Lyrics:
Well, I might have to diffuse this one.
Call the listeners but they don't speak the same tongue.
Send me away. You laugh and scoff and spit out false intellect.
Guess I'll let you have your way this once for the greater goal of us.
Sometimes it's better to let them win to escape the mess.
Just let it go, you already know my faith now is swayed.
Can trust be remade?
This silent fight is worse than a scuffle.
The same violent night and we both share the struggle.
Amiss, dismissed.
You might be right so take your own advice, just let it go, you already know.
Don't write about love, no more cliches!
No more delays. Glass-wristed grasp of my surroundings and dizzily shuffling forward;
that's where I'm found, pulled to the sky from the ground and spun round
in an aerial court of my peers and stripped down to only skin, bones and tears.
And the ever-chugging monolith, my inner voice, is inviting me to stay here for years.
I'm wired weird, I've grown wrong.
And sing the same damn songs to the ever-nodding audience, until my body is gone.
Quiet your open thoughts and turn the other way to make grimacing actions.
And if it's not possible, okay. Just stay that way.
Just let it go, you already know my faith now is swayed.
Can trust be remade? This silent fight is worse than a scuffle.
The same violent night and we both share the struggle.
Amiss, dismissed.
You might be right so take your own advice,
just let it go, you already know.
Like frantically rifling through all of your keys.
There's no wind behind you but something's moving the leaves.
This place is familiar.
You used to call it your own.
Now there's nobody home.
No, there's nobody home.
Once a room is empty it has no need for a name
or title and when a glass is empty someone fills it up or puts it away.
But when the glass broke, the room spoke in dangerous tones,
"If it's broken just leave it alone!"
We have to go! We have to go!
Let the passenger take hold, let the stranger drive you home.
We have to go! We have to go!
May this song fill up a hole.
May the room with no purpose forever be closed.
Although we left in a panic,
I took a look back at the house,
saw it turn on its axis and vanish.
The dust enveloped the sky, the splinters fell to the earth,
swam deep in the soil and came back to life.
It survived! It survived! It survived.
#ALotLikeBirds #NoPlace
it saddens me knowing that only a small amount of people have heard this masterpiece
unfortunately for bands like this, getting 85k views on a UA-cam upload is a miraculous blessing.
Bob Jones makes me happy it's saver before.ppl fuck it.up. keep this low and secret for our ears.
@@jrosario6109 Why would this music becoming more widely known fuck it up ?
Same here ALLB is one of my favorite bands. Their lyrics are so deep.
yeah its so sad..😥
I always get close to tearing up whenever cory says "we have to go" because every time i listen to this album i feel like im going on a journey and its so sad when it ends. This is probably the most emotional album ive ever listened to.
I remember when Kurt signed my shoe back in his DGD days. Awesome moment
What does Kurt play?
@@omgitzsirairhornKurt is the singer
I have literally lost count of how many times I have listened to this album. Pure poetry, meaningful lyrics, great musicianship, and it all comes together perfectly.
Teared up in the library. Ppl looking at me crazy. They'll never understand. RIP Birds
NO OnE eVer UNderStanDS mE
this bands give me the most chills. like, it's insane.
The drummer is sick.
definitely
This is what real music really is. After hearing so many bands these days its so great to hear something so original and so powerful as ALLB
Obviously haven't heard Stolas. They are insane.
I got their album too. Hail the sun is another great band
What's a good HTS album?
FeelingSkramzy
???
4:22 through 5:23 is the best part. Been repeating this for days.
God damn, this is deep! I got this CD a week ago, I've been crying for 7 days straight. I only have one wish in life, that's to come back reincarnated as Kurt Travis's notebook.
Cory Lockwood's notebook*... Just saying... 'Cause I'm an asshole that just has to correct someone on something so small and I'm probably wrong but I believe he writes most of their music. He went to college for creative writing and stuff as well..
PodFtw God damn! That's beautiful!
Vincent Black Dont forget Michael Franzino. He practically wrote No Place
I swear, I listen to this song at least 7 times a day
Devin Blair same for me and their song no nature lol.
@@Metal_Dude it’s Kuiro ledge for me lol the absolute best
I come back to this song for many years now and it always makes me tear up. Masterpiece.
Wow. I am so moved by this entire album. I don't want it to be finished here. It's almost like I want it to be eternal. It's stunningly put together, and has caused me to cry many times. Incredibly inspiring
This song is beautiful.
This song, nay this album, has filled a hole
Hope everyone hears & listens to this album.
This song is beautiful.
This band is life.
Every time i listen to this song, i am reminded of a world that used to be... and how much more empty it feels without these men coming together to give us such beautiful music. Divisi was great, but nothing tops no place
I need friends with this
taste on music xD haha
Joseph Sierra tell me about it bro... It sucks my best mate is into edm it's so hard to level musically so I just listen to his stuff lol.
I was originally like "there's no way this is gonna top Conversation Piece"
I was totally wrong.
No Place doesn't come close to Conservation Piece, at least for me. conversation piece is likely the best album ever made, so it was quite the high bar.
I digged No Place when it came out, but didn't hold the same power/weight as Conversation Piece for me. Still a good album though.
I hated DIVISI at first because Kurt was gone and it was so different, but it grew on me and I really like a lot of the tracks.
these dudes are one of the main torch holders keeping experimental post hardcore alive! THIS SHIT WILL NEVER DIE!!
Although I'm late I still want to say this song is an absolute master piece
3:22 - 4:22 needs a place in musical history. I can't even describe the feeling, but its incredible.
Listening to this song at 3 am and mildly drunk feels like insanity... It's so beautiful and painful, making you think of so many things in your life, past, evaporated things, mostly, and it's making you have a love-hate relationship with who you were back then...
This is a really nice new sound. wow.
The horns.....
I can not go a single day without at least hearing this song once..
God damn it this was amazing. Cried twice while reading along to the album, something music has never done to me before, freakin' lyrical masters.
Time to listen again...
This is absolutely beautiful
After seeing kuroi ledge wasnt the epic final track I was hoping the finisher would outdo it a bit. Kuroi is of course amazing, but this is unbelievable.
ALLB is playing at Warped Tour 2014
My two favorite bands for sure
Best album of 2013 right here.
Wait, no, sorry. Best album I've ever heard in my life so far.
I am sooo stoked to see these guys on januaryy!
This was like The Empire Strikes Back of ALLB albums.
this is lyrically brilliant... i'm so blown away. ARRRRGH I FEEL THIS SHIT!!!!
IT SURVIVED! IT SURVIVED!!!! IT SURVIVED!!!!
Oh my gosh this is so fucking beautiful. These songs are just killing me one by one. Chills running through my body.
Can't get enough of this song
Beautiful.
Perfection
it's sad that kurt is no longer in a lot like birds, he'll always be my favorite artist though.
Is he doing anything now?
+Hussein Ateyah He's going solo. He's already got one album solo from before called everything is beautiful.
+Christ thanks for the reply!!
+Young and Obsessed at least we heard what we did.. i'm so sad as well dude.. :( there's gunna be a chunk missing in my heart
Young and Obsessed check out Eternity Forever another Kurt Travis ensemble that sounds amazing
what a refreshing album!
This song is fucking amazing
I know this song is about a home, more specifically a house. But I feel like I can apply the lyrics to the first time I went back to my hometown after my first year in college.
+SFxTAGG3 I actually just learned this album was about a house and I've been listening to it for a year. I always had my own look at the lyrics. That's what make lyrics and poetry amazing. You can interpret it in many different ways.
This song/album is definitely not about a house. It's using a house as a metaphor.
From listening to the entire album, it seems like this is about s dysfunctional house hold and the house is the living embodiment of the negative thoughts and feelings of the family or the person returning to the house. That's just what I got out of it.
I taked 7 Xanax’s and listening this master piece ❤
This song is awesome :)
Awh yes
Estoy cableado extraño, me he equivocado.
Need this on my ipod
I knew it was going to top it just from Kuroi Ledge. What I didn't expect was for the rest of the album to top Kuroi Ledge, which it did.
fast forward three years. kurts gone and the two singles released sound like another band entirely. my soul hurts =(
Well now they aren't a band at all LMAO
spotted this album art in the backround of a Drew Gooden vid and searched around till i found this group.
It's like a Poltergeist house you do not fuck with. Most epic band on Equal Vision besides The Dear Hunter.
that sound excatly like the band "Jovian" (WeAreJovian) on "power vision" for exemple
Has anyone found a drum cover?? It's seriously insane and I have not found yet.
Same dude I've been looking for one just to see the Fill from 2:24 to 2:30
goosebumps @4:52
this song and album have such deep meaning.... a reflection of the evil society that has been built around us.. we must tear it down /;
Finally...something new in the metal scene that actually works
This isn't metal
+Christian Gonzales what genre is it?
+Luke Duffy post hardcore and math rock
+Christian Gonzales Thank you for informing me about you're subgenres. if you like advice on losing your virginity, feel free to ask
+Luke Duffy please mister show me the way. Put it in take it out put it in take it out right?
Sounds like Bert?
McCracken?
exactly! FearABlankPlanet
Independent listeners. God darn God damn
Good drumming! Bye the way, what is "post hardcore"? Is that some term referencing the idea that hard core is dead?
No, Post-Hardcore is a genre of its own. It's like a fusion between Punk and Metal.
The best way I can describe it is by saying it simply means it is (1. an immediate result of- (2. came after the fact of- and/or (3. is an evolution of- hardcore.
Typical characteristics of hardcore would be like fast, sporadic drums and guitar riffs, and that 'tough guy drum beat' often accompanied with heavy chug riffing, shouting vocals with lyrics that inspire thoughts of uprise and questioning the powers that be. It's definitely not limited to these characteristics, but it's a decent basis for this comparison.
In comparison, post-hardcore shares many of the same characteristics, but, for lack of a better way to phrase it, as if there was more thought put into it... better composed? There's a lot more actual melodies, sometimes bringing in softer sounds to bring a more dynamic feel the to the 'harder' or 'heavier' parts of songs. Lyrics are typically more hitting towards home for the listener as to evoke emotion, and usually involve much more surreal-like imagery.
In personal opinion, a good showcase of this would be Circa Survive's 'Living Together' off of their album "On Letting Go." The opening of the song implements that 'tough guy drum beat' mentioned above, but with guitars sounding off in rising "siren-like" sounds. Then the vocalist belts "It starts off like a season in reverse" bringing in that surreal imagery.
Another good example would be like, any song off of No Place.
In a way, it's very similar to painting. Realism: you know, looking real and shit; Expressionism: introducing long, thick brush strokes, bold colors, and bringing a great amount of distortion to both physical form and environmental form- to evoke more of an emotional reaction from the viewer; Post-Expressionism: taking those same characteristics from Expressionism, but giving them a much more realistic composition.
Like taking a look at Edvard Munch's expressionist piece "The Scream" and then taking a look at a self-portrait of Vincent Van Gogh, or his piece "Starry Night" or "Green Wheat Fields."
And you wanna know something else?
Vyvanse is supposed to help me concentrate at work, but instead I'm on youtube practically writing an essay on the comparison of hardcore and post-hardcore and how it's analogical with painting.
ALSO, upon wanting to find the best way to phrase that last sentence, I looked up 'analogical' to HOPEFULLY see that "comparison of hardcore and post-hardcore and it's ANALOGICALITY with painting" would be the correct phrasing, but it's actually "ANALOGICALNESS."
But that just fuckin' sounds weird.
Well, this is how I spend my time at work now, I guess.
TLDRLOL
DylanL321 good shit. I thought that I was one to ramble on, and in my own way, feeling that by doing so, the long drawn out conversation piece I've stretched before anyone interested enough to hold their attention to my words -- to the deep retro-analysis of the very ideas that I am still forming even now, would realize, if anything, a simple beauty in the subjective nature of my somewhat pointless objective action: a thought. Just a thought. But I've seen this in yours and felt gratitude, so I thought to mention this appreciation to you. So thank you for that even if it wasn't your intention. And certainly don't be ashamed or feel self conscious; there are others out there -- and with great taste in music! ;)
Guy WhoHatesGooglePlus no...
Spencer Holmes Wow, what a compelling argument!
3:52-4:22 sounds like music to a Robert Rodriguez film.
Take a hand full of 🍄 and play the album your welcome 💗
These guys are taking The Mars Volta/ATDI's sound to the bank lol. I enjoyed it until the spoken-word stuff came along.
Is this song about religion? Just curious.
The album is literally about a house and what it and its various rooms can mean based on experiences within them. This particular song, I believe is about the house as a whole, but don't quote me.
SsGloom
Hmmm interesting...
+SsGloom that's really unique
+I wonder how long I can make this username, seriously though, this was Googles big "Improvement"! +alissa calogero
I personally thought the album was about a family falling apart, but I looked up a track-by-track from the band, and yeah.
In Trances - front door
No Nature - basement
No Nurture - living room
Next to Ungodliness - bathroom
Connector - hallway
Myth of Lasting Sympathy - closet
Hand Over Mouth, Over and Over Again - bedroom
Kuroi Ledge - balcony..
Recluse - attic
I think that's all of them. Not all of them are from experience, though. No Nature was meant to be crazy and creepy, like a stereotypical basement. Kuroi Ledge ends with the character jumping from the balcony. Recluse is mostly from spiders' point of view. But you get the idea.
+SsGloom This song is about the room with no name, or no particular purpose, such as an office or second living room.
"Once a room is empty it has no need for a name or title."
"May the room with no purpose forever be closed."
However, it kind of conclusively embodies the entire album as a whole, especially when the room yells at the protagonist, "If it's broken just leave it alone." Which unveils to the protagonist about the nature of the house and the fruitlessness of remaining there.
I knew it was going to top it just from Kuroi Ledge. What I didn't expect was for the rest of the album to top Kuroi Ledge, which it did.
