I've had my Armbar slim drive for a couple of years now. I carry it almost daily and have never had a problem with the driver folding over when loosening or tightening screws. If I need a little extra tork for the initial or the final turn I bend it to 90°. If I going to work on something larger or a major project I use my big boy tools not my edc tool. Cheers 🇨🇦
Man I really hope they release a version of the armbar with the knife, scissor and but driver with a liner lock, or some sort of lock. It's the perfect set of essential tools for me.
Pretty sure they make a version similar saw it on BLADE HQ awhile back
@@-hawtzauce-1108 none of them have locking bit drivers tho I think
Böker plus specialist half-tool
and a pocket clip
I totally get your point about that detent... But in another hand if you need more presure/strength to screw/unscrew something I think you need to another driver...
Beside that for past month I was actually thinking about getting that model, as I was looking for something small for light work that have removable bits but I still think getting one with pliers would be better, but I can't find any slim ones that i like as they always slap too much on them making them bulky...
I have the original version of the armbar drive. I removed all tools except for the driver, then tightened the pivot screw a bit more. Now I have a lightweight driver that never snaps closed under hard use. A super easy solution.
Yah but defeats the purpose of a "multitool" right ?. Now it's just a small screwdriver without even a bit storage or ideal handle
What I need is just the driver part part of it. I edc a pliers based multi-tool. Not all mts have sturdy hex bit driver. With magnets now I can fit extra bits inside.
Loose bits driver pocket and a non locking bit driver arm 6 out of 10
Yeah, like others said I'm liking my Milwaukee 6 in 1. It's much larger than this Gerber. The utility blade is different on the Milwaukee, but I can swap it out & the bit driver locks. I like the color on that Gerber.
I love my Milwaukee 6 in 1 but I'd really love something like that with a full blade. Looks like Gerber almost had it here but the loose bit holder would be a pain I imagine. The 1540 model looks nice but I'd like a non serrated blade.
I'm not sure I'd purchase this. I bought the Gerber center-drive a number of years ago, and I still have the same one and I love it because it really helps me as an electrician when I climb up a ladder and forgot to bring any type of tool with me to the top, I can always get open a lights or something with all of the bits that come with the center drive and I really like the screwdriver on the center drive! It has saved me from having to run back down a ladder numerous times!
Thanks for all your videos may Jesus greatly bless you!
They got some cool hex driver designs. None of that flat bit bs
That's true
Yeah I want to like a lot of gerber's designs. They have good concepts and try to innovate, it's mostly just the lack of execution with the final product. I desperately want a decent multitool with a locking 3d bit driver and integrated extension capable of holding double sided wiha bits with good retention. So far only the milwaukee fastback has really come through. I would just edc the victorinox L hex wrench, but it ended up not being great quality. The retention ring on it was cheap and unreliable.
Good luck on your modding, I'll stick to my Milwaukee Fastback for knife/driver. But I trash blades.
I've been looking everywhere for this Gerber armbar for the price you had said but I cannot find it for the life of me. Could you please share where you got this for $15? I've wanted one for some time but just can't bring myself to buy it for $45. Thank you
I have one of those. The Screwdriver must lock into position and be in the middle of it's diameter, even if it needs to be thicker. When using the tool because it does not lock the driver keeps flopping making it a poor driver to the point of uslessness.
Can you share a link to the mentioned modder?
Woops! Meant to add it. Will get it in a few min
@@maxlvledc thanks!
I grabbed one for $15 because of your tip. Should be arriving today. I wish the screwdriver locked as well. Will use it as part of a kit.
For 15 dollars, worth it, I bought some as a present for the boys. Would you do an in-depth or just your take on the sofirn IF23 and lumintop E21C?
I'm fairly new to EDC and your channel but in a short period of time I have amassed pockets full of different tools. I'm looking at a multi tool to eliminate the clutter and simplify my carry. My question for you is to do with modding a leatherman bond. I carry a knife full time so I want to swap out the knife blade for a saw on the tool set. I watched your video on doing mods to the bond and saw where you added the saw blade and it looked like you put it where the lanyard loop was. Do you think just a straight swap is possible? What saw blade did you use and where should I look for it? Thanks for your videos I appreciate the honesty and the education level you bring
What is the knife used for the unboxing?
Seems super low profile and sleek.
With the driver at 90 deg you could get plenty of pressure on it.
It's cool looking with the bottle opener out it looks like the assault rifle from Halo. I can open glass bottles with a lighter so, it's about just putting leverage under one lip with your fingers yeah I can open any any bottle with any plastic object so honestly they didn't need a bottle opener on it kind of annoys me
Got one of those in my pocket it right now. I added a paracord key chain to it, cause it doesn’t have a pocket clip.
@maxlvledc I believe HVAC Budget has done a similar mod like you're talking about doing on his channel.
Thank you i got this tool and also got the Gerber Truss, 51 dollars for both, unfortunately to late to get the knife for 10 dollars more, thanks for sharing this great deals.
Where is the UA-cam Community link? Never seen that. Where was that sale?
It was for a day or something. Go to my channel and scroll over to community. You only see the posts if you sub and activate notifications
Thought about adding a thumb stud? Zip ties would work.
They could have not skeletonized the face side of the blade “scale” and stuck a little clip there imo.
Think I’ll stay with the Milwaukee Fastback for now. Nice small package though from Gerber.
A pocket multi screwdriver and a separate knife are a better, if more expensive option at $15
Would love to see you review the boker plus specialist halftool. It’s very similar to this tool but it looks like the driver is more firm/stronger. But again non locking 👎
Where did you see it for $15?
Can the blade and driver be swapped? So the driver is the locking tool
No
If the bit driver locked it would be a cool little tool
For some reasonn the name 'Slim Drive' Made me think that there was a computer thumb drive integrated.
The multitool wars have begun! Power pint and Squirt gonzo.
If they had the lock on the bit driver side, instead of the knife side, it would be perfect for UK carry
What I thought too, I commented the same on another review of this.
Gerber out here acting like cutting a liner lock is some unfeasible process. Really boggles the mind
It remind me of the power rangers toys. You buye one after an other and if you get the all line, they combine. You asemble the giant robot like in the tv show. Gerbert should do the same and you get some kind bushcraft axe .
The new arm bar looks like it'll have a locking driver
Where did you see this info??
@@maxlvledc I was looking at the new armbar trade. And now that I'm trying to find it I would seem to be wrong. I thought it was on Blade HQ but I think its non locking
Im on the fence about these. Great video
They should’ve used the same liner lock that they used on the blade for the driver
My blade is so stiff I can't open one hand but I use the screwdriver a lot that's what saves this tool
I'd still go with the Milwaukee Version
Great for a tool bag tool . 15$ ?
No, I'd get a real tool
Where can I get that price
Was limited time
Its a multi tool...Its meant to perform everyday maintenance....its not built to build a house.
Hmmm….. Looks cool! Initially, I was like for $15? Yeah, I’ll get one! Then you said, it doesn’t have a pocket clip … 😕 No thanks!
This is perfect for alpaka zip pouch pro
My Victorinox cadet can do pretty much the same ....aside from the bits obviously
Could anodise it if you care that much its a small peice
So just get the fast back...same stuff better ergos a belt clip, and a blade that is always sharp....
I stalled on getting the Fastback for so long, thinking its bulk was going to be an issue. My favorite EDC and I love that I can throw away the blade if I forget when going through security.
When I hear Gerber I think baby food. 😅
Good video
wow, uploaded 56 seconds ago! Nice. $15 huh. Interesting. I wonder if they're gonna discontinue them soon.
Man I just got mine at Lowe’s for 49 something plus tax obviously. 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
Always good to see a guy cut towards himself with a knife. Stay tactical.
How to buy this for $15?
It was a one day sale
No pocket clip...😢
I’m InThe process of doing a new mod.
A screwdriver with a knife..how ingenious. $15 bucks,, cuz, you need 1.
Po Boy’s Leatherman Skeletool…
Needs a pocket clip and loose the key chain then it’d be much better
Its so close to being good. Pocket clip. locking driver.... so very very close.
Still better than Boker Plus Specialist HalfTool
Did you say “Motter” ?
Detent still sucks... pocket clip? Still a no go... unless you buying it to mod another tool...
I would take the knife out of that and just make it a true fits everything multi-tool even maybe with like a chain wrench for things that are odd sized
👍🍻
Linear not Liner.
I hate the bottle opener ...
I think every man who carries a Multitool is probably the kind of man who can open a bottle with a lighter or something similar ..
link for 15
Seriously, all of these renditions need to loose the bottle opener! It is a waste of space and isn't needed on a multitool
Cowabunga.!
Just buy a Milwaukee Fastback for $5 more.
Bottle opener and wine screw corks are the two most useless tools and take valuable space. This is what keeps me from buying any multi tool.
Yeah nah
Does bear grylls approve of this? 😂
That man could scale everest with a toothpick..not sure why anyone trusts his recommendations to us average folk lols
Looks so flimsy, like you could take it apart with one….arm….bar the price it’s ok🫣
