Pyramid History
Built in 1804 by French soldiers under General Marmont as a tribute to Napoleon.
Originally 36m high earth pyramid with a wooden obelisk on top, modeled after the Pyramid of Giza
Renamed the Pyramid of Austerlitz in 1806 after Napoleon's victory at Austerlitz
Restored in the early 2000s with a new stone obelisk and metal framework
Visiting the Pyramid
Located at the Den Treek-Henschoten country estate in Woudenberg
Visitor center provides information about the French era in the Netherlands
Visitors can climb the central staircase up to the obelisk
Surrounded by a fun fair with rides, cafe, playground, and ample parking
Entry to the park area is free, but the monument has separate hours/fees.
Getting There
By car, parking is available along the N224 road
By bus, take line 81 from Driebergen-Zeist train station
