    I just discovered your channel and have watched three of your videos -- all very useful! You have the gift of great "common sense", which is my highest compliment. I've used Excel daily for eons and thought I knew it all, but I picked up some very useful ideas from you. You have confirmed and enhanced some tips I've already used. For example, I will be using Conditional Formatting and hiding rows/columns even more. Thank you Lea!

    Excel is one of my favorite programs. I followed an internal course and agree with your approach 100%. Sometimes I see presentations with excel which are so boring or confusing. I also see people who make screenshots of their excel and copy paste them in a powerpoint. I love to work with Pivot tables indeed on other tabs and color code them. The presentation I remove the gridlines and not used cells like you showed, but indeed keep the gridlines in the information when needed. I don't need powerpoint in that way. For me every presentation tab in Excel is like a slide in Powerpoint.
    A free tip for long term planning. I plan the exams for the college where I am a teacher now. I always begin at the end with the last crusial part of the planning and plan backwards to the present. So you better know how much time you need or have. Excel is so handy with those plannings. Besides the easy way to move parts of the planning, I can colorcode the different types of exams.
    I did not use the conditional formating to the extend it can. I learned that form you tonight. Thank you for that. Thank you Lea, for again an informative video. Grtz, Patrick.

      Hi Patrick! Again, I really like how you always relate my tips or tricks to your daily work as a teacher. In particular, I liked when you said you treat each tab like a PowerPoint slide - that's truly how it should be done :) Well said and thanks for sharing, Lea

    Instead of changing the number format, you can hide your numbers with Conditional formatting > Manage rules > Show bar only. This is easier, better understandable and quicker for most users.

    How do you put cells in week/ month order on excell one drive?

    • @LeaDavid
      @LeaDavid  5 місяців тому

      Hi Shannon, not sure what you mean exactly. But one solution could be to start the week/month with a number and then sort the respective column in ascending/descening order.

    Please use the word sheets when you are talking about worksheets. Tabs are other things that should not be confused with them. Nice tip about section deviders, though 🙂.

    hi, thanks for your useful videos. I have a question for this one though. I'm about to embark on a research project, my first, and I'll be using excel to store data (text) that I will subsequently upload into Nvivi or MAXQDA. Would all your tips on making an excel sheet look better for a human, make it impossible for software to read?

    • @LeaDavid
      @LeaDavid  Рік тому +1

      Hi Michelle, thanks for your feedback! Regarding your question: as so often, it depends. Unfortunatley, I do not know the programs you have mentioned but I assume, it might be difficult for the software to read the data, e.g., if you use the ability to show bar charts / other graphics instead of numbers. However, it shouldn't be a problem if you just name and color your sheets properly. I would suggest to do a super simple dummy spreadsheet and try out what you want to do and achieve to see if it works before you redo your entire data set. All the best with your project, Lea

    Top rows for a titel is good, don't leave column A empty, that is just a girly thing to do and a waste of space (especialy when printing).
