We have an '86 Turbo and an '87 SR5. Both have SoftToppers and we love them. Wife's is always in Safari mode unless there's a big storm. Had to put a new motor in the '87 after 387k miles (went with a Jasper Engines long block). Highly recommend the ARB/OME springs! Thanks for the videos and link to PreserveRad!
I’ve got a 1st and 5th gen but the 1st gen will always be the fun one to drive. Light, nimble, and 5 speed (although it’s slow as a turtle)! Great platform to build a badass wheeler.
I built a hoist system in my garage for removing my top by myself. Comes off in May, goes back on in september-october. Takes about an hour but it's 💯 worth it. Keeps the top high off the floor too so I can park my motorcycle and tool boxes underneath.
Haha Aussie mods ftw 👌 good suspension on and off road is super necessary pretty much everywhere here, but especially in Western Aus and the Territory where almost everyone has a 4x4
I built a table in the shape of a U in order to slide my top off and on myself. You can see in one of my shorts. Easier than a pully system or if it doesn't fit in your garage!
Before anything, get a moderately priced 120V welder and a bottle shielding gas, teach yourself to weld, and repair the inner frame rails, rear tubular cross member and wheel arches.
I uste to be always looking at seats. They were easy to find, and roughly 300 a seat until about ten years ago. Ive read Civic seats drop in. I haven't tried that.
I selll everything on CL. All of the other places are shit 😂😂 2nd gen seats work. Also, There’s a company that makes a mount that works with almost any seat. Quick shout out to: Marlin Crawler Yotashop Yotamasters And LC engineering Great places for all your classic yota needs
Not throwing shade, everything I said it the truth. The old owner went crazy every time someone criticized his products. Plus veteran owned is cool and all but a business that has gone throw 3 different owners in 20 years shows their products aren’t good. New owners have to prove themselves and change the design or else the business will fail just like it did for the last guy. Softopper is way better in every way. But I thank them for serving and wish them the best. If they wanted to start making tops they probably should have just started a new company because KTT already has a bad rep.
These videos are so good man. I learn so much! Please never stop.
Thanks for the comment, it made my day!
i agree with this guy.
FYI Killer Toy Tops is back! They sold the business and the new owners are running it as it was before.

We have an 88. My dadz has owned it. Since it was brand new. It was a show truck. Family vehicle and an occasional, mud truck.

Can you post the link for the 4runner parts
Yeah I can. Preserverad.com is for the interior pieces, rockroadoutfitters.com is for the lift, and softopper.com is for the softop
Good video but kinda shitty throwing shade on killer toy tops. They do still sell them and are a small company veteran owned

@hakosan86 you know the truck with the with looking topper you showed is a ktt top? On the aspet of going safari mode ktt beats soft top.
Yeah I showed both options in the video. It’s just my opinion. I didn’t tell people not to buy it I just said that softopper is better.
Modern car's blow compared to this beauty.
Just 3d print a lighter top.
