There's one more... Parker Quinn (the guy with the charge card scam) is apparently a reskinned Ron Staples. If you have Level 3 Intimidation, you can make him follow you to a settlement and put him to work.
Unfortunately, some of these vendors are bugged. You can find them, recruit them, and send them to a settlement only to never have them show up. I sent The Scribe to my Hangman's Alley settlement and had to follow him all the way there or he'd never make it.
Its a very good shout and I should have mentioned that. At times they simply won't appear in the settlement you send them to and they can end up wondering around randomly or worse yet never making it and disappearing entirely from the game.
On PC you could use console commands to fix that, but on a game console that may just be the end of the line. I used commands to just spawn a few of them in, like The Scribe, and talk to them at my settlement about working there
@@SaltyBeaver-db4hh Yeah, you can use console commands for sure to spawn them in. But you will still need to meet the requirements to actually be able to recruit them.
I’ve know about the bug so was very cautious when recruiting, so I painstakingly followed the vendor to my closest settlement to the area I was in and then after that I was able to move them around to other settlements without an issue! Hope this helps!
I did this as well on my main, i fixed the walls using concrete and built a gate, defences, set up the level 3 stores. The castle is the best settlement due to the fact it can be attacked twice with quests once against the institute and the other against the brotherhood. I also like using the cellar to hold spare power armour sets i find. Its just a shame you can't build there like you could with home plate.
Given that you can't move Ronnie Shaw out of the castle moving all the vendors to the Castle is a good call. I personally keep them in Hangman's Alley given its the most central settlement on the map.
@@xenoplayz4524 concrete is the way to go!! I felt really clumsy with vanilla building materials, everything just being shacks.. but the add on with concrete and warehouse walls was a game changer, that made me enjoy settlement building MUCH more! @@SaltyBeaver-db4hh i have the castle gates set up with a siren so when its turned on the gates close automatically along with a flare firework so minutemen reinforcements show up.
If you have access to all of the DLCs and you haven’t started Automotron yet, it’s best to uninstall Automotron because it messes with random encounters enough that you start seeing the Automotron based enoucuters much more often than the merchants. I had to start a new game because of this. Although I was able to get all the merchants tied to random encounters, Ron Staples is bugged for me and only offers his very limited wandering merchant inventory and not the level 4 shopkeeper merchandise.
Your absolutely right. This is way easier to do when you don't have the Automatron DLC. I did do it with the DLC but it tool me significantly longer to pull off. I was too deep into the playthrough to start again.
One Thing: don't send Tina to the same settlement as the Vault-Tec-Rep. If they're in the same settlement, they share the same stock of items and money
Thanks for sharing, that's something I never noticed before. Interesting, I'll look into it and see. I tend to always have those two given that are not random encounters.
@MuscleRose It just might be the case. I'm going to look into it, you got me thinking what happens if you have multiple traders of the same type in the same settlement.
Thanks. I do try to have counters on my guides where I tend to count the number of something so I am happy that it helped. Thanks for sharing your feedback.
That's interesting. You're not the first person to comment that, and yet I've never been able to recruit her, not without first rescuing Rex. Thanks for sharing, I will look into this.
@Generaloliverswanik He never respawns? Well no, I think. You need to get him (all of them actually) on the first go. With the exception of the fixed ones, the random founds can be hard to find a second time during the same playthrough.
@TrappedInFallout I've had him pop up multiple times b4 I got requirements but once I get them he never shows up again, the ones that don't respawn is smiling Lary and the scribe
@Generaloliverswanik Ah OK it sounds like you have had better luck for sure compared to me. For me once I see them, if I don't recruit them there and then I don't tend to see them again.
you can get Anne without even going to trinity tower if you offer to help Rex an get to the question about what she does there and ask her to work for you as a seamstress
@robbierobinson2214 thanks for sharing. I've been doing this the long way around for years now but now know it's possible without actually meeting Rex, thanks.
I usually meet doc Anderson too early on to recruit and then never see them again. In the years of playing countless playthroughs I’ve never had the scribe,Ron or Larry encounter. I also didn’t know Ronnie was a trader😂 I dislike the whole reloading thing so I probably won’t ever get them all
It really sucks to be honest. Same here, once I see them once if amI don't recruit them right there on the spot then I don't tend to see them again. They are worth getting because of their stock items. Some even have good legendary items. If you only going for weapon then do make sure to get Ronni.
It's important to note that the random npc's no longer spawn after you reach a certain level, and it's not that high. So, if you do the XP glitch or wait too long, you're sh!t outta luck...
@TrappedInFallout No problem. Glad to help. I know I spent days looking for them but they were already gone, lol. Supposedly you can still get them on PC? They all go to one room and you can recruit them using console commands or whatever. Someone posted a video on it. I'll get em next play through. 👍
@williamallen7386 Thanks again, I wanted to show that room in my guide but decided not too as it would have taken away what I was trying to show. Still, it's a great way to figure out if the NPCs are still around or not.
In the recent playing, I couldn’t get the Vault Tec rep to work in the store. He kept wandering up and down Sanctuary complaining about his face but couldn’t be employed.
Sounds like a glitch out Rep, sadly it can happen and has also happened to me. I was able to get him to work again by scrapping the trading stand and assigning him to a new one, that did it for me.
Running my favorite no mods playthrough yet. My own rules on very hard difficulty. No attack damage perks allowed besides demolition expert, hip fire, better criticals, and sneak attack/silencer perks. No blo ody mess perk either. Also no health regeneration on life giver and no toughness perk allowed. Only rooted and moving target perks for any damage resistance. This way all your power must come from your gear and crafting/mods. Also no glitches besides item duplication. This way you can get ammo factories going for your legendary weapons which you will need. This also makes magazines and companion perks much more important. This lack of damage output and resistance makes battles near twice as difficult as a very hard playthrough where you would pick the perks I am not using listed above. Nerd Rage perk is very useful playing this way. Saved me many times.😊
This sounds both brutal and tough and yet sounds like how a hard difficulty is ment to be played. The thing with any difficulty mode is that it inherently gets easier as you pick the right perks....restricting one self to not getting those perks etc will make things more challenging.
So you need to meet the settlement requirements either in a single settlement or joint settlement. So if all your settlements are joined then this counts as one number towards your settlers count.
You need to be far away from the random camp spot. I'd your seeing the same dead Raiders then chances are that your too close to the spot when you saved your game. You need to be far away such that when you enter the area the camp spot is in, it will generate random enemies/NPCs.
@liammack4592 Getting Larry is tough and Ann should be easier to get given that she is in a fixed location and she usually listens to you after you visit Rex in Trinity Tower.
The fixed ones can be found again by simply revisiting the same location. The ones that move about sadly cannot and you will need to find them again which is mostly random.
Really, that's interesting. I've never been able to recruit her, not without first vising and freeing Rex. In fact she tells me to free Rex if I happen to bump into her before meeting Rex.
I don't want anyone in sanctuary, the only settlement where I built something (1 bed), I also leave preston and his boring company in the museum of freedom...
That's fair enough, Sanctuary is one of the biggest settlements around and also one of the earliest too making it a nice location. It's also effectively an island making it just that little more appealing. And you also get some free permanent settlers via Preston.
@michaellewis5795 It's interesting you say that. Your also not the first. In my experience I have always had to rescue Rex before she would agree to work in a settlement. I wonder what I am doing different...
