  • Are you a habitual waiter?
I’ve been reading The Power of Now and really resonated with the part where it teaches the reader that waiting is a state of mind. When you’re waiting, it means you want the future and as a byproduct - it means you reject the present.
With every type of waiting, you create inner conflict between you here and the projected future. Ultimately, leaving you never satisfied with what you have.
All my life, I’ve always been striving towards life milestones and career goals. I never did weekend trips despite living just a few hours flight away from some of the best destinations in the world. I told myself to wait until I’ve “made it”. Before you know it, 5 years in Singapore have passed by and I still haven’t visited some of these beautiful neighbouring countries.
Last year, I realized how many of my closest friends are now married/having kids and are entering a different stage in life. Those opportunities to do spontaneous weekend trips will fade away. There’ll be a never ending list of milestones to chase after and the years just passed by in the flash of an eye.
So here I am. I booked that girls trip I always said I wanted to do & I visited Italy for the first time in my life. Pursuing your career goals and still living life to the max in the present aren’t mutually exclusive.
In this video, I did a boat trip to an active volanco in the Aeolian Islands. As the sky darkened, we blasted music & watched the volcano erupt. Out of no where, the captain jumped into the pitch dark water - everyone was horrified.
The only thought I had in my mind was: Holy shiet that’s scary…but I kinda wanna jump in too.
I wasn’t dressed for swimming, it was pitch dark outside, and we were in the middle of the sea.
…but when else am I going to be in my 20s, making new friends on the boat, watching a volcano erupt, with the opportunity to do this?! So here we are. Just me being in a silly, goofy mood.
