow that setup that collor now thats a mobo I want to own.ide say enough with the rainbow colors time to get back to quality.
hmm no oc panel anymopre?
The only problem I have is that thare is only a few cpu for that mother board
man, that USB looks stunning.
plane on the right - Lancaster? The left is Volcano? and there's also Spitfire and Hurricane?
Nice mate
That would be "Vulcan," not Volcano, your autofill must have activated. And a Chinook too.
Is the Dominator Platinum ROG Edition 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR4 DRAM 3200MHz C16 Memory Kit (CMD32GX4M4C3200C16-ROG) compatible with this motherboard?
Yes but you still need to enable XMP or set it up oin the bios. no ram just works at rated speed straight out of the box
But would the ram be ok straight out of the box, or do i have to do the XMP thing first? And also don't i have to update the bois on the board also?, which i can do with just the board and a usb stick
This is the best looking motherboard I've ever seen.
TOM you moved everything around... Looks better.
3 USB 3? I see 4 of those. Plus, you skip over the Gbe ports. Are they 10Gbit? No. Then it's not a good board.
I wish I could fit an EATX in my mid tower - I settled with the Rog Strix X99 Gaming.
What do you mean they don't know when it's going to be released? It's already released in the US. I have one in fact.
lol, i know! I was like WTF are you talking about, i just got mine today in the mail! How is it "not out yet" lol. I know a few people on overclock.net who have one too! It was for sale on newegg back at May 17th, then on June 10th, and on June 17th, and is for sale now on newegg too!
lol welcome to Europe
Can anyone confirm how long this item took to ship? Looking at shipping this from Amazon or new egg to Boston. Thanks.
Luke Bridger
From NewEgg to Baltimore took 4 days.
Bios flashback saved me when I setup my new rig... 6800k would not post until I updated to the new bios.
Sorry Tom, but...
Did you metion the socket?... I don´t think so. Was it a 2011?
'Love your videos
2011-3
anybody have still in stock in 2020?
Will have this MotherBoard very soon along with a 6800k cpu, & Dominator Platinum Series 32GB. plus SAMSUNG 850 PRO 4TB SSD cards in raid 0. with a GTX 1080 G1 WindForce GPU, ALL hardline water cooled.. Can't wait!!!!
You know the MSI X99 Godlike has a USB with the drivers
hey no offense or anything related to that, but are you impersonating rick and morty from the Rick and Morty show on adult swim XD, anyway love the review and if you are impersonating them that's a big plus XD
getting one of these, but the whole beta bios thing is worrisome...
I disagree with you on the M.2 location Tom, I like between the slots along with another, easier to access location. A board like this should have at least two m.2 along with 1+ u.2 IMO.

Amazing board I have the ASUS Rampage V Extreme in the main review can you do a comparison
