Give a dam innovative award to yourself aswell, Dimitri, for one of the best review videos out there! Seems like Be Quiet combined Fractal R5 and Cooler Master's Mastercase into one entity while improving on things that were lacking on the other models. Nice! I just wish they would have added two SSD mounts on the back of the mobo-tray.
+Anthony Riley with all due respect, your choice of cooling adds no heat, barring the few watts difference from the different fans and water pump where applicable. The components use the same power and therfore same heat output.
After watching this video about 9000 times, I finally bought this case. It's supposed to show up today, and I'm pretty excited. Thank you so much HardwareCanucks! :D
I got this after the review here and fixed the issue myself with the door and weak magnets, I redesigned and 3D printed the magnet holders on the door to accept 8 mm x 2 mm neodymium magnets. Door stays closed no matter what angle you tilt the case. Also decided to design slot covers for the unused HDD slots, makes it really clean looking inside and addresses on of the issues brought up in this review.
I don't think anyone has better reviews on cases than HardwareCanucks. Very good video quality, angle captures, focus, set up, time separation between shots. Dimitri is a professional in every sense of the word.
I know it's a bit late, however, I just lowered the motherboard, in this case, to fit the top radiator completely inside. (I had it in the top compartment). I realised that I actually didn't mention it on your channel that I bought the case after watching your video :). With the 7 silent wings fans + 360 rad it is quiet and powerful case. So, thank you, Dimitri!
I just got the case, I removed the magnets on the door and replaced them with larger magnets. They only had thin, tiny washer neo magnets... replaced them with solid cylinder magnets 3x thicker and just replacing them on the door did the trick for keeping it closed when tipped.
Great innovations. If I was a pro builder and or case enthusiast like you I'd love all the versatility. I love when companies make continual improvements.
This is the quietest build I've ever seen. It's not only silent, but it looks stellar! This time BeQuiet did a really impressive job to give us an innovative and amazing case. =D And as always, awesome video!
After using this case for a bit I've figured out why be quiet! made the front door open so easily. The optical drives are behind it. If the door is closed and the optical drive tray extends, like say after a disc as finished burning, it will simply push the door open instead of potentially damaging the motor the moves the tray.
Nice to see a case maker trying to innovate rather than dump another boring box on the market. Will be interesting to see if they take the feedback seriously and improve upon its faults. I've gone ITX though and won't be going back to ATX ever again. The only new thing I am excited to see come to market is the mini-STX form factor.
Came here from the case of the year video. I love how this review had to be so complicated because of all the customizability, and at the same time the case only has one or two "self-compatibility" issues due to being so modular. Also, you heard it here first: "Self-compatibility"
This truly deserves the dam innovative award. The implementations are less than perfect but I hope newer iterations and also other companies will adopt some of the innovation.
While it's not my type of case. Going into this review I didn't understand how it was a possible nomination of COTY but after this review wow... I'm shocked a team of engineers managed to fit that much functionality into a case and have it maintain all of it's awesome features! Great Job Be Quiet!
Hey Dmitri, I've actually chosen the Dark Base Pro 900 for my new TR4 Build and I thank you a lot for the in-depth review which is incredibly accurate. Liked and subscribed!
+Aaponton You dont understand what i mean. i use a corsair rm750x which costed me ₹9000 or around 150$ in india and bitfinex cable kit costs ₹14000 or around 200$ .
If I never had my eyes on the Phanteks Enthoo Evolv, I probably would've went for this case, but I gotta thank you for showing me the Cable Mod site, I'll definitely be getting some of those new PSU cables when I go for the Enthoo Evolv :)
Thank you for the review. I found it very resourceful. Wish this had a purple strip instead of orange. Was hoping it was LED based but based on your review it isn't. The search continues!
Nice. I still have my old 902, but later this year or early in 2017, I'M changing my whole system ( I'm wating new AMD cpu). This case is now a serious contender for my choice of case!
I like this case, and another great review, Dmitry! I think to remove the issue with the rubber noise isolation strips, they could just include them on both sides for reverse ATX layouts, as long as they are smooth enough to allow the solid panel to slide in over them and not cause it to get stuck. Thanks!
+HardwareCanucks I went ahead and picked up this case based on your review. Definitely keep up the good work, your reviews are always helpful! One question though, are you able to cite the song name starting at 1:17 in the video? Doesn't appear to be either song credited in the video's notes... Much appreciated!
I can't help but notice that this case does not have a dust filter for the top vents, and no reviews anywhere mentions about this... Does this case suffer from dust issues from the top vents?
The problem with the FANS that come with this case, the Be Quiet Silent Wings...they aren't actually more "quiet", they just use materials that produce a lower hum that you can't physically hear. We're talking super low frequencies that are harmful to your ears. It appears most don't notice this, but as soon as I turned on my PC once installing everything in this case, my ears felt a weird pressure (as if I was in an airplane) and began ringing after a couple of minutes. I swapped the Be Quiet fans with some cheap Corsair ones from my previous case, and sure its not as quiet, but my ears aren't hurting. Also...I took a DB reader to both with the Be Quiet fans and the corsair ones...both were averaging around 30db, even though I "heard" a quieter noise from the Be Quiet fans. It's because of the change in frequency.
Great review HWC! With so many options these days, I think one can be super picky about what they want in a case. While the modularity (e.g. ability to shift the mobo tray down) is nice, It's more expensive than I'd like - and I do wish they offered a version without those included fans, to reduce cost.
Well since the Nanoxia Deep Silence 6 is not being stocked in my country, looks like I am getting this Be Quiet Dark Base Pro 900 instead. Room for radiator and lots of hard drive slots looks good to me.
Wow, I want this case. Been looking for a case that I could have the window on the right hand side. Would go nicely with a set of custom sleeved cables ;)
That random rubber grommet would be good if you mount a Pump on top of the drive bays. I understand the case comes with a mounting bracket just for that.
1000 better than most other review videos as this guy actually tests noise! So many useless reviews on other channels which completely ignore noise tests.
Are you going to be reviewing the EVGA cases that are going to be coming out? (EVGA DG-84, EVGA DG-85, EVGA DG-86, EVGA DG-87) I want to see how you think EVGA did. Thanks Dimitri and keep up the AMAZING work!
I love everything about the Dark Base Pro 900 except for the fact that you can't buy it without the window. While you *can* go out and buy a spare door and replace the window with that, it's an awkward amount of work for those who just want a silent case with good features.
Totally like the Be Quiet! Dark Base Pro Case but will be happier with a smaller case. Dark Base Pro 700? And that pricing though...hopefully it gets fixed before the Mid tower becomes available. I need a Mid tower.
Gonna be buying new cables! Im literally scouring Manila for cablemod cables, I can't seem to find them, hopefully I can buy one at a famous store here in my place
Well I gotta say. Your cables here in this build ,. Are eerily close to the ones I have configured in the Configurator that has been sitting in my account now for at least a month . Great minds always think alike. I just have to work a few more weeks of OT to make it happen. I got my (White) Phanteks Enthoo Luxe last Wed.. And the build is slowly taking it's shape. Just jammed a little on what I'm getting for a mother board .. X99 or Z170 ?????? I would love to experience what it's like to edit a video. Never had the know how. Or the soft ware. This would be my first ever attempt at trying it out. I have an old Panasonic HD Palmcorder tthat I would use for miscellaneous occasions. But anyway. You've definitely given me an idea at least ,. For what these cables are actually going to look like. I got the same type too.
The fact that you get 3 Silent Wings 3 is a deal in itself. Those things (I assume) are about the same price as Silent Wings 2 which are around $30 if not on sale, so that's $90 in fans on a $250 case.
ad question: ok so if i understod right, modflex cables are the darker colored flex ones and modmesh is the shiny-lighter colored stiff cables i got that right?? * also how come no one mounts the glass window by just sliding it into a lock mechanism instead of the hassle of having to screw it into space? awesome designed case bequiet good jobbbbb i want one. *edit* i might genuely buy one even thought i dont need it and i only do case modding and wont mod this.
Finally a company with support for bequiet! and Silverstone PSUs... I'm so happy!!! No more guessing and modding... On to the case... Just waiting for my "Cherry Picked" 6900K to arrive. Perfect timing for this review. Will you make me leave Phantecs and Corsair? Thank you.
On with the case... A big disappointment, especially for a bequiet! fan. I'll be keeping my Primo for the main X99 builds, the Enthoo Luxe for other builds, and the R5 for silent builds. They should have gone with more mounting options for the Power Supply, instead of going for the full inverted design.
great review, thanks for the incredible detail, you can really tell you spent a lot of time with building a computer in this case, good insight. thanks. I'm considering this case
Love the case but almost seems to large for what was in it. I'm new to this but if you pick a case, how do you pick out a motherboard to go with it? I get confused on how many pins you need for the CPU and all that. How do you keep up with choosing all the things you need for a complete build so you don't run into the cooling bumping into the RAM and how many fans do you need? I just have so many questions and, living in the county, no pro's near me to build a quality build like you do! Nice video!
Cool! I've got one comming on Saturday for my new Build. watercooled Skylake 6700K/Titan Xp I have the Obsidian 800D whilst it was good its old now and dosent support a lot of fan sizes like 280mm, plus I had to take a dremel to it and cut out the steel shelf dividing the motherboard area from the PSU as my current crazy MSI bigbang Xpower II is ....TOO LONG FOR IT! that was a crazy Motherboard. whoever designed that had never heard of a Ruler
You have no idea how jealous I am right now. I got a PSU from Be Quiet! to review, but I highly doubt I would be allowed one of these. I want it SO badly.
cool modular design, really like the open spaced out hdd cages.....wish they made a bigger one, all the stuff I have in Enthoo Primo is not gonna fit at all in this
Thanks for the great review! A few questions, would be awesome if you could tell me: Clearances for top radiator thickness in different vertical MB positions? Ie. is a 30mm rad the thickest you can fit with MB in the middle position? Or can you fit a 30mm in the highest position? It looks like there might be space for fans above the grill in the top compartment for a pull or push/pull -setup, is there? I wish simple info like this could be found on manufacturer's website or PDF manual, but no...
I think it will make things easier to create some kind of rail system for the motherboard tray to turn it around, kinda like the one caselabs uses You move only the rails to the position you want and then you just slide the rest in
Hey Dmitry, love your videos. I always come here when I'm in doubt of a case or just to watch your awesome case reviews. Can you pretty please do a review of the "Deepcool Genome Cooling System Case". This case looks bad ass and I think if you do a review of this case, it will put the icing on top for me & others to buy this case. :)
u know, i honestly think that the rubber around the glass mounts is whats preventing the glass to metal contact. the sticker is only covering the holes for mounting the motherboard tray and the drive mounts, so u dont see them when the glass is on
Give a dam innovative award to yourself aswell, Dimitri, for one of the best review videos out there!
Seems like Be Quiet combined Fractal R5 and Cooler Master's Mastercase into one entity while improving on things that were lacking on the other models. Nice! I just wish they would have added two SSD mounts on the back of the mobo-tray.
Indeed. The reviews are awesome! Dimitri and Marques Brownlee are the heros.
they do!
Well they didn't improve the colors. Just saying...
I have to admit it, I'm a Be Quiet! fanboy.
then Be Quiet!
I am a cardboard box fanboy. Fully modular design and the least expensive case ever ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
I have a Be Quiet Dark Rock Pro 3 CPU cooler and it looks amazing, IMO it looks better than a water cooler in my H440.
*****
I just think watercoolers are a bit boring, everyone has one. And the air cooler costs less but performs just as well as the water cooler.
are you happy with the case?
This helped me decide to buy the case, ty for the clear review, its among the best (if not THE best) on youtube.

The only thing I can think of, while I'm watching this, is the awesomeness of the video work, perfect!
this case is pretty cool, many unique feature and clever engineering. can't say that about most case nowadays
I just got the case, I removed the magnets on the door and replaced them with larger magnets.

the quality of your videos always amazes me
your sponsor advert at the beginning is much more interesting and nice than on other channels.
nice video👌
This case is quite intriguing, I'm seriously considering getting the Pro version.
Fantastic. Next case if nothing better comes out. Great video Dimitri, and kudos on the subscribers.
Oh my lord, what a beautiful video. It's busting out the seems with lovely content too. I bow down Sir, bow down.
+Ash Tailor (ashthought) thanks Ash ;)
ikr? i just wanna give him head already
You ARE the best case reviewer on UA-cam and i think it's even you specialty !!!

Dude! Awesome job! You spend so much time on your videos to make sure they are quality! I highly appreciate all the work you put in.
"Goodbye old cables!"
**safely packs away into storage**

+Brando Crispim Vieira welcome to the channel and I'm glad the review helped 👍😎
Qi Charger? What? I'm sold
Inverted system? No Way
yea hah :)
Exactly what I said to myself.
Kamehameha
cablemod cables are much more expensive than my psu
then your psu sucks
+Aaponton You dont understand what i mean. i use a corsair rm750x which costed me ₹9000 or around 150$ in india and bitfinex cable kit costs ₹14000 or around 200$ .
You don't have to buy an entire kit, just 2 or 3 extension cables for mobo, GPU, etc.
+Kappaccino Yeah but the singular cables are hella expensive. $75 for 3 Cables: 24 Pin, 8-Pin CPU, and 6+2 Pin GPU power connectors.
Captain Leerox It says 44.70$ for me but yeah, similar cables by Phanteks or Bitfenix are about 10$ cheaper.
I really like this case. Cable management can be a challenge but not too bad.
Best case reviews on UA-cam hands down
This guy is the best. Happy to have stumbled on his channel
Didn't think I'd see an amazing case from Be Quiet!
If i didn't already have the Enthoo Evolve ATX, I'd definitely go for this case.
Cablemod ? Yes please ( Taking note of this for my future build ) .
I'm glad he put the custom cables in.
The modular honeycomb plate idea is just brilliant! Has anyone done that before actually?
WOW talk about modular, Job well done Be Quiet.
Nice. I still have my old 902, but later this year or early in 2017, I'M changing my whole system ( I'm wating new AMD cpu). This case is now a serious contender for my choice of case!
Production of your videos is always so good! even in Taipei. keep up the good work.
Yes I like the idea of the inverted case possibility, so I can put my pc on the left hand side of my desk and still see inside it!
Definitly the best review of this case so far. I still don't know if I would pick this one over my Fractal R5, considering the huge price difference.
thanks for the link to the cable mod web site, I need to work on my cable management and I appreciate all the help I can get
Awesome looking case, almost won me over from the Enthoo Evolv ATX glass edition but... not quite. Enthoo evolve will still be my go to case.
I like this case, and another great review, Dmitry! I think to remove the issue with the rubber noise isolation strips, they could just include them on both sides for reverse ATX layouts, as long as they are smooth enough to allow the solid panel to slide in over them and not cause it to get stuck. your review sold it for me...one will be arriving in a weeks time... cheers HardwareCanucks :D
Amazing as always. you can tell how much you worked on the video
I can't help but notice that this case does not have a dust filter for the top vents, and no reviews anywhere mentions about this... Does this case suffer from dust issues from the top vents?
Camera and lighting on point, awesome content, you got my sub. Keep up the high quality work man!
Thanks for the fantastic (as always) review! Been eyeing the windowless version for a while, hopefully it's even more quiet!
+TheDarkTongo thanks ;) yes a non-glass would be even more quiet.
The problem with the FANS that come with this case, the Be Quiet Silent Wings...they aren't actually more "quiet", they just use materials that produce a lower hum that you can't physically hear. Just another thing to add to my dream PC.
1000 better than most other review videos as this guy actually tests noise! So many useless reviews on other channels which completely ignore noise tests.
Awesome case !! having regrets getting the silent base 800
What lens do you use? Because my god, your B-roll and depth of field is absolutely fantastic.
All our gear is linked in the description!
+HardwareCanucks oh shit you guys use the same lens as me. Fantastic lens. I need to step up my craft :o
+HardwareCanucks Can you do a Case Review on the Silverstone Primera PM01 Full Tower Case.
Excellent review, still trying to make a decision on the case that I want to choose.
Nice review mate. Can you make these sound test portions longer? Also adding measured results would help a lot. Cheers
Impressive video production quality, as always!
Beautiful one for Work/Testing/Gaming Station !!!
Great job on your video lighting. Especially on your face. Nice wrapping key light at a good ratio. Looks fantastic.
+Nicholas Reif thaanks ;)
+HardwareCanucks yay :) my fav tech tuber saw my comment
love how your videos has been improved!
I think I may have to look at changing my existing case .... Dang be Quiet ... Good Job
This is really my dream case...and over the years I liked a lot of cases but every single one was missing something...
They should have gone with more mounting options for the Power Supply, instead of going for the full inverted design.
great review, thanks for the incredible detail, you can really tell you spent a lot of time with building a computer in this case, good insight. thanks. I'm considering this case
hope the next one will get a dam innovative and dam good, that made me pick my atcs 840 the first time
Still have my Silent Base 800, love it!
Agreed! I got mine when NCIXus had it on sale for $77. Zero complaints about the case for that price!
Love the case but almost seems to large for what was in it. I'm new to this but if you pick a case, how do you pick out a motherboard to go with it? Cool! I've got one comming on Saturday for my new Build. watercooled Skylake 6700K/Titan Xp I have the Obsidian 800D whilst it was good its old now and dosent support a lot of fan sizes like 280mm, plus I had to take a dremel to it and cut out the steel shelf dividing the motherboard area from the PSU as my current crazy MSI bigbang Xpower II is ....TOO LONG FOR IT! that was a crazy Motherboard. whoever designed that had never heard of a Ruler
blue and White Motherboard in a orange and black case... nice!
This is arriving some time today, I can't wait! Going for custom loop inside too :)
Awesome review my man always the boss of case reviews.
You have no idea how jealous I am right now. I got a PSU from Be Quiet! to review, but I highly doubt I would be allowed one of these. I want it SO badly.

daaaamnn I love that case!
now I want to build a PC AGAIN!!! :O
Yeah. Lol. I building one within a week man. So excited. Such good parts in it.
I think it will make things easier to create some kind of rail system for the motherboard tray to turn it around, kinda like the one caselabs uses
You move only the rails to the position you want and then you just slide the rest in
Hey Dmitry, love your videos. I always come here when I'm in doubt of a case or just to watch your awesome case reviews.
Can you pretty please do a review of the "Deepcool Genome Cooling System Case". This case looks bad ass and I think if you do a review of this case, it will put the icing on top for me & others to buy this case. :)
if they made a Light Base Pro (White or silver) I'd be all over it. I love White and Orange builds like my current NZXT case
HardwareCanucks and Linus, you're best ! ☺
that motherboard piece would make a great base for a DIY testbench
That's one good looking case! The in built wireless chi-charger! But that price tag...it's a shame.
Pretty creative, don't like the PSU cables hanging out the bottom of the MB tray though
Thumbs up to cable mod. I wish they could send them in Bangladesh !
1 minute ad?!
sorry - so much to cover with our Configurator because all of the features.
+CableMod Community disliked and left the video already at the 1 minute mark
cut these guys some slack - their content is so great and they need to make some money to finance this production quality.
+CableMod Community I dont care !!!!
