Hi Laura, I said I could watch your videos all day well I have figured out why I like them so much. You are a real person, not sponsored by any one and you ride your own bike. It might not look like like much but by god it can put some miles on. And I like that ain't always talking about nothing and everything, what you have to say has a reason and not only that but I think you are a lovely person as well. If I lived in Canada I would be so proud and amazed to ride with you. Keep on riding and stay safe ❤
Beautiful post! Never been to NWT, but when we rode the beautiful Klondike Hwy from Whitehorse, YT to Skagway, Alaska, I was stunned by the gorgeous rugged beauty of the tundra in the Tormented Valley. We were 2-up on my husband’s Electra Glide, but I’m an 883 Sportster rider myself, and love following your adventures! My 30-year old 883 is my forever bike! Ride safe, & thanks for your posts!
Car travelers might not appreciate that 317miles is a tiring day on a heavily laden bike on rough roads. You earned your spurs every day of this adventure. I say with admiration that you are a real Biker.
Great adventure! Thx! Easy to prep for flat tire (if you have tubeless tires), get plug kit ($20), and mini air pump ($40 runs off your battery), watch a couple how to videos and your set. Stay safe. 💪😁👍🇨🇦
AS i have said before thanks for making these videos so others like me can travel with you while sitting comfortably at home. I am in the United States (Connecticut) and have traveled to Canada. I would love to see more of Canada and your videos are fueling this interest. Keep riding and stay safe.
Some comments says “get a new bike” Laura! I really don’t know. The 883 is a good bike, Laura has proved that. I can’t imagine Laura on a new shiny Afrika Twin, and they are very expensive. Thanks for taking us to Yellow Knife
I have to say doing the sort of miles you do on the 883 is impressive! I hope your next bike can take you off the beaten path a bit more but rest assured whatever your next travels bring I’ll be tuning in.
That view from down low looking up at the blue sky is awesome, also ive been up here for 5 years and have yet to see buffalo im super jealous now...i was convinced they were a myth lol
Hello Laura! Thank you for the video. I like the parks, the nature there is very beautiful. The places to spend the night with a tent are convenient. The music in the video is nice to listen to and watch the video. I wish you a good day and good luck!!! Thank you Laura!!🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌷🌷🌷☕
Hey Laura!! You fresca girl !! Thanks so much for the most awesome ride, I did not know you guys had so many flies and I did not know you had bison in the NW Territory AWESOME !! As always be safe! Ready for the next video !!
Looks like you were not bothered as much by those giant midges this week! What a ride, great landscapes and no dramas on your +300ml ride, those cans are working out fine. Cheers
What beautiful landscapes you brought us. When I watch your videos and feel the sound of the bike. I feel like we are traveling next to that wonderful place. ❤
Hi Laura another great video Thank you Amazing ride & beautiful scenery sad though for the people that had to deal with the fires losing homes & forests destroyed & yea things in the Great White North can be really expensive I lived in the Yukon for a little over a year & the same thing for prices Congrats on reaching your destination you are an amazing young lady Really looking forward to your next video you are doing things I wish I had done when I was younger so I will keep enjoying your videos putting a smile on my face Take care for now Laura Always be safe Ridin in the Wind 😎😎
Seeing a herd of bison can really give me a sense of Anemoia, that must have been something to ride through.. never really knew the definition of Tundra thank you for that.. I think an Africa Twin or the Pan Am would really add to your riding enjoyment I know people who ride each and both are fine machines! Also $55.00 for laundry soap!! I would be beating my jeans with a rock down at the creek! Great Video.
So pleased to see you enjoying your beautiful country. I saw the Tundra when riding the Dempster highway to the Arctic Circle. Beautiful and yet strange. Not really dry there, as the tundra you walked upon was a bit spongey. The black flies and mosquitos that seemed to pester you reminded me of riding across Labrador to Newfoundland a few years ago. Hope you make that trip too. A beautiful country and you make it an absolute pleasure to go on "tour" with you.
@@solo.roader I'm sure your wondering if the 883 could handle it. Probably yes. In the interest of full disclosure, I was riding to Alaska with a couple who were two up on a Harley. Scott wanted to go up the Dempster but we hadn't really discussed it. I was on a Goldwing. I'd been riding about a year and a half at that point. We went up the bumpy gravely road about twenty miles to a park display. It was raining. I was ready to head back south but Scott talked to a member of the RCMP who was based in Inuvik. "He said the road is no worse than what we've already been traveling on... so let's go to the Circle." I was dubious, but Scott had hundreds of thousands of bike miles under his belt. So on the summer solstice of 2016 we rode north. Spent the night at Eagle Plains camping and the next morning went the remaining 30 miles north. I shudder today when I think of taking the Goldwing up there. Honestly don't know how I did it but, aside from the rain, it was uneventful. I'd love to go back riding my Super Tenere to Inuvik... but at age 73, that isn't likely to happen. To be at the Circle on the Longest Day of the year was truly, truly unforgettable. I hope you can make that trip someday. It is well worth it. Make it happen Laura. It is simply a matter of choice really. Do it.
I note the other comment about prepping for a flat and second that! Really easy to fix a flat with mag wheels/tubeless tires. BUT the BIG benefit is you do NOT worry about it happening anymore!!! - because you CAN deal with it pretty easily if you prep for it, watch some youtube vids etc. Best wishes!!
@@solo.roaderthanks for the reply Laura. Btw Im really enjoying your videos which just popped up on my feed as if by magic! In particular they make me appreciate the sheer , wild, vastness of Canada, such a different "vibe" to the US, which is obviously also amazingly beautiful. Riding like you do, on that bike, brings back how it was 40 years or more ago when I started doing it....people just toured on whatever they had - no obsession back then with having to have "the right bike" to do it on. You may not realize it, but you really are "old school". I"m inspired by you , as I am by Itchy Boots (Norally) and the guys who make Joy Machine - and Im still riding with my wife EVERY chance we get. Thanks.
I live in the Netherlands, that is about 42000 square kilometer. I saw on Wikipedia that the NorthWest Territories are 1100000 square kilometers. Amazing how big your country is. I would love to ride my bike there. It was sad to see how much was burned by the forest fires. Beautiful video by the way. Loved it.
Love the fact you got to fly your drone at the park!! that looked like a peaceful ride....do you have a tire plug kit? i always carry one with a motopumps brand tire pump, works right off your battery tender connector....
@@solo.roader I did was great coming back from holidaying in Spain and seeing you had up loaded a vid thank you ,, it’s got me thinking of planning a ride 🏍️😁
That was hilarious Laura, most places you have other traffic to worry about including pedestrians but not Canada. Your biggest worry is buffalo/bison in the road that you have to negotiate or avoid . At least they run away from you and not turn and charge. Are you already thinking of your next adventure yet Laura ? Great video
@@solo.roader A unique and special experience Laura and you captured it perfectly. You really have taken to motorcycle adventures and I love coming along for the ride.
Literally pulled in from a 2 day 800 mile camping trip on my sportster and sat down to a new Danielle video. You are definitely 3 levels up on me in toughness. Tougher rides, longer distances, and seemingly unphased. I'm completely beat and contemplating a machine change this off season to something more comfortable at eating miles. Dunno how you've done it all these seasons.
That’s awesome! I hope you had a good trip. Believe me, a few days into my travels I begin hurting. And good sleeps are non-existent for me. I just figure that’s all part of the journey…. But maybe I’m wrong 😉
oh Wow, you're living my dream.... I'd like to take my old BMW up the Dempster Highway someday... Too bad I am so busy working myself into the ground...
SISTER , THANK-YOU FOR TAKING US ALONG, WOW THE BUFFALO WERE AMAZING,ARE YOU RIDING ALONE, ARE THE PRISES FOR FOOD AND GAS UP THERE PRETTY HIGH, MUCH RESPECT FOR YOUR COURAGE.....WOW !! PLEASE BE SAFE !!
Thank you!! I’ve only ever done solo trips. The cost of food and fuel was a bit higher compared to what I’m used to, but I was expecting them to be significantly more expensive!
Love that area up there and about the burned forest, we get a lot of that here. Three fires this last week within about 100 miles of me. We even had a mandatory evacuation at my house a couple of years ago but we were spared the fire getting too close. I like that Africa Twin, after my BMW days the first Honda I got was an Africa Twin AS, loved the bike but too tall and top heavy. Now downsized but a bigger bike is better on the highways so thinking about another Africa Twin (on the top model they have put a smaller front wheel and lowered the bike so although still heavy I could flat foot) so giving it some thought along with a Triumph Tiger. But my current bikes are totally decked out for travel so we will see. Always a project with these bikes!
I’m glad to hear you were spared from the fire! I’ve heard that about the Africa Twin. The gentleman mentioned he wouldn’t take it down any gravel roads because it’s a bit too tall for him. I’ve been looking at the Triumph too, but I don’t know… I feel like I would be abandoning the sporty.
@@solo.roader Yes there is something about you and your sporty, almost romantic doing things with it and taking it places it was never made to do and go, showing that it's not so much the bike but the attitude to go out with what you have and make it work.
Right on another awesome video of your epic journey. It would be a bit nerve racking having the thought of mechanical issues or tire issues in such a desolate area. Didn’t even look like much traffic to have someone help you out. That sporty must be a real good bike. How’s the cell service up in those areas? Can’t imagine it would be great. Well looking forward to next instalment. Safe travels
I can understand the concerns and worries crossing the vastness with no services could bring.. i wish I had some advice to give you some ease..I will tell you tho, all the things I have worried about most have never occurred. I read something one time, " we suffer more in imagination than in reality".. Always good to see a new video from you, thanks!
Have you found that you do indeed need three extra fuel containers, or would one or two have sufficed? Have you considered a larger fuel tank for the bike? Just curious. Love your videos and adventures. :)
Two cans would have gotten me through just fine! Having the extra 5 litres was more of a security blanket for me. Besides, you never know when a polar bear might chew through one. 😉
You’re doing a great job. At some time you may want to look for a more suitable touring motorcycle. Beautiful country, keep the content coming. Take care of yourself and be safe!
That's the plan! But at the same time, I can’t imagine touring on anything else… It’s a tough decision I’ll have to put a lot of thought into. Either way, I’ll never sell the sporty!
