Good video! Only thing I would recommend; Get a 5/8” spark plug tool with the rubber grommet. It will make it easier to remove and install the spark plugs without having to use a magnet!
Thank you! I needed the torque spec. Torqued to 30 N. M. and checked by hand with big ratchet after that... OE VW Bosch plugs don't have the torque on the boxes. I'll only add that the two double nuts in the middle can be very tricky to undo and a thin 10mm wrench will be needed.
You’re supposed to disconnect the negative battery cable that way if you accidentally touch a hot lead you won’t damage anything thing and why not use an actual spark plug socket you mentioned the importance to torque the spark plugs but you didn’t use anti-seize or dilectric grease
why are you watching a video if u know all? anti sieze is recommended not a must , his car his choice! i never use on my , diletric grease didnt even comme from manufacturer so who cares. battery part i agree but i dont do it either because my dsg need to adjust from the begining and for me it sucks.
If the scan tool shows that the problem is cylinder number 1 is it okay to switch coil covers to see if the misfire is in a different cylinder? Or do the coil covers have to be specific to each cylinder?
The computer resets when you unplug the battery. Yeah if the battery is changed NOT just disconnected, it's all to do with the smart charge system, if you don't reset the BCM after putting a new battery your car will think it's a old battery and charge it more than necessary
Nice work! Would it be a good idea to label / mark the number of each HT cable as you unbolt them from top of cover or are they exact length so impossible to mix up (idiot proof) ? 👍🏽
Older video but I really wanna know if anyone else is feeling their car shake on idle, my car has done it since I bought it (used with 1 owner only had 11,000 miles on it) I took it to the dealer and they said nothing was wrong with it and that it didn’t shake for them, I went on a test drive and it didn’t shake but right when I got home it started again..... any ideas of what it might be or how I can figure it out??

possible carbon buildup on injectors. TSI engine is direct injected. I am gonna try a Bell add injector cleaner for TSI engines. have to put it in when theres is 5 - 10 liters left and drive it for 50 km. at abit higher idle and then fill it up with petrol. i have cold misfires when i start driving but it goes away when engine gets warm. mine does not shake when idle only the misfire.
@@arasali6001 exactly this. I bought a brand-new 2016 Jetta and 25,000 miles in it did exactly what you are describing idling shaking and getting on the highway if you Floridaed it as it came up to speed it would shatter the whole way up to a higher idle. It was massive carbon buildup

Good video! I changed mine today and actually didn’t have to disconnect the wires from the coils. I just did it one by one.

antisieze is actually not recommended for modern-day spark plugs.
Carlos .. Yes you are correct.. You don't need to disconnect battery, Bit of anti seize on threads
Little bit of Dielectric grease inside coil boots.
@@cassg7499 anti-seize is not recommended for modern day plugs
Well when you said the rubber ignition coils come out pretty easy I had to laugh. Mine won’t come out cold or warm with my hands.
You should disconnect the negative terminal not positive. You are risking arcing
If you want to make a tutorial video, at least focus the camera on the parts you are replacing and not all over the engine, we missed half the video.
Very god video but it would be nice to know what the proper gap for the plugs.
What is the correct spark plug gap? 2017 Jetta
Did you have to change out the coil packs too or just the spark plugs

Current fows from negative to positive on DC currents. Always disconnect negative on car batteries. NOT THE POSSITIVE AS SEEN HERE.
There are 2 grounding cable connected to each ignition coil.
Great work!
A lot of people say the computer needs to reset after the battery is changed, is that true?

Are those the Bosch Dbl platinum spark plugs that you installed? If so what’s the difference between those & the oem VW (Bosch) sparks plugs?
Everywhere i look suggests bosch sku# 8166, and newer 8180, is the same as oem vw spark plugs
camera should be in a fixed position instead of waving it all over the place.
Good vidio
can i do this without torque wrench?
I would not recommend that, you can over tighten the spark plugs which can lead to cylinder ignition faults
@EM P sub $10 if you use their coupons they run constantly on their website
Pooh Chan you can do it without a torque wrench just tighten the plug a quarter of a turn
You can get a torque wrench for less than $20 in HF.
