- Phil Rowley is visiting the West Yellowstone region to fly fish on Hebgen Lake for their famous "gulpers". These are big brown and rainbow trout that come to the surface to "gulp" down mayflies and other insects. Incredible dry fly action for Phil and his guide who are coming from Firehole Ranch.

Fished the Callabetis hatch on Hebgen.....it was awesome ! Great video and great memories ! Thank you !
I’ve never fished an adult damsel as a dry fly. Sounds like a blast having trout take a large fly like that.
Love the Gulpers!
Ahh great honeymoon memories!
I enjoyed your statement about fly line having legs of its own.
love fishing the gulpers of Hebgen and the spruce moths on Quake.
This is also a fantastic lake for chironomids.
Was that bob jacklin fishing the river in the beginning of the episode?
Good eye, yes it was.
Love his famous red shirt !
I could swear he keeps saying "Hebden lake"....Hmmm
Yep, it's Hebden, lol. As a kid I called Hebgen Hegben, 🤣
There's a joke in there somewhere.
