In my playlist there are lots of different designs, including one that is almost identical to mine and was posted last year. Amazing what you can't find on UA-cam when you want to and turns up after you have started your own project ua-cam.com/play/PLA5a2xPRSrB1qxhVNX_grFQM4oa9b2llo.html
Made one for the mini square parachute I'm creating. Do you know of any patent? I can probably just use it and renew interest in this gadget when I can release a square parachute from 200 feet or more ;)
Very interesting mechanism made from stuff designed for something else entirely. Your lateral thinking skills are freely available for all to see and benefit from. In the meantime, you're having waaay too much fun 😄. All politicians and business people ought to watch your re-purposing videos so they can learn how to have fun while solving the Big Issues coming up in the next 2 years. I chose not to use the "B" word 'cos everyone in the U.K. has had an overdose of that.
Thanks Dav, my approach is "give it a try and see what happens". There are plenty of improvements that can be made but for the sake of a few minutes bending a bit of wire and sticking a couple of tubes together we have a toy that works.
I had a small store bought one for my kite when I was a kid.
Great fun.
Did yours have the "sails" that folded to allow it to come back down?
It was a carriage that was pulled by a parachute like yours.
After the parachute was released gravity brought the carriage back down.

In the UK the maximum height you can fly a kite is 60m
@@GrandadIsAnOldMan Glad we are only restricted at airports! That would be enough, but certainly restricting :(

Great idea, hope it works
Takes me 3 videos to get a result I am happy with but it is a very simple toy to make.
